fallout 5 deacon is the main protagonist that's why he respawns he just loaded a save before he died and avoided good neighbor
or he just sends Synth versions of himself to those places

I think Deacon spawns in whatever cell he's needed. You can also encounter the weird glitch in the matrix where Deacon will be the drifter in a flannel and jeans outside of Kleo's shop, but then will be in the memory lounger in the farmhand outfit when you go in to the memory den.

That's totally different dialogue from what Deacon normally says. That's interesting. Normally he tells Desdemona that you're a big deal because he's been following you around.

That's cool, when Deacon admitted to spying on you, I just assumed that was just a line of dialog and didn't take it literally. Awesome to know he really IS hanging around in places, I'll keep a look out for him on my next playthrough.
He doesn't spawn back as the other Deacon. The game considers "Deacon" and "Drifter" to be different NPCs. Deacon was hanging out in the Railroad headquarters the entire time.
Who's to say deacon didn't already know you were going to kill him so he took on a different disguise. He is a master of them after all.

I thought Deacon's appearance in Diamond City and Goodneighbor were random, but perhaps I was just not paying attention. Of course, I never remember to look for him until he's been discovered elsewhere anyway. :-)

Deacon changes his appearance every once in a while, if you follow the storyline you find that out and he changes his appearance to the bald guy after you meet him the first time. So you should have tried after

He is also in the memory den, but he is in a memory lounger, so you can't kill him there, there are other versions of him too, like Bunker Hill.

You used a mod to kill essential NPCs in a game built with the assumption that essential NPCs can't permanently die without a special quest trigger. I'm honestly only surprised that the Good Neighbor spawn was delayed.
Deacon the companion is a separate npc than deacon spying on you. You can have them both in the same place if teleport deacon the companion to your location

Lol im just 1:30 into the video and I realized I already killed him before even knowing about Deacon and the Railroad, as I kill as many unnamed and unimportant characters as I can, with sneak attacks. Free XP and ammo. I remember doing this in New Vegas. Those poor NCR bastards.
By the way you can kill the security guard Deacon without mods.

All other Deacons are completely different NPCs, thats why you can still meet him at the old church even if you killed the other NPCs that were made as his undercover versions that spy on you

Pretty sure you people are just overthinking it, it's not deacon but bethesdas poorly made characters that look exactly the same and everyone having the same voice actor.
Both Rn you prpbably already read through the comments and figures this out already, but, this IS deacon in all of the locations, he's been watching you the whole game, if you kill him in one of his disguises his dialogue changes when desd asls him if he knows who you are. The original dialogue (when you don't kill his disguise) acknowledges that you're a "big deal" in the commonwealth. Listen to his dialogue in the video here after desd asks who you are.

I don't remember deacon being being by the shops in good neighbor, but in the memory den. I couldn't wait to start the silver shroud missions and noticed him in a machine by Kent's room.
I have seen drifter Deacon in the memory den in one of the pods so that might be why he didn't spawn for you

the game probably uses separate a npc for each one at least between them and deacon himself
Before watching: Yes he will still be there as each version of Deacon is coded as a stand alone character model not actually being the "same" Deacon we get introduced to.

The reason why is because the Deacon that is in Disguise is a separate and NPC from the Deacon who is not in disguise.
Deacon is located in the memory den.
Deacon wears a wig.
Deacon never stands next to Little Drummer Boy when you're coming in. He always just shows up behind Desdemona.
Deacon also spawns at Bunker Hill to the left of the main gate. Also sometimes he is at different places in good neighbor.
making then non essential doesnt change their overall scripting for major events, so even if you made them non-essential for all intents they are still an essential npc that will respawn later on in the game.

Undercover deacon is a different npc than normal npc. They are supposed to be the same person, but instead of changing his hair from bald to Elvis, they just created a different npc for when he is undercover.

Well, he's a synth so basically an AI with really advanced robot-organic chassis, he probably just transfers his consciousness after losing a body or even totally exists in the internet having radio-controlled bodies.
Deacon also can be found in bunker hill as a caravan guard.
I found Deacon north of Mass Fusion on top of a truck dressed as a gunner amd dead. I still saw him in the other places though. What is happening here? Was the dead gunner Deacon some kind of LMD?

In fact, you can spawn all 3 of them to you at the same time with console commands.
And he's not essential. You can march in and kill EVERYONE at the Railroad whitout the small talk and can decode the courser chip by yourself.

before even watching the video. Without mods, you can't kill deacon. You see him undercover at Goodneighbor. He doesn't die, just sits on the floor.

I didn’t even realize he went under cover until I found him in Goodneighbor literally just yesterday. This game has been out for how long now? Illuminati confirmed that this popped up in my recommendations a day after.
Just an idea, but did you see his name tag turn green when he was killed? Could it be that the game just treated him as knocked out?
