      @@gags730 How would you suggest that Putin/Russia be stopped from invading a sovereign nation? I do not disagree that the world should have taken action on other conflicts or earlier in the Ukrainian invasion. And yes, the average Russian citizen is suffering but at whose hand? Putin has created the situation and only he can end it. Who will pay for the physical damages done in Ukraine by Russia, who will pay to rebuild the buildings and who will pay the price for his slaughter of civilians?
      In your last paragraph you ask "Do you think Countries are going to let this happen to them, where other countries snuff them and their people out?" With what country are you suggesting that we sympathize? Russia or Ukraine?

Isn't that what living out the Russian dream is all about - work hard and you too can own a half billion dollar yacht and international airport? There's an old saying when you're selling goods and services, "No publicity is bad publicity."
      There are so many ultra-wealthy folks now learning the names of the companies who build these - I wouldn't be shocked if the publicity will spark new interest in large motor yachts.

      - More vessels will likely be listed for sale and hence depreciation will accelerate across all yachts. That effect might even be intensified with the stock markets and a lot of Western companies (commodity, energy costs, inflation, supply chain issues, etc.) being under huge pressure at the moment which again means that some Western entrepreneurs could be forced to sell their yachts as well.
      - Shipyards (especially in Germany and the Netherlands) might face larger financial difficulties due to a good portion of their main customer group being sanctioned.
      - The effect on crew salaries depends on where the crew of all these Russian-owned vessels came from. Thus if they are all Russians (with some suspicious links) as well it likely won't affect overall crew salary levels as much as if there's a more diverse crew aboard those vessels (so they'll just switch to one of the many new-built yachts... but then again we also don't know by how much the global economy will tank and hence the final impact is highly uncertain as of now...).
      - If the war spreads to NATO and spirals out of control.. well then good night.

I can't care less about these tycoons who's property was stolen by US and their European vassals but all this sanctions and russophobic histeria which purpose was make Russians hate Putin turned into make Russians hate Europeans. Big success ! (((

    • @grondhero
      @grondhero Před 2 lety

      @@markuswunsch I'm curious why you think more vessels will be listed for sale and how this will affect Western stock markets? While Russian purchases account for ~10% of the superyacht industry, as of last week only 133 Russians were on the sanctioned lists. With their accounts frozen in the EU and possibly greater North America, they won't be able to sell their yachts. Why would this make Westerners to start selling their yachts? Yacht sales have been increasing these past two years.

Many of them don’t on paper own anything, shell companies that own shell companies that are subsidiaries of other shell companies are the registered owners. But many governments are doing extensive leg work to trace this web of deceit to the true owner. They even call them the beneficial owner. Some times “wise guys” are actually quite wise.

    Pictures of a superyatch that appears to be in the last stage of the construction, here in Rotterdam being moved from one location to another one. I tracked him to were the 3 tugs dropped it off still here in ROtterdam, further upstrem of the New Maas river, after the Erasmus Bridge that you can see in this picture. The name and the Port of the yatch was covered by some white plastic on the stern and on the side. During the tow they place a temporary AIS on board from one of the tugs, so i could track him due to the movement of the 3 tugs. It was dropped at the pier of the JRC Representative (Alphatron Marine B.V. ) or Van Oord SMD (Address :Schaardijk 211), as this was when the tugs moved out at higher speed (these 2 copanies are adjacent 1 to the other one).
