This originally aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, January 10th 1981 during the 11:00am to 11:30am timeframe.
This was from a tape donated to The Museum of Classic Chicago Television as part of The Heather Bricker Collection.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. This takes me back, brings back good memories. I had a great childhood. Born in the 70s, raised in the 80s.
I miss being a kid in the 1980s. Those ABC Weekend Specials were awesome. I see Olivia Barash is in this. She was in lots of shows in 70s and 80s.
My Favorite Programs from The 70's and 80's.🤗
Thank you for the person that loaded this up. This was one of my favorite shows. Born in 1970. The afterschool shows are what I lived for. Now, that I am 51. I sometimes wish i could go back. The nightstocker, the dukes of hazzard. Great times. I feel lost in our present day. It just doesn't feel the same. Thank you. This is a call out to all of the 70s kids!!!
I've looked for this for years. Do you have part 2
Hey guys, I'd love to talk to some 70s kids. Now adults. Leave me some messages on this channel. Anybody gre up in twin falls Idaho?
Why would part 2 not be in the same video and if it’s not then how about the link?
I literally spent my childhood, every Saturday looking for part 2. Be great of someone could find it.
Awesome! I never got to see part two to this day I was a kid and excited for part one and I never got to see the second one

I wish they could air the last 2 episodes of this. I really do miss the old days of the 80's. I wish they had a time machine to make me go back 39 years backwards.
The young fella in the show looks like the young John Denver
THIS IS IT! The last show/movie from my past that I needed to find. now I am complete.
Almost 40 Years since this came out
Do you have Part 2?

I have the Full Zack & Magic Factory
@@muzikman74 it's not on your CZcams channel
😎 hey I was wondering can you be able to play a part two please because I really would like to see what happens next for zack in this series thank you very much 🙂
Thanks. Oh man It's been years since I saw "Zack and the Magic Factory".
Seen part one but never had a chance to check out part two
I remember these! Thank you for posting. January 10 1981 I was 9. My youngest sister and I had the chicken pox. She had just turned 3 on January 7 that year.
I had chicken pox in November '80! My little brother gave it to me; there was an epidemic that fall and winter. I was still recovering at home when Reagan was elected president.
I was also 9 years old back on January 10,1981 8 days before I turn 10 years old. Yes that brings me back memories and I use to watch the weekend specials when I was a kid as well. I miss the old days.
I saw this and would not play it for some odd reason and then I did. I was transported back to that time and remembering when i saw it back in the 80’s and remembering as I knew it was special but didn’t connect at the time .I wanted it to be what I it was now .
Wow. Thanks for sharing this one!
i haven't seen this in 40 + years, I'm glad some of these old ABC weekend specials are here on you tube for us old genxers to enjoy, also according to imdb Jane Withers (aunt daisy) is still alive and kicking at almost 95 years old now...
Update Jane Withers passed away last month at 95 R.I.P
Does anybody have part 2?
The announcer for Weekend Special was Ernie Anderson who in Cleveland played a movie host Ghoulardi. Anderson died in 1997 and there is a yearly convention known as Ghoulardifest hosted by Big Chuck and Lil John.
@@WorldFilmGeek truth!
This is amazing. I've never really seen anything that looks like this. I love the color.. but even this style, it's written like a book.
We still NEED and WANT a part two!!!
The person only taped part one, sorry.
I have the Full Zack & Magic Factory
Can you put it on CZcams? I want to see what happens in part 2
Believe it or not, this is the first time I've seen one of the Michael Young broadcasts since 1981. (I started watching in '79, so I probably saw most of them at the time.)
Character actress Jane Withers, who played Zach's Aunt Daisy, I also remember her from another ABC WS called "The Winged Colt" based on the novel by Betsy Byars, which also had Slim Pickens, Ike Eisenmann (Escape to Witch Mountain) and Frank Cady (Green Acres and Petticoat Junction). But I also remember seeing an episode of A&E Biography that was devoted entirely to her. She herself had started out as a child actress, playing Shirley Temple's arch-rival in the 1930s, then becoming Josephine the Plumber in a series of commercials for Comet Cleanser during the mid and late 60's. But there's no mention of her work on the ABC Weekend Specials, and I can probably guess why: she lost her husband in a plane crash in 1968, and she also lost a son about the same time she was doing the Weekend Specials. But she's still doing alright, even at the age of 93 ☺
Believe it or not Ms. Withers is still alive. I Googled it and i think it said she's 93!
