- What's up, folks! I'm back with another Joni Mitchell reaction, this time from the 1969 album Clouds, which begins with the sonically tender and lyrically engaging "Tin Angel." So join me as move to the next chapter in the Joni journey. Cheers, and shout-out once again to Nikola.
Also I run a Patreon featuring extra content of different types, so anyone interested in supporting what we do here on CZcams and getting early-access to video-watchalongs and reactions blocked on CZcams, as well as behind-the-scenes videos, video-reactions, and blooper-reels from my videos, can go here: / shnootz

My all-time favorite Joni song. :)
Yay more Joni! Thnx Matt!
This was the final song where she had a track produced by someone else (Paul A. Rothchild), as it was apparently not a good experience. Joni has dismissed the album as being an attempt to ape Crosby, Stills and Nash's sound (Stephen Still's plays on the album and, if you remember, she had had a brief fling with David Crosby, who had produced her first album, and would have a longer relationship with Graham Nash). You can kind of her it on this track, with it's slightly medieval stylings, both sonically and lyrically, with all it's talk of tapestries, Golden Prince's, castles and wizardry. So she talk of casting off the trinkets and memories of old lovers past as she thinks she has found a new one. The mention of Bleecker Street rather interrupts the medieval feel, setting it in the present (and she will return later to the Street in Song For Sharon, one of my favourite Joni tracks). "There's a sorrow in his eyes, like an angel made of tin" - this suggests that her perception of this guy is someone who has been hurt and built a hard exterior but it's tin, a soft, malleable metal and the lines "what will happen if I try, to place another heart in him" sems to reference the tin man in the Wizard of Oz. I like it's sombre, stark sound, streaked with hope.
