Had to come here and watch this after he announced his retirement from Eventing this morning (NZST) such an honour to have this legend represent our Country for 40+ years! It won’t be the same watching the 3-Day Eventing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020🇳🇿🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Really interesting how he pulls his leg up under himself on the straightaways, giving his muscles time to recover. He is a legendary horseman, absolutely brilliant
When he lost that stirrup& looked down, that look on his face was spool just "meh, oh well!!!" ....there's a REASON he's a friggin SEVEN TIME, MULTI DISCIPLINE, "SIR" TODDY!!!! ALL HAIL SIR TODDY!!
Where is Mark's commentary? In his usual modest style does he have nothing to say? (Apart from : "wonderful horse, he gave me a good ride.") I've searched for evidence of this rider feat, I was there with my jolly good team of Sue Hill and Willowbrook Lad and it does move one to experience partnership like theirs. In my adventure filled life meeting these top riders are right at the top of reverant moments. Long live the spirit of man and horse. pobdragon
Riding 1 stirrup is actually easier in my opinion to keep your leg on the horse and going fast,I’ve jumped a 2’6 course with 1 stirrup, but I can’t even IMAGINE A XC WITH 1 STIRRUP!! THIS MAN IS A GODDD A RIDING!
Gotta give credit to the horse too! He didn't miss a jump or hesitated. What a great horse
Never again will I complain about no-styrup work.
ive seen this man ride a few times. he's a wonderful rider and his long career is a testament to that

One word...''groin strain!''...almost worse to have one stirrup than none for huge jumps like these.
Mark is digging in the spur on his stirrupless foot. Gotta give props to that horse for putting up with all that and not missing a trick!

They work so well together, he is such a talented rider.
He's such a good rider and make NZ equestrian proud
I remember watching this in 95'. What a phenomenal piece of riding. Especially with only 1 stirrup over a international course of that magnitude. 🙌🙌
Wow! Good seat there Toddy!
Amazing work. That combo in the

That's pretty cool. Majority of the course with only one stirrup. Very good rider and horse 🐴.
What a legend that's why he's Sir Mark Todd!!!!!
