    The rpm range in boost is the ramp up. It doesn't take away the boost timing past that range. For example if your boost rpm range is 1,000 to 10,000 and you were running 10 degrees of boost you would have 1 degrees at 1,000 rpm, 2 at 2,000, 8 at 8,000, and ten 10 degrees at 10,000 RPM and higher.

    Glad I’m rediscovering this video. Just upgraded my setup to an XD10/D10 combo and tuning has been a challenge simply because I haven’t taken the time to understand it all better.
    Sure, there’s the EuroRC XR10 guide that details what each setting does but at least in this video, I can see what the ESC is doing while in real-time data mode something that other CZcamsrs haven’t explained in their reviews of the XD10 using the OTA link.
    I’ll play around with my settings and tweak for taste.

    Much prefer the OTA. Not only it offers a wider range in a particular setting, I can always click exactly what I want to change real quick. The LCD I can’t tell the many times I missed the what I wanted to change and have to come back around, gets annoying after a few times. I also do tuning on the fly when needed.

    I am a subscriber and new fan of the channel. That being said, I have to complete disagree with your synopsis. Yes, $30 is a little money to save. Sure, u can get most of the same tuning from the LCD box, but and this is a huge BUT, as u mentioned earlier “not knowing what my RPMs are” is a very clear reason to get the Bluetooth OTA. Being able to make real time changes on the fly will allow for a much better and more precise tuning experience. The time it will save u is also a factor. And the on screen diagnostics are amazing.
    Spend the extra $30 and get the Bluetooth OTA.

    OTA is very very interesting to use. If you really want to know everything your vihicle is doing during in different tracks and different conditions. But I have to say that I personally carrying my LCD box with me all the time. Because when you know what your vehicle is doing in different tracks you can easily chenge your basic settings.
    You have to be very interested about your vehicle if you buy that OTA programmer.
    But still I have to say that both of those are VERY easy to use! Big 👍 to HobbyWing for that!

      Agree 100%!
      The OTA will probably be used occassionally, whole the LCD box stays with me in my pit bag.

    The data logging feature has got to be the most interesting part of the OTA. Potentially, it could help save some expensive electronic parts!

      Ended up with the OTA and like it so far. The real time info was ridiculously useful. I already know somethings I have set wrong and have corrected them. Could I have done ok w the LCD, sure.

  • @theAessaya
    @theAessaya Před rokem

    Just a note: Phase AC swap is _not_ the setting for the motor direction rotation. It's used for cases where you want to physically swap your A and C leads to the motor, for aesthetic or whatever reasons. Normally sensored motors do not like it when the phases are swapped, this setting allows for that. So with this set toon, your esc to motor connection would be A->C, B->B, C->A.
    Personally I prefer the OTA programmer in my drift car, it allows me to fine-tune the ESC settings without even picking the car up off the parking spot, and monitor the motor RPM and battery voltage on the fly. In my setup the OTA is permanently left connected to the car, and other club members are also doing the same with theirs.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Před rokem

      Now you have me paranoid. Did I say it that way in the video?
      I have seen a few folks leave the OTA always connected...but I don't want that extra weight on there. Got it - it is not a lot of weight...but still, ever gram counts!

    • @theAessaya
      @theAessaya Před rokem

      @@RoadsideRC yup, that's how I heard you say that in the video :)
      Over here we're not that fussy about the weight, we have cars that are up to 1.6 kg heavy and are still taking podiums, so it's not about the weight, it's about the driver :)

    You might actually already know this and only used a factory settings for the video, but your current "boost Act" set as auto, mean that the value of boost start and end doesn't do anything. Its all auto decided by the ESC. I played a lot with the RPM range and it never feel right for me. So mine is set to auto. A GREAT feature that I really like is the throttle response, I play between 18 and 22 this smooth out acceleration.
    Great video as usual, I'm proud of using an xr10(because of your video btw) vs others with way overpriced ESC that never changed any setting in.

    @turtletrading4207 Před rokem +1

    The OTA is annoying, you have to connect it to Bluetooth, then you have to connect to the ESC then, you do an update. Installing the HW app itself is not easy. Then you have to wait for sometimes a minute to see and change the parameters and then save them. The program box is much more straightforward and easy to use. Also a lot faster to connect.

      I just tested this. The LCD programmer does not work on the 10BL60 or 10BL120 or the MST version of these ESCs. They require the LED programming card, and can also be programmed using the power button/click button method. My OTA has not come yet or I'd try that as well.

    QUESTION: I’ve done hours of research and comparison…… in your opinion:
    I’ve found unique price points between the Yokomo esc/motor combo both mid grade and top of the line, hobbywing top of the line drift esc/motor combo, as well as well sought after acuvance.
    If I’m spending the money I want the smartphone access for adjustments, so the acuvance is out. Is there something YOU think is a notable concern between a Yokomo purchase decision vs hobbywing? I like the idea of a direct drop in motor esc combo offered online that’s in the below $250 price point.
    Thoughts? I currently own the Redcat rds with Yokomo gyro and servo.
