Just came across your video, and had to subscribed immediately. I am just in the process of starting a sports apparel brand(more workout and compression garments), so could definately use all these advice. Could you please elaborate on how you took the initial orders at the trade shows, for example did you take deposits?did you invoice immediately for the orders etc I guess, I need to know what guarantee you had that you would receive payments fo rthe orders. Did you have to take that risk? Also, i like to manufacture in Europe but can't locate a good manufacture. Could you recommend any for me to visit. Thanks again fo rthe video...its awesome info!!!

It is a good question you have because you are right you have to watch out - because selling your brand to shops is only fun as long as they pay. I did not have a 100% specific set of rules. I evaluated each client at the time. I am from Denmark so for a the Danish clients I gave them a 30 days credit - unless I knew they were not financial stabile. In your own country it might be easier to figurte out if a shops is ok to sell to or not.
For shops abroad I asked everyone for prepayment - unless it was some kind of very famous/old/well-know shop where I was expecting they were able to pay - then I gave them a short credit line.

You're video's are really helpfull for a starting brand like me. I'm thinking about producing T-shirts and sweaters next AW18. As you said it's essential to work with a factory who helps and supports you during your first time producing. Is it possible for you to give me advise for good factories? Hi, i just wonder if you could tell a little more about how you producted the clothes. I want to start something small on Instagram, but its so hard to find out where to product the clothes. I literally just want some white and black basics, where we put on a little logo at the chest, and then a Big brint on the back.
Mathilde Montaser hi :) if what you want to do it basic I suggest you find some very nice blank tshirts or sweatshirts and have them printed locally.
My favorit blanks are for sure CS Apparel www.cs-apparel.com They are organic and made in Portugal. And when you order for blanks it is much cheaper prices then you see on the website.
Many of the blank tshirt companies have no minimums and you can start small.

Hi when the buyers asked for orders. Do they pay you to make that order production or do you pay.
It all depend on how much the buyers want you product. But for many new brands it is hard to get the buyer to pay up-front.
You have to have credit facility Kasha, I can help you learn how to do it

what are the best high end factories in Portugal or Italy ?
Actually this is one of the ceo's i believe of a really big factory in portugal. That's why he's so keen on teaching how to start a clothing brand. They're also really professional!
Hi Mandela... Good question... There are many high-end factories in Portugal and many of the high-end brands from France and Italy like you see on the runway are producing in Portugal. Honestly I do not know that many but I think most of them have really good websites so try to search online. You can also look for an agency... that is easy to find in google. They usually take a small cut but it can help you find good factories and also help run you production.

Jeg har lavet et par tegninger, og nu mangler jeg bare at få dem produceret. Hvad er det næste jeg skal gøre? I will start making the designs and yes if you can get your drawings into a computer it is better than handdrawn sketches. It looks a bit more professional. Then write to different factories and send the designs... They will then give you prices, delivery dates ect. They will probably also ask you to send them some swatches of fabric you like so they can find similar fabrics. So maybe go to a store and sind something in a nice quality.... and from there the factory should help you with the rest :)
