Plus, they did the Phantom & Melanie Ravenswood wrong!
      1. The Phantom isn't Melanie's groom, he's her wretched father brought back from the dead to seize control over her life...and thereafter, so him carrying her bridal style comes off as incestuously creepy in hindsight.
      2. Melanie Ravenswood & the Beating-Heart Bride are two completely different iterations of the Attic Bride/Ghost Bride character concept, even if they share similarly tragic backstories before murderous sociopath Constance Hatchaway replaced Beating-Heart at the stateside Haunted Mansions. Yet, Disney erroneously made Melanie deliberately resemble Beating-Heart, likely on-purpose.

It's cool to see the comparison! Though I must say I prefer Disneylands version because of the dancing Donald tail that Paris's version was missing. This scene used to legitimately frighten me as a kid, and it was always Donald being silly that got me through it!

I like that the Phantom Manor one actually has the Phantom and Melanie in it. I wish the Haunted Mansion one could have done something similiar, but they don't quite have characters that could have worked, I imagine - maybe the Hitchhiking Ghosts?

Two glaring problems persist with the Phantom & the Bride's inclusion at Phantom Manor:
      1. The Phantom isn't Melanie's groom, he's her wretched father brought back from the dead to seize control over her life...and thereafter, so him carrying her bridal style comes off as incestuously creepy in hindsight.
      2. If Disney wanted to make a new video for “Grim Grinning Ghosts”, they should do it in Disney World for 2020 and here are some suggestions:
    1. Kids wandering what happens at The Haunted Mansion at night
    2. Dr. Facilier(aka The Phantom) awakening the trees and sending out his shadow spirits while opening the mansion
    3. The Old Hag appearing behind the trees(Disney Land version)
    4. Cruella De Ville, Big Bad Wolf, Capt. Hook, and Queen Of Hearts following together at the mansion
    5. Donald disguised as a ghost scaring the trees and backs up towards the fountain while Ursula comes out and scares him.
    6. Scenes from Haunted Mansion
    7. Maleficent appearing(Disneyland version) and Jafar arriving(Disneyland Paris version)
    8. All the villains gathering together before Facilier appears and transforms into his shadow disguise to scare everyone
    9. The villains dancing and paying the fee for the funeral before saying, “Good-bye!”
    10. The villains and Donald fading away and the trees standing still(Disney Land version)
    11. The gates closing
    12. The kids going to The Haunted Mansion

      @sambascom2884 Před 2 lety +1

Ok. I agree with all these points, but I would alter a few things. On point 4, I would have Claude Frollo, Big Bad Wolf, Captain Hook, and Stromboli. I think you have a good idea with point 5, but am unsure of how that could be pulled off. Would there be enough time to fit all that stuff in that part? Would a combo of both versions work? I kind of don't like the idea of Donald scaring the trees because I find the trees scarier and it seems wierd that Ursula scares him from the fountain when they should be afraid of him like in the Paris Version. To be honest, I don't think Ursula would work well because she is a sea creature and would stick out from the others. I kind of think I'd like Yzma or Hades in the Donald scene, but how could a character be worked into that part with Donald? I also am not sure the DisneyWorld mansion has the space or the environment to do this like the Disneyland exterior does.

English translation of the French lyrics:
Quand les portes craquent au fond de la crypte
_When the doors slam at the back of the crypt_
    Les squelletes jouent des castagnettes
    _The skeletons play castanets_
    Les revenants bons vivant
    _The spooks are well alive_
    Se balancent en chantant
    _(They) are swaying and singing_
Dans le joyeux royaume des fantomes
_In the happy kingdom of ghosts_
Ils sont pleins d'esprit tous ces esprits là
_They are full of spirit, all these spirits_
Ils viennent sans bruit s'assoire pres de toi
_They quietly come and sit next to you_
    Il recoulent sous leur cagoules
_They sink back under their hoods_
ça te donne la chair de poule
    _It gives you goosebumps_
Dans le joyeux royaume des fantomes
_In the happy kingdom of ghosts_
A la mi-carème, ils chantent un requiem
_In mid-Lent, they sing a requiem_
    C'est encore un stratagème
    _It is still a stratagem_
    Ce petit air de terreur
    _This small air of terror_
    Qui te fais hurler d'horreur
_That makes you scream in horror_
Quand la lune s'allume à l'heure de minuit
_When the moon lights up at midnight_
De la brume, ils sortent sans bruit
_From the mist, they come out silently_
    En habits de carnaval
    _In carnival outfits_
Chaque nuit, ils donnent un bal
_Every night, they have a ball_
Dans le joyeux royaume des fantomes
_In the happy kingdom of ghosts_
Si vous voulez venir danser aussi
_If you want to come to dance too_
Le ticket d'entrée n'est jamais gratuit
_The entrance ticket is never free_
Il faut payer de sa vie
_You have to pay with your life_
C'est pour la paix des esprits
_It's for the peace of the spirits_
    Venez danser en notre compagnie
    _Come dance in our company_
    PS:
    1) _Venez danser en notre compagnie_ can also be translated as "come dance with us." I'm no expert so this translation is far from perfect. Corrections are welcome.
    2) Stratagem = a plan or scheme, especially one used to outwit an opponent or achieve an end.

