Where to Shop in Paris: 8 Most Iconic Covered Passages

  • In this video, you'll discover 8 of the best places to shop in Paris featuring the most charming Covered Passages (1800's Antique Shopping Malls) including The Arcades at Palais Royal, Galerie Vivienne, Passage Jouffroy, Passage des Panoramas, Passage Verdeau, Passage Choiseul, Passage du Grand Cerf & Galerie Vero-Dodat.
To really understand the covered passages, imagine what it was like to shop before the streets had cobblestone. Roads were dirty and muddy. It was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Manufacturers and merchants brought their wares to crowded street markets. If the merchants weren't coming to see you at the palace, shopping was an errand to be endured.
    Enjoy!

    About Les Frenchies:
After 32 years in the US, the Duponts moved to France where Antoine was born. Antoine is rediscovering his homeland and sharing it with his American wife Colleen. With the help of his brother Vincent, a renowned Restaurateur (and food snob).
They are on a quest to find the best France has to offer.
There are over 35,000 villages in France, all with their own history, culture, and food. We are on a journey to discover as many of them as we can together. Let’s go.

Well Les Frenchies you guys are giving out some of the best secrets of Paris... The passages are one of our favorite things to do in Paris, takes you back to old world stepping into them, and if the weather is difficult they are a must. They can get full in the summer, even this June during pandemic lunch time was a crush. Vivienne and Panorama are the ones I like the best, but they are all worthwhile...
Maybe you guys could do a "Best Cafes of the Covered Passages" episode or episodes... On y va!

When my husband & I visited Paris in early 2019 we bought him a cane at the Fayet Cane Shop. WERE VERY CLOSE TO PALAIS ROYALE BUT THEN THIS PLACE WAS DESERTED AND I USED TO HAVE MY LUNCH IN THE COURTYARD AND SKETCH A STATUE THAT WAS IN THE MIDDLE..I GUESS ITS NO LONGER THERE! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE IT IS NOW. THERE WAS SOME KIND OF HISTORY OF THE PALAIS ROYALE WHICH I DON'T REMEMBER. Wow, I didn't think there were so many 😄
Can't wait to go visit 👍
Should be in Paris at the end of April and have a little question for you: since I understand it will be during zone C Paris spring vacation, do you believe some things will be closed?
One of your videos done in August you say things can be closed so I wondered for the 2 week spring if it was the same?
Thanks 😊 and maybe I'll see you there making a video 😄
