- PES 2018 is not without its flaws, many of which will both frustrate and disappoint you, but its excellent on-pitch gameplay helps it overcome most of those hurdles and come out the other side an extremely enjoyable football sim.

On ps4 you can make this games more realistic in edit mode, for me pes 2018 is the best football games ever made.
i didnt like any pes from 2014 up to 2017 but this one is amazing i bought this one and license are not issue.

On the other hand P.E.S was introduced to us firstly as Pro Evolution Soccer, lately they started to introduce a shortcut for it on the cover while sometimes the "Pro Evolution Soccer name" was beside it, so you can't argue with someone who calls it the RIGHT WAY as P....E....S

Atmosphere WAS a thing last time in PES 3!!! That version was tense, crowd yelling, commentator going crazy when a goal is scored, players actually celebrating when they score. Now it's all bland, no passion. Players don't run aggressively to the corner to celebrate the goal with the fans - they just jog no matter if they scored while being 5 goals ahead or 1-0 in the 90 th minute of the world cup final. It's all the same. Even the soundtrack in PES 3 was some tense trance style. Nowadays you can hear some village music with banjos. We need a beat, something energetic - emotion if you will. What am I talking about? Just remember that SNES Super Star Soccer commentator going nuts. Goal! Goal! Gooooooooaaaalll!!

Now all that PES needs is pretty grass and stadium lighting to surpass FIFA, cause the licenses can be put in with option files and I can even get my national selection with it’s original uniform.
I feel this pace in the gameplay should be in fifa 19. I also feel this feels faster than 17 but in a good way. I guess they made strides with fluidity.

I agree with the basic points raised by the review. Pes has always been better than fifa at gameplay. Only the most ardent fifa fans would argue against that. Where pes consistently falls down and in some respects getting worse is licensing and atmosphere. Licensing in particular is troubling as they seem to be heading backwards. I remember when it was just the English leagues that were unlicensed but now even the Spanish leagues are messed up. So too Italian and Portuguese. It's also been a long time since we had the German leagues officially in the game . Licensed or not. This is poor. Yes I know you can download option files. I've got one which fixes a lot of the leagues apart from Portuguese and adds German 1st division but as long as pes remains this way it will always lag behind fifa in terms of sales. Konami seem to think it's all about gameplay but they're wrong. That's why we download option files. Pes will remain a community game so long as nothing changes while fifa will forever remain the mainstream option. Don't even get me started on commentary crowd chants etc etc. There pes is just lamentable compared to fifa. They need to improve on this.

The reason why the keeper's like shit is because you're playing easy difficulty. You need to play higher difficulty so the keeper's prowess will increase too. It's like a package easy game = easy keepers, harder game = harder plays and good keepers. Konami should make easy difficulty games have "harder difficulty" keepers and so on.... just my 2 cents.
I played on superstar on pes and legendary on fifa .. In both games the keepers couldn't save a word file if their lives depended on it..

people that don't know you can easily download unofficial patches (examples: PTE patch, smoke patch, pesuniverse patch, etc just to name a few) which fixes every team name plus team kits which you can play in online mode i don't know why no one says this why because its unofficial? this patches come out very often which updates team roster formation kits each and everything plus there are many more things like adding new stadiums which are not in the game itself like emirates, allianz, etihad, santiago bernabeau, old traford etc plus referee kits and pitch enhancer or HD pitch weather changes like fog can be added easily by downloading simple patches everyone just say it does not have licence stadiums kits ? well search on google don't brag about it

The goalkeeping being terrible is a big problem.. Loved the last one but I love the new fifa and I don't know it might just be dis video but the graphics look of.. Doesn't even look as good as the last one

just download the many option files... full leagues and licenses loaded in minutes. You can also replace the PES,PAS, leagues etc.. with the MLS, Bundesliga, Mexican, SPL leagues. I did that in 2017 version for PS4. Played both. FIFA looks and sounds much better than PES, and rocks in every deprtment, however when you get to the pitch the actual animations and gameplay are way better on PES. Fifa has improved but still after nearly 2 decades still suffers from button delay. It has improved but just not as instant as PES. Mistime a tackle in Fifa and forget about it... players still take time to finish their animations. Same problems every year for Fifa. PES AI isn't as good this year compared to last year. Smoother gameplay and better keepers. They need to fix the sound which costs nothing...lazy from konami. So this year I'm not buying any of them as they've both went 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Pes completely overtook FIFA since last year.It looks to be the same this year, since they've managed to make the gameplay even better.The only thing FIFA has over Pes is licenses,but that could also be overlook given that you just have to install a package,and voila.Fifa looks to be the same as last year,same old arcade style gameplay,like a ping pong game.
