    I think you nailed it. I have a '21 X5 M50i, so I know the sound well, and I am with you on the crackles and pops. The X pipe would prolly work well too, but the H is appropriate for the vehicle. The fact that the motor is TT means you will never get the volume and pure V8 music you get from a naturally aspirated V8. The good news is that you could prolly delete the rear mufflers (or at least open them up more) to get that volume we all crave. Good work!

    I think if you take off the exhaust tip the large one around ur two pipes it would look better but nice job

    Hey man I found you on bimmerpost talking about your tuned M50i. I just got a 2023 alpine white and was kinda looking to start modifying it and you’re one of the few doing it so I wanted some help. Did you do DME for the tune? Any videos of acceleration tuned? By the way the X5M exhaust sounds great in your new video!

      @@ryanpinkham4119 Thanks. I have another video of the tune. BR-Performance dynotuned it a few years ago

    I definitely can tell the difference from the stock version. It sounds demonic. I love it!!!
    I have an X3 m40i, and I am debating whether to do a muffler or a resonator delete. Pretty much for the same reasons as you stated, I’m at the point of my life where I don’t want my car to be obnoxiously loud, but I would like a little more volume, No rasp.
    I removed the fuse for the exhaust flap, which helped a bit.

    Sounds ok but please adjust the tips, they are sticking out wayyyy to much, especially for a car like this LOL

    Sounds amazing, can you break down quick cost of this project? I just purchased a used 2023 and would like to attempt this sound and power. Thank you!

    I have a 2021 m50i and it stock exhaust sounds a lot wilder to me.

    • @ninefourteener
      @ninefourteener  Před 2 lety +4

      Not likely.... the sound you heard was with the resonator deleted, and the flapper valves welded open.
      Poor cell phone quality audio most likely.
      Or... You are confusing the "fake" sound coming through the car speakers inside the car. I turned that off the day I bought it.
      The M50i isn't a particularly loud vehicle, and I don't want it to be.... the goal was just a bit "healthier".

  • @hollywoodstarfish
    @hollywoodstarfish Před 2 lety +1

    Maybe also add the Dinan exhaust valve remote. Easy install and increases the sound a tiny bit more. Im disappointed M performance eliminated the start rev and some of the cracks and pops. The M 50 gets like 15 miles to the gallon ( I average 8, always drive in Sport plus) who gives a shit about a little bit of extra emissions!

    • @ninefourteener
      @ninefourteener  Před 2 lety +1

      I have already welded the exhaust valves open full-time..... which is better, and far cheaper than Dinan's solution.
      Crackles and pops have much less to do with the exhaust, than they do with tuning parameters. That's why you get "a little of them in sport+ mode, and almost none in comfort (even with valves open on both).
      My tuner (BR-Performance) has the "ability" to program in crackles and pops.... but I don't particularly care for them. In addition, they didn't recommend it on vehicles equipped with OEM catalytic converters...... which my car still has.
      In the US, I would have removed them already. Here in Europe, I cannot, due to annual inspections.

    • @ninefourteener
      @ninefourteener  Před 3 lety +3

      No. The resonator is essentially just another muffler. There are no electronic components (O2 sensors) connected to it.
