I liked Rochelle's comment about the microwaved ready meal dinner. For a family the advantage of the microwave was that you no longer needed to wait for the meal to be prepared for everyone to eat, each one could fix something o eat as they had the time, or came in. This reflected the work lifestyle. People no longer could count on everyone having a 9 to 5 work schedule. Many people suddenly found that we were working in a 24 hour world. We got off work depending on what we had to accomplish, or the schedule of someone else on the other side of the world. Factories often worked on a single or double shift schedule prior to the 80's, then we shifted to 24 hour production schedules, no idle time in the industrial world. Cheaper to hire employers to increase production than expanding facilities and capacity through equipment.

I love how the person who made the soundtrack to this seems to have wanted to just include every hit song of the decade in the episode!! Also it's interesting to think about how different things would be in my own country. Here in Brazil we have always had a very stable habit of eating at least one meal of rice and beans + meat / vegetables every day, so i don't think the whole convenience meal thing ever caught on so much (except for instant ramen and Frozen pizza/lasagna, maybe?) But i believe there was a fad of cooking everything on the microwave for a while in the 90's. I wish we had done a survey like that around here throughout the decades, it's so intriguing!

Anyone notice how sugar plays a larger part in the diet as the decades move along.

Vianetta was the most delicious thing ever!!! So many layers of cream and crisp chocolate. We need to bring it back! 🤭

Loving the recurring joke about tin opening devices. It's such a beautiful metaphor of life;-).

I don't like the sign language thing. It's too distracting.

Focus on the main event. The hearing challenged deserve to be able to enjoy the show too.
