One thing that makes TMA and TMP different so far is that unlike TMA the staff here actually talk to each other. It will be interesting to see how things evolve with everyone (other than Gwen and Lena) talking to each other

2. I am here for Alice actually telling Sam and Celia about her supernatural experience, and having both of them instantly believe her! We need that support in our team! No isolation, no bottling things up and keeping bad things to yourself, open and honest communication is key! I love it!!! (Now, if only Gwen could join in on all this too, with all she’s going through, that would be great!)

7. Damn, Lena is _pissed!_ She actually seems properly concerned about the situation! Color me genuinely surprised!
8. But yeah, Gwen’s right, Lena. If you keep her in the dark about literally everything, she’s going to make mistakes; possibly deadly mistakes. Yes, _we know_ it was a stupid idea to bring Lady Mowbray into the office and give her a tour, but Gwen literally doesn’t know what kind of threat level she’s up against with each of the Externals. The worst she’s seen so far is Mr. Bonzo, and compared to him, Lady Mowbray probably seemed like a reasonable human person who Gwen could deal with in a civil manner. You need to train her for her new position! I know you seem like you don’t like divulging information, Lena, but you _need to_ in this case, or something is going to go terribly wrong! 😥
For #8, Gwen could have also ASKED first. She's still technically "training"? But I do agree that Gwen seems like the type that wouldn't like being micromanaged, either.

What I want to know is how does Fr3d1 dig up the files? Madame E's last video wasn't posted which means it was either halted in the process of being uploaded, so it had a channel to the internet, or it remained on the device without a channel to the internet, and lets assume it was a cell phone. So how could Fr3d1 have access to files on a device when those files have no port to the internet? Can it find a port into any device, if so, how? How long ago did Fr3d1 archive that file, was it directly after it was created or was it after it archived the entire chronicle? And if it was after Madame E's death, how then was Fr3d1 able to access her phone? She wouldn't be active on it and it is only a matter of time before the phone battery dies, so it couldn't have been long after. We know that Fr3d1 can access people's microphone on their cell phones by dialing their number and it can access modems and security cameras, we don't know if it has a way to access that device's internal storage and we don't know if it has a way to access computers outside of the department network. So how is Fr3d1 retrieving data?

Well then, Ink5oul strikes again and reminds us that they aren't just a creepy tattoo artist. The graverobbing is interesting, up until this point I had Ink5oul pinned as either Flesh or Slaughter and I'm not sure what they'd be using the corpses for. The case itself strikes me as Slaughter coded, being about the verbal, emotional and physical abuse hurled at online influencers. That ending is almost certainly something inside Madame E's heart (or the heart itself) clawing its way out chestburster style.
It was also nice to see Lena actually DO something helpful for once and call Gwen out for bringing a fucking HUNTER into the office! Great job Gwen, let's invite the fox into the rabbit warren and serve them TEA! And oh god Lady Mowbray probably has everyone's scents now, that's totally not gonna (literally) bite them in the arse.
Counterpoint: Ink5soul is more Stranger-coded.
Part of Stranger's thing included skin, while Flesh is more about what's beneath the skin - slaughtering for food purposes. Along with them not being afraid of skin grafting, which based on what we've seen Ink5oul do with digging up bodies (presumably old clients who died so they can collect the tattoos). With a hint of Web because of knowing how to "get under the skin" of Madame E by asking if she was a "real goth".
I even have a headcanon that their own skin covered in a patchwork of different tattoos from other bodies that were similar enough to come off as human, but feeling "off".
I think the episode itself has alot of Eye and potentially Web connotations as well.
with the idea of the views and comments litterally hurting them feels like an extrapolation of being watched and judged for everything you do, and the tattoo giving ink5oul some control over the person as well as the wrongful framing feels manipulative and web-like.
This is also the second time we've seen them go grave robbing which is also a little End Coded.
I wonder if Ink5oul is a bit of an all rounder, like they invoke all of the powers in some way. If they are an avatar though I'd pin them as End or Web, maybe flesh but im not feeling that.
I WENT THROUGH EVERY STAGE OF GRIEF LISTENING TO THIS WOMAN
This statement was physically painful to listen through, but i genuinely felt bad for Madame E. You could tell she was just putting up an act for the camera up until she was on her deathbed. I could actually relate to this statement a bit, I got a bunch of hate comments on tiktok the other day from people telling me that "poor people dont deserve pets" (all i did was point out some people cant afford to spay their pets lol). Even knowing that people are just looking to start shit online, it still surprises you how many people out there find it easy to say the most horrible shit to someone. It hurts more than you'd expect.
On another note, Gwen's malicious compliance was valid but still incredibly stupid. Celia's absolutely going to get Hunted in the future because of that.

