Here’s 3 tips you need to know when keeping betta fish.
1. Give them a 5 gallon aquarium, if you want to keep them happy. They're often sold in small cups, but they won't survive in it for very long.
2. They need clean water. They’re labyrinth fish, so can breathe from both their gills and mouth. However, they still need clean water. Make sure you add a aquarium filter to the setup.
3. They need the filter, but they don’t like strong water flow. So adjust the water flow on the filter. If your filter does not have the ability to adjust the water flow, add a baffle.

Exactly. Dozens of videos say they don't like water flow, but I've observed that mine does! She plays with the current like she's surfing and has a blast ❤
A small water flow keeps mine busy. Certainly a better option than some toys we give them which they get bored of about on the second time around.

I let my two female bettas live in a 55 with community fish fully planted, and they seem very happy. But for some reason they keep blowing bubbles almost
That's a good sign. Bubble nests are created by happy Bettas.
Female bettas are nice I think, males are territorial.

Doesnt tht depends in the place your living? bettas are found wild in my country so tempts here are fine and mine survive quite some time before it got old and also he grew so big

@@praveenraj2639 a better way to put it would be "Bettas need to be kept between 78-80 F. If your natural temp can stay in that range, then sure

I never knew that about the filter. I had one in a big vase for at least 2 years. Yes, it lived quite a while in there.

My son decided he wanted a betta fish for his tank. I was like they’re kinda anti social they tend to not have tank mates. Even better he said.
They're not antisocial. Males need to be separated, but they most definitely can have tank mates as long as they're not fin nippers. You can also have a sorority tank of female bettas.
Mine is in a landscape style Fluval tank with some neon's and shrimp.

Is three gallons not enough? A fish person told me 3 gallons was enough for Bettas and I read in articles that 2.5 was the minimum... now I feel like I was misinformed and I spent a lot of money and time Setting up and cycling my 3 gallon tank getting ready for my first betta this week
5 gallons is preferred but 3 gallons should be fine so long as it has a sufficient filter

5 gallons should definitely be the minimum!
My Tangerine Koi male is in a 10 gal with 2 (they started to pass away I had 13) guppies 4 apple snails and 3 African dwarf frogs and everyone is happy and doing well my snails breed like there’s no tomorrow accidentally had a clutch hatch but they went to a good home

In the wild bettas guard their microscoping area around a rice plant or something and hardly swim anywhere away from it. So even a gallon or two can be enough as long as you keep up the water quality. I successfully kept a totally healthy paradise fish in a 3-liter jar for a very long time, at least a year, don't even remember exactly how long. In fact, it died because of me moving it to a 10 gallon. A comet goldfish killed it.

U can keep them in a 3g bowl, deep substr8 with lots of plants.
I have a heater but we are trying plants to control water parameters along with the once regular water changes. I dont know why i think this but i feel like everytime i try keeping bettas with filters, the fish i had as a kid lived for several years in one on those 2 gallon critter keepers and all we did was change ths water regularly.
Now obviously i want to so better than little kid me did but i think theres something to be said for simplicity.
It's an experiment.
I have old filters if i decide to add one later. Fish is thriving so far.

They can survive im 5 Liter tank for a very long time, variant of food(live food are optional) and indian almond leaf(optional) and weekly water change are the key for betta survival.
You can do aquascape for betta but 5L and weekly water change already enough and put them next to another betta tank(put devider).

I was all wrong I guess when I was little I had a 2 gal bowl tank with no filter but changed water once every 2 week and it’s still living to this day

I got 1 betta when I was like, 5, and now Ive had 10.😂
Here some others things Ive learned to add to the vid:
1.Get a heater. Filters are important, and so are heaters, because they are tropical fish
2.If you have lights over your betta tank, keep them dim. If they are too bright, it will stress out the betta
3.in proper care, bettas can live up to 5 years old!
4.If you notice any irregularitys, please look at whats happening. Google is fine. But I have lost multiple fish because I didnt look soon enough 😢
I’m not one of those people who put my Betta in a small tank I put my Betta in make up a kind of a big king but not a huge tank. It has pretty of natural like decorations.

Gee ,thats funny my betta is in a 1.3 gallon glass desk top aquarium. No filter and no heater until winter time . He gets a water change every 3 days . Never any fin rot , never any fin clamping .Very active and with beautiful color . Put him in a 10 gallon planted tank and he did nothing but sit at the bottom until I moved him back to his small tank so I'll keep it like that 👌
