Big, heavy laptops but they were awesome back in their time. I had one with the same “body style” but was slightly newer and had Windows Vista on it.

Pretty cool to see a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 laptop in action once it's restored! I have noticed that ESPN Motion is installed on it. I have never seen a classic ESPN software program. It could be MCE-related. Nice job!

I can't watch this video because the mere mention of the Inspiron 6000 gives me PTSD back to a childhood laptop I'd rather not remember. it was slow, underpowered, clunky, and the 60GB Toshiba HDD mine was fitted with didn't last. my laptop was also part of the battery recall, and in the end, my sister got the laptop and absolutely destroyed it, and then exploded a pen on top of it, and then I called it quits.

I'd love to own a computer that had Windows XP Media Center Edition someday! Great laptop!

I got one of these laptops donated to me for free back in 2013. I threw a fresh copy of Windows XP on it, loaded up all the Back to the Future movies, and gave it to a dishwasher at the restaurant I worked at who was in desperate need of a computer. The movies were just a bonus because he didn't have TV either. ❤

XP Media Center Edition was my Childhood OS. It's my fav version of XP too.

I never thought I'd see this machine again. Thanks for bringing back the fond memories. I can barely remember the hours and hours spent trying to get machines of this era to work. Thanks Billy.

It has been well thought out, for example media buttons on the front light up attractively. The keyboard also feels lovely.

Ah my go too retro Windows XP machine here for stuff like Colin Mcrae 1, Ignition, Excessive Speed and a few more games from that era. running a 80 gb ide drive here still & a 90w charger rather then the 65w one that is giving it that warning about an " unsupported charger " but crystalcpuid & forcing the cpu too run at it's maximum clockspeed gets around that problem & is cleaner power being newer then the original that's bordering 20 years old by now, one of them i had laying around also caused the backlight too flicker constantly due too the power being unclean so i cut the cord on that & discarded at the recycling place.

I also like that era of Dell laptops, the build quality is excellent, I have a 9300 and a 9400, those laptops have 17 inch screens, the 9300 still has a 160 gig., IDE., drive which works and I installed 2 gig., of ram., which is it's maximum, the 9400 also has 2 gig., of ram., installed, but it takes a Sata drive, so I installed a 64 gig., SSD., both of those laptops have Sparky Linux 32 bit installed and they work well, but they do struggle to play YT., videos even at the lowest settings.

I have the Inspiron e1505 and the Inspiron 1501 both look identical to this laptop. They are both maxed out with SSD’s dual core cpus and 4gb ram. Great laptops even today. I use them for web browsing.

If you're interested, you should check out one of the laptop's more powerful counterparts, the Inspiron 9300. It can be equipped with up to a 256 MB Nvidia GPU and a 1920x1200 display. Apparently, you can get 98 and Me drivers for everything except for the SD card reader.

It's slower than my free HP AMD A4 5000 CPU PC I have put win 11 on and seems useable the PC was free but it's not that fast.
There was also a much faster PC in with the lot its an i3 6100 both have 256 gb ssds in now. it has 8gb ddr 4 ram but its not a normal ATX system.
