Euro NCAP Crash Test of Mazda 3 2019

  • Euro NCAP performs a series of crash tests on each model tested:
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
    - an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
    A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
    Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.
    All details on the Euro NCAP Website:

    the emergency brake support once saved me from a collision with another car that stood still on the road, i was talking to my wife and looked at her for 1/2 seconds, i never noticed the car in front of me, the brakes activated and i got saved from a crash, thank you mazda :)

    So my friend loved her "uncrashable" car with collision detection. It thought a plastic bag was a person. Full stop. rear ended. She saw it coming in rear view. Hit the accelerator. The car... Disagreed. Turned on ABS.
    These systems sometimes save lives. However they cause an utter shitload of "less fatal" crashes. I turned mine off after the first week. Almost killed me repeatedly. Thought a raised train track was a pedestrian... It literally insisted I stop on a level train crossing for... Safety. The way you stop the auto brake is you quickly turn the wheel. Yep, if the car brakes hard when you don't want it to you "fix" this by whipping the wheel (almost a quarter turn to disengage). Things you DO NOT want to do when braking hard. That. Exactly and specifically that. Their reasoning. It's safer to not have the braking stopped by the accelerator as people might push the wrong pedal.
    Honestly the system is so horrific it MUST be hurting people. People must drive while eating spaghetti and texting if these (usually) very poor systems help, ever.

      What is the scenario that a crash through the back will permeate to the back passengers. Back passengers will be harmed if the Mazda is stationary while the object behind it is going 100km/h. If the goal is to prevent back crashes then the next question is whether to increase the mass of the entire vehicle as with any crash, the object with the lower mass will be at an disadvantage.

    • @TheLeo6890
      @TheLeo6890 Před 5 lety

      @@wyw201 there must be a reason why ncap does not show a rear impact ,maybe is not common but it could happens ,and for particular cases of mazdas mexico made, the rear bumper is not installed as part of the chasis structure , is just the plastic what is covering the rear side , idk if the bumper can makes a difference in a rear impact because there is no protection in an area where kids are usually found, not counting the tank fuel is located near the rear.

      @Zirkobi Před 5 lety

      @@anthonymolina7416 I am well aware of crumble zones. The difference is in how quick those crumbles zones are to actually crumble during impact, and when it happens this badly to a car against a soft and deformable barrier, then it clearly shows that the crumble zone will not actually keep you safe in a crash, as it'll be broken down way too quickly before actually getting to the A-pillar. So yeah, EuroNCAP may be giving this 5 starts, and if give it a max of two. And don't even get me started on all the electrical "safety" gear.

      @@Zirkobi Yeah, but who knows better - a European agency with petabytes of data, state-of-the-art facilities and the best teams of electrical, mechanical, material and computer engineers or a random idiot on the internet? Tough one...

      @@ricardolourizela5961 Apparently the "random idiot" on the internet, as most crashes happen at higher speeds than the speed of these tests being conducted. So yeah it's all about how durable the car is, and this Mazda crumbles way more than it should. Besides, the electric "safety" measures wouldn't help you either if someone came banging into you, from behind.

    The back of the hatch looks like an Alfa. The back of the sedan looks like a Mitsubishi lancer.
    Why do they just copy other manufacturers? And Mazdas suck
