You can't backup saves like this, but you can delete save files on PS5 and disable cloud backup for a game. However, the issue at hand is that you shouldn't have to do this just to create a new character or a new game.
The issue with multiple saves is multiple pawns. If every player had a dozen+ pawns that were up for hire, it would overpopulate the system I think.
Its not my problem. Its a dev problem. The game cost 94$ cad. I can make as much character i want in my single playet game.
Fuck scummy tactics. Fuck capcom for doing this. They deserve all the bad review. Stop coping and have some self respect.
@@LeerySquid13 OK so find a workaround for that or find a way to implement that or to make it so it won’t crash. Don’t charge the player more money just to create a new character single player game.
@@LeerySquid13 For DD1, Whatever save you had loaded at the moment is the save's pawn that would be sent out to the rift. It was never a problem.

Its 2024 and we payed around 60 - 70 dollars and you're already telling me the game launched unoptimized, leading to people finding obscure methods to either bring features that should just exist to boot or kill NPCs just to run the game.
I love Dragon's Dogma, but damn.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game, support ESO and his content, but I think we deserve more polished games at launch or at the very least a beta/pre-launch test period with delays to provide a more adequate product to consumers, fans.
It just sets a bad precedent, though hopefully they are diligently working on fixing the scour of issues already popping up.

I mean, dragons dogma 1 only had 1 save, the fps is annoying but on ps5 at launch its fine.
Most of the problems in the game are either already being worked on or can be ignored ( like the microtransactions)
@@thestormthatisapproaching1872 yes, although I know it wasn't necessarily a feature in OG DD1, that doesn't mean it's exclusion was a welcome gesture for all. Personally, I thought it to be an arbitrary choice as I am left to assume most would want to do similarly then as ESO depicts in the video now. It should honestly in my opinion be a boot feature given all the feedback from the first game. As a fan, lack of innovation/unpolish/microtransactions appearently(!?) leaves me worried moving forward

@@Wizard_Pikachu I have zero issue with the save states in game. My issue is with the single character save file. I’m someone who enjoys making multiple characters to enjoy different play styles. If I’m not feeling a class within the first several hours of playing, I’d enjoy restarting to something different.

If you can’t find the file like me you can go to the top corner of the steam app and then click in to the settings and go to storage, from there you can click on the view files and find user data, from there you can follow the rest of the video. Very helpful video btw thank you.

@@70mavgrThe game is still phenomenal. Sure, some of these tactics are bad, and the performance isn't the best, but it doesn't mean the game is so awful it's not enjoyable. Some people prefer to be positive.
Capcom put out a statement on Steam about this. They said they're looking to add ability to restart the game.

TBH you may not want to. If denuvo thinks your new saves are different PCs (it's notoriously dumb as anti-cheat software goes) then you will be banned for doing this too many times.

I watched another video and it said that you can bork your character’s stats. I started as a fighter but I’m hating the play style, so will likely switch to Archer or something else. However, am I right in saying that my character stats will not be suited to anything other than a fighter? That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to reset my character… it was nothing to do with appearance.
Quick question. I dont have the folder with the save files in my userdata. I play the game over family sharing. Is that why I can't find it?
Can you use that creating new save file idea to create multiple pawns, then rent those pawns on your main toon? So you'd have 3 pawns, all that you created. Been wanting to do this for the sake of aesthetics.

Probably there is a set time of restock yes. In most games that is a couple of days but in some games its maybe a week. So in theory yes , but there is a small chance that it isnt.
According to other articles I've read, no it is only 2 per save.

@@deadworld953 Pretty sure that’s not true. Fighting Cowboy here on CZcams has already played NG++ and he said the merchant resets so you don’t “have” to buy the shop one at all just beat the game. I do think just two was a little stingy per game but hey it’s a rare item and I’ll just consider it reward for every NG+

Technically you can restart in ps5 too, all you got to do is backup your save data and then delete it. I'm sure you can do something similar with xbox too, but I'm not 100% on that one.
Honestly dude this is pretty insane, not being able to have multiple saves is crazy in its own regard but making it literally impossible for people to start a new game whenever they want is downright stupidity.

