A spokesperson for the International Monetary Fund criticised the tariffs announced by US president Joe Biden on imports from China. The IMF has said that trade restrictions will "fragment" the global economy, and that the US will be better served by maintaining open trade policies. The critical comments came days after Biden announced tariffs ranging from 100% for Chinese EVs and 50% for Chinese solar panels. In India, some exporters worry that cheap Chinese goods may flood the Indian market and affect the local industry. Even in January, Indian steel makers had lobbied the Indian government to hike tariffs on steel amid a rise in cheap Chinese imports. India isn't going to compete with China on this. India is trying to expand security with Iran and Afghanistan. So they just signed a deal with Iran for the Chabahar port. So India will export food, and goods to Iran and Afghanistan through this port.
America has threatened sactions against India, but it no big deal really. India has been sanction by the US before and so it will not really affect India that much.

They should. Indian producers are using too many Chinese parts and products and aggravating national security concerns by upsetting the trade balance and allowing China to control supply of key materials.
This will force lazy Indian producers to invest in domestic supply chains or source from less hostile nations. I am ready to pay slightly higher prices in the short term while the domestic infrastructure is being developed. China became a manufacturing powerhouse within 20 years of opening up by Deng. Why are the Kenya police going to Haiti, I think the US military is powerful as they say, Why doesn't the US military go and help Haiti instead of military bases in Africa.
