This is actually way more tastefully done than most collabs that end up looking like a cheaper or just free promod version of their original laptops.
Razers take on a BAPE keyboard was pretty ugly.

Totally. I could care less about BAPE, but it finally is decent for it's fans. Other limited/fan editions I found intriguing were Asia-only usually.

@@leonro They know those markets better. It's apparent from this video that they still don't know the US market that well. BAPE hasn't been relevant in a while. I chuckled when I heard of the collab.
@@HoloScope I wasn't specifically talking about this (never heard of BAPE), just that I sometimes see random BMW or Mickey Mouse edition phones that are exclusive to Asia. I know that the most popular phone makers (except Apple) are based in Asia, but I don't think I've ever seen a single special edition electronic device advertised in Europe outside of game consoles.

Why ship it to numerous countries and try to find retailers to actually move the stock, when you can make it in the same area or at least region and sell it there, too.

While I don't care at ALL about the brand, I appreciate that they actually put in the effort to make something special with some good integration. Like the figurine, etched track pad, custom startup, custom case, pretty cool... You don't see that everyday in collabs, most would just put a sticker on the laptop, charge 500 dollars extra and call it a day.

The Dell XPS 15 comes with an Arc A370m, I am considering it but I need to know if there are still a lot of compatibility issues.
I am not planning on using this as a gaming device but it would be nice to play a game on it when I am not at home.

I was expecting this to be like 3k usd but for 1200 this is actually not bad
It’s actually a great deal even if u put the collar to the side! 2.5k Oled display, great processor, windows out the box, decent IO, 120hz, 1 TB storage!! All for that price. Then u add the collab design with the carry bag and a mouse!

I personaly would find some use in the wireless mouse for comfy couch mouse purposes, the monkey funkolike statue looks amazing. one thing that I find disappointing is the non replaceable RAM however it is somewhat of a standard practice

I have this laptop and can confirm there is actually a RAM slot. Specifically one of the reasons why I chose the VivoBook S series laptop.

As someone who shops BAPE and used to skip school to camp out in front of Supreme on Fairfax, I can say that’s honestly one of the dopest laptops I have ever seen. I’d be so happy with just the case. Honestly…
ok not hating but just honest question because ive never met someone into this stuff who will actually talk about it, why do you buy or even consider buying these incredibly marked up price products even when you (hopefully) know that you are getting an incredibly marked up thing?

actually insane that a live wallpaper takes up so many resources on a windows machine in 2023 they have been the standard on android phones for well over a decade
Personally, I was wondering whether I'd seen something like that on Win XP.
And even if I hadn't, it shouldn't take more resources than a children's game for Win 95/98.

Lol does anyone still use the live wallpaper? I’ve only seen static one. Maybe someone will have a photo album slideshow of their kids but it’s uncommon and I rarely see an actual live animated wallpaper post galaxy s3/4 where I think one of the defaults was one.

I got a vivobook S 14 oled with a 12500h for 1000 CAD. Is nice. Crazy how cheap they are, especially if you go last gen on the processor - which is around 5% slower than the 13500h.
edit: Got it brand new, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. If you're looking at this, look at ones with 12th gen processors. Also, it has thunderbolt, so you can use an egpu, which is why I got it having had a 3070 and psu laying around, and egpu cards costing around $100 these days for a th3p4g3
Was the laptop tested by labs with or without the background animation enabled?

I have one Vivobook 15.6" OLED with QHD display and man, it's a beast. I've got the one with R7 5th gen.
The laptop microphone sounded fantastic.
Having the most important inputs on the right side is an absolute no-go for me ... I mean, this is where my mouse is.
Isnt the studio really well lit if you compare it to a normal office light?
this was the most seamless switch from studio microphone to webcam microphone, the mic is amazing!

It's in the name Alex, **universal** serial bus. A malicious actor can execute code on devices with that in the worst case.
The Intel Evo line is geared towards businesses (IDK about the Bathing Ape editions though) so it makes sense for them to use a barrel plug.