This is the most terrifying episode of the magnus verse and it's not anything to do with the horror of it
The case today has a return of Ink5oul and the tattoo they give Madame Electrum is tied to her social media presence. She felt great after the collab with Ink5oul but felt worse and worse as people turned against her on social media after denying to help with graverobbing. The prolonged pauses between posting may also have caused her decline. Then the moment she says she quits with social media, her heart stops and/or bursts out? Life=exposure, attention. Formerly this would have been a case of the Eye, with a side of the Flesh. But as with the last time Ink5oul came up, I think this is an entity focused on attention and people's outward appearance.

Just like with the artist from episode two, it seems like Ink5oul's tattoos are connected to the desires of the ppl they are tattooed on, which is an interesting twist of the "Be careful what you wish for" trope

@@happymystake4123 A lot of the supernatural effects so far have seemed to have positive sides as well. The dice and the investment app both had upsides of a sort, and only really got bad when the person using them tried to stop. I think a lot of the people in these situations are closer to avatars than they are to victims, and when they decide to stop doing whatever it is, they've been doing they're getting eaten.

Ok, so far Ive been noticing some common themes between episodes, and I just wanted to gather my thoughts about them, so I apologize if this sounds like rambling.
1. Hunger and Violence: I can point out a few instances where hunger has been a major theme of a case, often followed by a display of violence caused by said hunger: the hungry violin, the guy who almost got eaten by the people in the tower and Lady Mobraw's whole deal comes to mind
2. Curiosity: red canary and the horror blogger who went to dangerous extremes to satisfy their own curiosity (one can argue curiosity is another kind of "hunger"), this connects to the Magnus Institute and Sam's storyline.
3. Luck and gambling: Lena told gwen that the world is full of "opposing forces", I bet that one of those forces are good luck vs bad luck, or just causality/fortune in general, as exemplified by the cursed dice and the app who gives money in turn of messing one's life.
4. Desire: there's the popular theory that whatever equivalent of the entities in this world are based on Desire rather than fear (again, one can argue that desire is some kind of hunger), but fear still seems to be a prevalent force in TMAGP universe. What I think is the case, is that theres ppl like Ink5oul who try to channel this "forces" to grant wishes trough their tattoos, and it backfires horribly.
This is all I can gather, if anyone notices anything else, Id love to read it, thank you for reading

6. Nature and Infection: so far we've had two cases regarding familiar themes of infection, but also added a natural element, the man from Growing Roots whose rotting wounds become plants, and the manager of the pet shop that is made out of snakes, with the snakes being implied to be transmitted like a disease (this is my favorite theme so far and I can't wait to see it develop more)

The Horizon: Owned by unidentified corpse, possibly passed over to Gordon J - exact effects unknown - most likely Vast aligned.
The Heart: Owned by Madame E - causes negative opinions of the user to physically harm them - most likely Eye aligned.
I believe that Ink5oul is in a way like Breekon and Hope, serving one power but using many others to do so. So while harsh judgement is definitely Eye, the effects are coming from a new part of Madame E's body, which would be Flesh.

We know characters can cross already so it makes sense for her to have somehow ended up in this world after ep200.
She was in a Vast domain, explaining the water in her lungs and the dead but still suffering ailment, plus the tape recorder is a dead giveaway. I reckon more tape recorders and people like this will start popping up

My own theory was that she was Alison Leshi from TMP 10 (Marked). The email from Gordon included photos of the Vast sea tattoos in them, so maybe no one involved got away from it in the end.
Side note: The fact that the tape recorder was gone when Alice got back makes me think it skittered away or something

i really love the implication that, since those tattoos might act upon our true desires, but in a very twisted way. when madam e wished for the hate to stop, instead of the people quitting, its the heart put an end to madam's suffering. she didnt specify who or what should stop, so....
it's truly horrible how cruel people on the net can be for no particular reasin, just because fans sometimes act like a hivemind, instead if their own individual people, can't see rhe cosequences of their own actions and still keep going.

The Magnus Protocol feels really feels like the biggest things here are not a categorised fear, but a place of vulnerability for the victims when they're in a high emotional state. Especially when it's to do with wanting and desiring something (physical, emotional, etc). Looking forward to more coming.