  • @dangurney1042
    @dangurney1042 Před 5 lety +15

To me it mostly comes down to the villains that they use. One thing the remake has going for it, is including Jafar in place of Captain Hook. I think Jafar is easily a more terrifying villain than Hook. Granted the original came out before Aladdin so Jafar was not accessible at the time. Including Maleficent and Snow White's Queen in her witch form in both versions was a nice touch but it's weird how Maleficent looks more like she does in the movie in the original than in the remake but for Snow White's Queen it's the other way around. I always thought The Big Bad Wolf was a weird choice to put in the group of villains, maybe if the remake had come out a few years later they could have put Scar in his place even though no Lion King characters outside of Timon and Rafiki have ever appeared as meet and greet characters in Disney parks. Which I also found weird, how come Pluto can walk around on two legs but they can't?

    • @victoriousone4867
      @victoriousone4867 Před 5 lety +2

Yeah I feel like the characters in Disneyland Fun look much better, Maleficent in particular. The Paris one looks...almost like it's supposed to be a sexy version. It's weird. I prefer the original Evil Queen as well as I think that costume looks scarier. In terms of the wolf, that's the only character my 3yo is afraid of in the DLF video so I dunno! Maybe he's scarier than you think!
Also you've given me a mental image of Lion King characters walking around on their hind legs like Pluto. Thanks I hate it.

If you'll recall, Madame Leota summons all ghoulies and creeps and witches and wizards and creatures of the night to the Haunted Mansion - so the Haunted Mansion is the denizen of all Disney Villains, including Jafar, Hook, and BB Wolf ... and even Donald who is the most hot-tempered and mischievous of the original Disney gang.

« En route pour Disneyland Paris » I’ve spent days watching this VHS during my childhood and it’s very positive to see that you’re actually caring about the non-american resorts. The story of Phantom Manor and all the secrets and details laid throughout the house, its garden, Boot Hill and the rest of Frontierland are passionating and I hope you will talk about these in a later video. « Le Joyeux Royaume des Fantômes » is also the only translation in french of Grin Grinning Ghosts I’ve ever heard, and I doubt that another one even exists, because in the ride the song is sung by the busts but it’s the original lyrics.

CORRECTION: The Haunted Mansion - "Grim Grinning Ghosts" from Disney's Sing Along Songs: "Disneyland Fun" was originally released in the year 1990 for VHS, NOT the year 1991, but they did another rereleased on VHS in 1994 and another one on DVD in 2005 to celebrate Disneyland's 50th Anniversary. However, Disney's Sing Along Songs: "Let's Go To Disneyland Paris" released the original version in French on VHS in 1993, but they did another rereleased on VHS in 1997 & this time, in American English. On the other hand, they did another rereleased on DVD in 2005 along with Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, but once you press the French language on their Settings Menu: Languages & Subtitles, it will take you to "Let's Go To Disneyland Paris."

Okay, America won overall with its acting, editing, set variation, and costumes. Take notes live action Maleficent, your counterpart here may be chewing the scenery, but at least she's green. Still, regardless of which one you prefer, I'm sure we can all agree that these are the creepiest trees since Evil Dead. I doubt even the Lorax would wanna prefer these petrified pines. Between that and those old fruit gummy commercials, what is it with Hollywood's weird obsessions of making us scared of trees?
