Self deprecation. She wasn't afraid to send herself up. And it's part of the reason she got away with doing it to others. She was extremely funny, endearing and very cleaver because despite sending herself up she'd make men - or the topic of her jokes - look worse. RIP Joan. Thanks for all the laughter.