Okay so Ink5oul is definitely going to be a frequent flier

Firstly, I loved the: "DIG (BRUH!!!)" bit!
Secondly, was the cracking sound near the end of the episode actually the script-writer's brain cracking under all the influencer slang?
Thirdly, a more serious note is that this is a good commentary on the harm social media can have on an individual, and being aware of how words can hurt.
And finally, this show keeps hinting at all sorts. Two very recent episodes ended with deaths in hospital. Is this the same hospital, or at least run by the same private company? Are they harvesting deaths? Probably a Red Herring, but this interested me.
i saw a prior comment a few episodes ago about tea instead of coffee symbolsing a connection with the magnus institue, or maybe the alternate reality (unsure about that), but Alice having tea after last episode and its undeniable supernatural spookyness just makes me believe all the more in it! interesting that sam brings her the tea, curious to see if that is foreshadowing to him draggin her further into the mystery, or maybe an echoe of how he already did so, like their romp through the old institue.
ALSO! Anyone else notice the TINIEST bit of sound distortion when Celia denied knowing what exactly happened? yeah, freddy is calling you out there! damn, i love these details :D

What she did was stupid every kind of way, even for normal people. I think Gwen is so desperate for social climbing that she'd side with Mowbray committing mass murder if she thought it only happened to lower class and got her higher position.

I know this is supposed to be to be different but mangus archives with people’s actual reports read by the archivist!! How they were trying to find stuff out!! The monsters there seemed much more menacing!! Also the connections made after investigation!! I can’t put my finger on it but it feels like it’s lacking something in the protocol! But much love to the creators!! Also I think I miss John’s iconic narrations! Can someone actually tell me why does this not fulfil my Magnus archives hole?!
I feel that the conclusions of the statements are way too straightforward. In TMA the subjects just witnessed something strange or off and a few moments before figuring out the situation they got into they leave, then Jon adds some fact that makes the situation even more concerning and the audience is left figuring out what would have happened. In TMP mostly everything ends with "and then they died, FIN"
thank you for saying this!!! i'm not usually too critical oof stuff but i'm finding protocol very lacking. i think the major issue is how everything seems way to predictable, like lena being a spooky boss straight away, and the monsters just being "ooo thing i spooky!! person dies!!!" rather than having an interesting concept like in TMA. I was really hoping this would be better but the writing is frustrating me..
@@berryhourz My guess is that they are writing it like that, because after TMA we already expect there to be entities and spooky bosses etc. So this time, these will not be the big revelations, but something else we don't know yet.
Okay I think this episode ties back in to tmp being about desire instead of fear. All Madame wanted was to be noticed and loved by her fans, and that’s what killed her in the end. And ink soul tattoos their “desires”. Idk… I feel like there’s something there.

I love that Alice actually told her friends/coworkers what had happened to her. It’s such a healthy response in a series where the characters usually become paranoid and isolated as a result of the horrors.
I feel like inksoul is close to Mary Kaey and the process of binding through all the ink on skin. Maybe with a combination of the book that tells you how you die, tying them to some kind of fate
A little bit actually weirded out now- not even 15 minutes after I listened to this, the TMA episode with Sergey Ushanka popped up in my recommended while I was listening to music. I cannot emphasize enough that I haven't listened to any of TMA lately, the only thing from Rusty Quill I've listened to in several weeks has been this has it comes out each week, and the video I was on wasn't at all related to this or to TMA.
I'm guessing it's some weird youtube algorithm thing, maybe a lot of people that watched this went back at watched that episode afterwards so it started recommending it to folks who watched this, but a little bit unnerving either way.

Another great episode- and real goth cred name-dropping Highgate Cemetery. (even though some of the popular lingo used seemed decidedly not goth, but I feel like that was intentional and added to the character!) It had been on my wishlist to visit since I was in 7th grade and read about the vampire craze there in the 60s/70s. When I finally got to visit England for the first time in 2006 it was one of the first places I demanded to go. It definitely lives up to the hype! Absolutely gorgeous. It's worth the million stairs I had to climb out of the tube station to get there!
I strongly recommend reading the transcript for this, its at least 15 percent less painful to just read the AAVE/slang words
fantastic episode! I just wish “cringe words” (for lack of a better term) had a warning 😭 it was funny but madam E is uncomfortably and amazingly real.
