This grocery store scene happened to be shot right across the street from my home. I went over to watch some of the filming and Sophia Loren passed me in the parking lot walking to her trailer. She smiled and said hello and I realized I was looking at the most beautiful woman in the world. She looks even more fabulous in person believe it or not. In 1995 she was already in her early 60s amazingly. Quite a thrill!!
Burgess Meredith was suffering from Alzheimer’s at this point in his life, but man you wouldn’t be able to tell. He was such a great actor and true pro!
My grandfather had dementia and its horrible to sit back and watch someone suffer that Burgess did fantastic in this movie because the laspes in memory can happen anytime then they're back to normal he gave a funny and memorable performance
The grocery store this was filmed at-Coopers on w 7th st in Saint Paul still looks nearly the same. They have great fried chicken. Unfortunately I just heard it will be closing soon. Not a surprise. It’s impossible to compete with the larger chain grocery stores.
You young kids should realize that you're looking at one of THE greatest comedy duo's of all time. Matthau and Lemon have gotten more belly laughs out of Americans than Laurel and Hardy times Abbot and Costello plus a Spade and Farley.
