The author David Rees wrote a childrens book about this called "The House That Moved". The Teignmouth Inn was demolished the same day.

Amazing feat of engineering, taking four days to move. The daughter of the architect in charge worked at my son's school (25 yrs ago) and I'm wondering if he's Mr Pryke in the video.
Absolutely brilliant to see it being moved. :)

The whole area where the house came from was demolished shortly after ,losing many more historic buildings for the sake of a massive roundabout that never solved Exeters traffic problems. What Hitler never destroyed the local council continue to do so to this day!

Very stupid choice of music for something that’s actually an amazing achievement. Why play Laurel and Hardy music as if it’s foolish and stupid?

Can't agree with you strongly enough o p. I just came across this incredible video as I've walked past the house loads of times over the years. It's been totally ruined by the choice of music. Silence would have been better!
