    I wouldn't be too quick to sell yourself short brother. You've made me burst out laughing way more times than Owen has and I've watched a lot more of his videos. I really appreciate your dry humour and snips (I feel like Brad tries to be funny, and you have a more natural way about it). I also appreciate that you're quick and to the point with your thought process. I watched your new school poker vid and you easily earned the sub from that opening rant alone, let alone the poker. There are a lot of us out there that have the same viewpoint as you, you're just a lot better at putting it together in words and humour. Please don't aspire to be anything different! Poker needs people like you!

      @FranzIsADegen Před 2 měsíci

      It doesn’t matter how tight the threebet is, jamming is better than calling.
      If he only has AA you still have >36% equity and only need like 25% to jam for half pot.
      Jam > call > fold

    • @TheeLilbirdy14
      @TheeLilbirdy14 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I agree, spr is less than half pot if you call so push your equity and you easily could have got him off of a hand like AK or1010, you're blocking AA and JJ so if he has KK or QQ you still have 12 outs, so pretty much 50/50 on the flop against those hands. You actually had 15 outs though against 1010 so you were actually ahead.

    In the rockets hand , you gotta go with your gut and your reads of players you've played with.... but that seemed like a pretty tight fold. He could have easily had A(h) Q(x) K-K or K(h)-Q. 4-1 to call is definitely undervalued when you have Aces over 4s

    In my opinion, I think it was very possible that you might have the winning hand. He had position over you and possibly had q, j in the River or ace queen. You said he would let you know if he had a hand so I’m profiling him as somewhat tight. For 100 on the River , I probably would have called. He probably didn’t put you on over pair so he ruled out flushes and 4s on your part thinking his hand was better and decided to go for value on the River. Or he was slow playing pocket queens and tried to make it cheap for you to call. Either way you had first account of how that player plays. It was a 50/50 call I think. Anyway as always, I look forward to your videos.

    • @NorCal_Poker

      Fair point. Against an unknown, I’m calling 100% of the time for this sizing. But once again, it was strictly player dependent. Appreciate the feedback though. Keeps me thinking & thanks for the support!

    hello alex this is my first time commenting on your channel. i have played hold em for over twenty years and my current home is thunder valley casino. anyway, my question to you is how do u know? in the aces hand where u folded because u believed your opponent had a flush ===how do you know? one of the things i ask people when we go over hands, is what do you think your opponents have and vice versa. in this hand you were only thinking of what u thought he had but what do you think he thought u had? this is very important!! if he thought u had ace-king would he bet his queen in position? i would, especially heads up!! also, he knows that a four or flush in that scenario favors him more so than you. i say this because i feel you should have called this guy because u had aces. u simply beat all of his potential two pair hands. just because its scary doesnt mean it has to be. keep in mind he doesnt know that u dont the flush unless u tell him. and how did u that by checking the turn and river. sometimes, against certain players, u should play poker police or keep betting until he lets u know u r in trouble!! anyway, keep up the good work with the channel and maybe i see u at thunder. i will be the only player wearing a kc chiefs hat.

    • @NorCal_Poker
      @NorCal_Poker  Před 2 měsíci

      Appreciate the feedback! I use the same thought process when making a bet & playing it passively. I think of what do they think I have given with how I play it. And I figure he knows I’m not betting into 5 people without a super strong hand. But it’s definitely possible he could’ve had AQ with the ace of hearts & maybe QJ, but i know he plays a ton of suited stuff so I figured flush was more likely. I will keep an eye out if I ever see you at Thunder! Thanks for supporting!

    Wanted to come straight out. My kid was the same with baseball even though I hate the game myself. I just want to say, anybody who makes all
    League in high school is a legit player. Anybody who starts in college is a legit player. Especially in D1.
    My kid loved the game. And probably could have had a few years in the minors but that’s about it. Played his high school ball with 3 guys that have MLB playing time (2 still rostered). He saw what it would take and realized time to just start life instead. He wasn’t a school guy. He just wanted to play ball. Walked away from a starting spot at the JuCo. Basically, I’m saying that I have done the journey as a parent. Getting as far as you did is impressive. Long Beach is not an also ran program. They are legit.
    Anyways, the phrase “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Is true in high school and before. But once you get past high school, everyone works hard. So it comes to just pure genetic ability. Visual acuity or lightning bolt for an arm with control.
    Sorry your journey ended before you wanted it but your dream ended way later than a lot of other players. Respect.
    Keep up with your vlog. You can absolutely be the next Neeme or Mariano. Although not rampage. Kind of like saying you want to be the next Johny manzeil.

