LMS 44871 storms the North Warwickshire line with ‘The Stratford Flyer’ 9/3/24

- The Stratford Flyer- operated by LMS Black 5 44871 from Manchester Piccadilly to Stratford upon Avon and return
The day would start with an early morning commute to meet @LiamsLocos and head to Stoke on Trent/ Stone (Staffordshire). Liam would take the other camera to Stoke on Trent to grab the opening shot of 44871 working 1Z64 while I filmed at Stone. Had we known the canopy was having work done at Stoke on Trent we would’ve chosen a different location. I expected the station to be quiet at Stone but the locals got wind of it and a crowd formed.
A quick dash back to Stafford to try and beat the train to Penkridge fell through when our train started running late and the signallers let the black 5 go early, so we made our way to Spring Road and Hall Green where the loco put on a fine display working away from the junction at Tyseley, blasting through Spring Road and Hall Green.
We then moved over to Hatton North to get the turning move. The original plan was to get two shots (Hatton north jct and Shrewley) but the turning move ran 85 early so we had to stick to Hatton north.
For the return shot I headed off to Danzey where 44871 came by 2 early working 1Z65 Stratford upon Avon to Manchester Piccadilly.
Overall a fantastic day out seeing 44871 perform faultlessly. Thanks to all the crew involved and great to see @LiamsLocos @harnettyrailways @James_Trains and @GreatBritishRailways1

Great video. The black 5 looks like it was going well.
Magnificent, safe to say my wrist has broken!!
As always mate we have a blast when we go out together, working as a team turned out pretty good in the end.

Luke, Shades of Old Hill at Stone with the crowds. Whilst I opted for the station at Danzey your approach shot was excellent. Good to meet up as we appear to have similar choice of locations. Regards, John
Yes there were quite a few of the locals that descended on the platform 10 minutes before it was due to pass. Very much like Old Hill 🤣 thanks John. Was great to see you too

I caught it at Yardley Wood, jumped on the following local train into Stratford upon Avon hoping to see it leave towards Dorridge for turning but it left early and passed me at Stratford Parkway ☹️ i then went to the over to The Lakes Station and into Clowes Wood to see its return journey to Manchester

Yeah it's a good spot there or the footbridge a lil further along too. Got a few more visits planned in the next few months, 6th April will be my next one