@@ryanmcginnis377 Yes, come to think of it, I had already said that in my first post. There's even an bio on Wikipedia about her.
My favorite one
great show but the commercails are my favorite, brings back so much memories... where's part 2??
This bring back memories to my child hood
Wow this brings back memories.
I literally just my mind went through a time warp thanks for posting this what year was this? 1980
Saturday, January 10th, 1981. It's in the video description.
What are you? Some kind of math wiz?
I remember this show use to come on before Dick Clark’s American Bandstand every Saturday back in the late 70’s and early 80’s
Thank you for uploading this one. I've been looking for this for years. We had a video of this when I was young and I watched it a zilion times. Would be nice to have the second part also with the magic words: naci naci naci
Dick Tufeld is the voice of the ABC promos at 17:22 and 25:52.
4:22 Herb Vigran plays George the Milkman for Graham Crackos
25:53 Paul Frees is the voice of the pirate, Daws Butler is Cap'n Crunch
26:23 Lennie Weinrib is the voice of Timer
When are you going to upload Part 2? They're not making these ABC Weekend Specials anymore, nor are they making any anthology TV shows, whether it's Love American Style or Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre neither, which pretty much sucks 😕 (Don't mean to complain, exactly why I don't like most 1980's TV, I mean it and I'm serious. To make a long story short, all throughout the 1980's, it's just money talks, less variety like how it was in the 60's and 70's. Here, shows like these were pretty much fun, enjoyable, and, all in all, VERY entertaining.)
Sadley News shows are cheaper to produce than children's tv shows.....I miss the 80's. Excellent shows that kept kids out of trouble like Weekend Special no longer air on TV, no wonder kids are rebelling and in many instances have snapped. Kids are no longer allowed to be kids....
This is awesome can you get part 2. Thanks👍
Kids are people too and that's incredible how they do that in search of and unsolved mysteries TV shows series episodes
Where’s part 2😢
Superman: Don't go away. We'll be right back.
Batman: And now, here's more of the program.
lol. I remember this being a much higher quality production.
this i got to see
That one older adult Guy actor on the Jefferson TV show series episodes as mr Wallace
Where's part 2
NACI!!!! I need part 2. Please!!!!
As my cool church member friend Wayne Berry coined me I'm a walking magic book full of knowledge
Michael Young... I recognize him from “Columbus Goes Bananaz” and “Epcot Magazine”, both historical early talk shows from future cable powerhouses. ...He was clearly before my time. What else did he do?
Upload abc cartoons with commercials would be cool
Personally I think uploading an original premiere airing of The Winged Colt pt. 1 from Fall 1977 would be even cooler!
Abcweekandspeclals on cartoons on classic and go
Time for timer !!!
They should have named the milkman Ralph, that would have been funny. XD (It'd be a joke reversal of Ralph Kramden's famous line)
I wish all of this TV special was on CZcams videos search engine maybe it's on Facebook search engine or Google search engine
Do you have part 2?
Everything was too strange back then. But I don't mean that in a bad way. It would be zany television programming. You would get done watching this then maybe watch American bandstand. Then we could get on my bike for a few hours come back in and there be some programming on. And then I will get bored and go find something else to do. And then you would have like afternoon late night TV kick in. And whether you like it or not that would be for this good strange stuff. And then you would go to bed and wake up on Sunday and go to church.
I miss those "strange years".
8:00 Albus Dumbledore - "Let the feast begin!"
I wish you could upload an old episode of the Incredible Hulk tv show with Bill Bixby. Id love that and or maybe an old Threes Company epsode with commercials.
Can you please find of the ABC Weekend Specials called A Different Twist?
Rest In Peace Jane Withers , where is part 2????? 😔
Only in 1981 could an unaccompanied minor ride a bus and take a cab to their destination.
