The save he made to prevent the draw was top class. In some cases, he has been our saviour during the good and bad moments, especially during the early years after Ferguson retired.

Had a brilliant game today and a legendary servant for the club. Dread to think were the club would've been without him for a good 4-5 season he carried united on his back. The least he deserves is to finally have a solid back 4 infront of him which hopefully will come with time on the pitch together.

That’s why I always felt the extent of the criticism he faced from the media when he first joined was uncalled for. 20, new club, new country, left his home, his parents & couldn’t speak the language. Difficult for anyone but he didn’t let the haters get him down. Worked hard on & off the pitch even putting in a lot of hours to learn the language so well. Despite recent criticism he’s had a phenomenal career!

De Gea has been a godsend, and at times has been the only reason our club has been able to continue to compete for European football of any sort.
Deserves a new contract to reflect his incredible contributions, as well as his clear love for the club and his willingness to own up on days when he does fall short.
He has fell short on many occasions,he never owned up to them.

I still think he is one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the PL. When he makes a mistake, it gets magnified and blown out of proportion by the media and fans and we always hear the same boring narrative that he is past his best, not a modern goalie, etc. Yet I have seen Allison and Ederson make mistakes quite regularly while passing out from the back or making saves but it quickly gets forgotten and does no harm to their reputation. Maybe its because the teams they play for have been so good and consistent that those mistakes do not cost them any points, they go and score a hatful at the other end. But a mistake is a mistake.
