Additionally, performing on the Today Show must be pretty nerve wracking!! Yeah, I admit that he was flat in parts and missed some notes. I've taken music classes for a few years and it's clear that this video could have used some improvements. But again, cut him some slack. Please leave some constructive criticism or not leave any comments at all, rather than flat-out state that he sucks. Put yourself in his shoes and don't just go around hating on people because they were nervous in a performance, 'kay?

It’s more than just his voice which he tweaks when producing, it’s his brilliance of composing the whole thing together and is why it is engrained with positive memories for many people.

Two thoughts. 1) The Today Show needs to take lessons from The Howard Stern Show on how to mix a live performance. The mix wasn't good at all, and that's not Owl City's fault. 2) People are giving him a hard time for his singing, but I'm actually glad to hear him without autotune. He didn't do that bad, considering the situation.
He had destroyed his vocals over the years and needed vocal surgery back in 2013 I believe, along with this being his first live performance after having kidney surgery; AND THEN, the mix was terrible and the production was mediocre. His singing is definitely not bad. I saw him live in 2018, absolutely phenomenal performance.