I know a lot of really good baseball players that couldn't even play at the JC level and only 2% make the D1 level...meaning you were better than 98% of high school players. Yeah, the jump to pro (at any level) is a huge one but seriously, it is an accomplishment to even compete at the D1 level for however long.

    If you gave up on your baseball dream "after just one day" then you didn't deserve success. I wish you better luck with your poker career.
    Sidenote. You have that same sound I have. If I ever made a poker vlog it would probably sound very similar. I imagine once you've been doing it for awhile you loosen up and your vlog takes off. You might end up surprising yourself.

      It was mainly a figure of speech. Baseball has physical limitations that are apparent when you reach the division 1 level. I knew that would be my peak & I was perfectly content with that.
      As for poker, I do it mainly for fun & content. I have a full time career outside of poker (that I will reveal soon) that I enjoy so that’s the reason for the limitations. But I appreciate the feedback & encouraging words!

    This kind of sounds like you just being insecure and trying to cope. Why wouldn’t you be able to reach a level of fame like the vloggers you mentioned? It’s one thing to not care to be famous or the best poker player.
    But to say it’s not possible sounds like ur just facing feelings of inadequacy.
    I don’t think your measure of success or worth should be tied to how famous you are. But with that being said, you should believe in yourself and it isn’t some pipedream like being succesful in baseball. One is an impossible to change physical limitation, while being an entertaining person is obtainable.

    The Aces hand with the Q44 5J board... i think you're getting too good of a price, $105 to win $405. Almost 4:1. Villian is in position and with you giving up on turn, can have an array of hands he thinks hes going for value such as QJ, KQ, AQ with a heart. Perhaps he's putting you on AK with ace of hearts. At capitol, i rarely see 1/3rd pot value bets with essentially nutted hands.

    • @NorCal_Poker
      @NorCal_Poker  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Fair point, but if he puts me on AK, I don’t see why he would bet. Maybe QJ or AQ with ace of hearts but I think he has way more flushes given player types pre flop range. Definitely an exploitative fold on my part that I wouldn’t do against most players

      @@NorCal_Poker yea AK was just an example. More likely you have JJ, 1010, and QX in your range which he's trying to get called by. With your open of $15 preflop, and no potential to 3 bet, your range is still relatively wide, including all the suited broadway cards, a ton of A-x holdings, as well as probably 9s +. And knowing capitol players, even though a scare card gets there on the turn, a lot of them expect overpairs to keep betting to deny equity. My thinking is that your hand is completely under-repped, and as such, would be a mandatory call on river with the amazing odds given.

      @@charlesnewborn3760I like your thought process here. But the only hands I’m betting into 5 people on the flop is KQ, AQ or overpairs. And once he calls on the flop with players left to act, he either has Qx, 4x or flush draw so
      I’m not betting with 99-JJ. Plus he 3-bets AQ here to my $15 sizing & KQ isn’t betting turn & river given I should have him beat with the action. But I like your thought process, just breaking down my live thoughts

      @@NorCal_Poker oh yes I'm commenting after the fact from my phone... I forgot you bet into 5 people on the flop oop. true you never have 1010/JJ and you are capped with your CB with AK with a heart or 2 hearts, and QX specifically QK,AK. Nothing probably as weak as QJ but maybe. So that being said, the give up on the turn, he's either thin value betting, thick value, or he's semi bluffing. When you call, he probably thinks you have a Q with a heart at the tippy top of your range, and AK with a heart at the bottom of your range. When you check river on a brick, he's going for thin value with also QK, or QJ most likely. Probably not AQ. He possibly has some sort of K10/J10 hh, but I still favor a call here unless THIS specific player always bets 1/3rd pot with nutted hands for value. Some players do the same pattern betting and they always have it.