The storage and wifi are NOT crocked. Not when the alternative might be to have it soldered just like the RAM !
I like the crocked nvme and wifi cards very efficient use of space around the fan chassis doesnt look the best but its inside the case and so long as theyre securly mounted i think this is fine

Knowing BAPE I would’ve expected the laptop to be at least 1.6K
I wish the LABS team did more tests, like verifying the dc dimming feature for the claim that it eliminates PWM flickering, color accuracy on different brightness levels, etc.
Not sure about this particular edition, but I really like the angular design of the base laptop and the orange accents, especially on the silver version. It is a bit reminiscent of the design language used by Teenage Engineering.
I read that is laptop is a good unit for work, I would love to try this one out in the future.
As someone who's ASUS Vivobook failed today - looks like it's the Optane drive - I'm not sure I'll be going back to them.
All of the IO is on the right side (with the exception of one on the left) -- it'd be better in the back, so that it's not interfering with a mouse, if you're using one with the laptop.
That’s exactly where it should be since your right mouse hand is there so you can Easley put stuff in and out of it. I hate left side IO
i just bought the vivobook pro 15 w/ amd 6800h/hs. Finally OLED, wish it was 240hz tho
With the wallpaper, they needed to check if there was any application on the desktop and disable the animation. That's a fairly easy fix. Wallpaper engine and the rest already have this figured out.
The price on this is shockingly fair.
My friend got a bape hoodie and airpods case and phone case and viper sunglasses and now he just needs this laptop lol
It is actually designed and packaged real neat! But all those IO ports on the right side would bother my right hand mouse. Edit: Unless it's meant to be placed on the left side of a monitor with a stand or something

the 2022 models of vivobook s15 included 2 thunderbolt ports and a 90W type c charger, don't know why asus switched back to barrel plug...

I feel like id rather watch movies on a laptop with this screen than a $4000 OLED tv due to it being able to actually crank the brightness super high for most of the window size and pixel density.

"3D Noise reduction" for the mic isn't anything new. Both my Lenovo Ideapad 16" that I got a couple months ago, and my old HP Pavilion 15 I got in 2015 have a Stereo mic array that's used for directional noise reduction. However, the audio quality from both is garbage compared to the ASUS Vivobook, so ASUS did a great job here.
Joke all you want but the way most you feel about computers, pc parts and tech is exactly how the person who would buy this feels about BAPE. Can’t knock what someone else is into…

It's a sad state of affairs that 2 USB A ports and one t-bolt 4 is considered "a good bit of IO" these days. That's pathetic. And that's why I don't use laptops anymore. I want to actually be able to use multiple USB devices without having to use a stupid dongle that always ends up getting lost.
Looking at my 2012 Asus G75VW that has 4 USB Type-A ports, full HDMI, barrel jack, full size SD card slot, headphone jack, mic jack, DP, Ethernet, VGA, and a CD drive.
Seeing these new ones that are "good IO" that have like 2 USB ports and ethernet... it's depressing. I truly miss "desktop replacement" laptops that had enough IO to basically dock it and use a keyboard, mouse, multiple monitors, and other accessories. They're all made to be "super portable" now. Even the 17 inch ones are thin and don't have great IO.

That is pretty odd, but when I checked the link, the official listing for this laptop on the company's product page does say HDMI 1.4. I'm guessing because it's not a gaming laptop, they decided to put a cheaper port in it because it's not going to be driving HDMI 2.1 specs with the hardware in this "thin and light"

The interactive/animated wallpaper makes me wonder... Are we all living in a boringly static wallpaper world just out of habit from the old days when our PCs were so slow it was a neccessity? The pattern looks very cool on the laptop. I really do not feel the color version (on the case). I do not care if people think it is cool. If I would accidentally buy something that makes me seem like part of a fanboy group, it would probably ruin the product for me.