Is there a way to change your pawns name? I messed up and didn’t name them, now they are just “main pawn”. I’ve went to the barbie but I don’t see a way to rename.
After I disable the cloud save and make a new save file from just my PC, will re-enabling the cloud save function on steam afterwards delete my new save file? Is there a way to transfer the new save file to the cloud and replace the old one? Appreciate the video!
Going through this simply because I can't access the computer files as I'm on GeForce Now. I installed it on my deck just to clear the files and it still uses the cloud ones on GeForce now 😭
You can delete your character save on xbox as well (or should be able to at least) from going to manage game and add ons for Dragon's Dogma 2, then going to the saved data tab, selecting the profile you want to delete, and selecting the "delete everywhere" option, that will keep it from resyncing your save data each time you open it. Had to do the same work around in assassin's creed unity every time i want to start a new game 🤦♀️

when i deleted my save and tired to launch my game it just showed a black screen forever i tryed verifying i tried launching in full screen and windowed i tried enabling cloud save but that also does not work

Save files are not only useful for starting new game. You can also use them to create multiple saves during your play.
I tried this but the save file keeps popping back up, I disabled the cloud thing as well. Should i play steam in offline mode for it or something?
Edit : I got it to work, i had to instead delete the entire game folder for it to work.
When I created my Mage pawn I made her inclination straight forward. If I buy the kindhearted rift incense can I put that on my main pawn the Mage and replace straight forward?

Clear instructions, though I still not buying the game until I see Capcom roll out fixes or unless game was gifted. I am a QA on some indie games and capcom should really let me get my hands on their games before they are released to do quality checks. I don't understand how they were able to get away with releasing a game where you cannot select "new game" or whatever to make a new character or to start over when you don't have one. Worse, only 1 character can be made, yet they released a free character creator before launch that let you create 5 characters and 5 main pawn options. They have the tech right there to give us 5 character slots or 5 saves. A big shame.... but good to see a helpful DD2 video. Also, they need to just strip out Denuvo which will probably add enough fps for everyone while waiting on CPU patch.

It seems Dragons Dogma and the character creator are synced to the same cloud file..
I made my pawn and wanted to change its name, when i delete save file to start over character creation doesnt let me pull my pre made character from the creator game.
So now im at either keep the pawn with the dumb name or restart all over and have to remake the arisen as well as the pawn :(
Uhh is there only 2 of it cause I change my arisen and pawn appearance and I mess up on my arisen and want to change it again but it item for changing appearance sold out.
Hate to be bad news bears here but everyone is agreeing he doesn't restock after the 2. Which ducks cause I'm in the same boat as you. No idea why there's a cap on editing appearances. I'm even fine with RC cost
You can delete you progress on Xbox and I'm assuming on PS5 as well by going to the home screen for either console, pressing the menu button over the game and selecting manage game and add-ons, then press the menu button over saved data and delete all data. This will allow you to restart your game and create a new character, you do not need to finish the game in order to do this.
But will you lose your preorder bonus or included RCs??
Steam reviews were composed of people questioning how a 70$ game doesn't have a "new game" button and had to manually delete the files or had to pay 2$ to edit your character, the bitter technical aspect of release, and the game in itself is great.

So I accidentally killed an npc in the city so other npcs attacked me and I decided to kill them all. After that it turns out some really important npcs you need for the completion of main quests attack you as well. Killed that npc as well. So now I'm stuck. Can't load previous save. Can't restart as well. Any suggestions?

Well, the devs did say your choices matter and can seriously influence your game state. So sounds like you need to delete your game data and restart the game again. This time don't "accidentally" kill an NPC.
This worked for me. but when i restarted my PC it switched back to my old character and i lost the save file for my new character entirely. played 7 hours. then lost it all on PC restart. and yes cloud save was turned off...
Alright but once you have deleted it how do you re enable steam cloud without it overwriting your new save file?
It will ask if you want to use local or cloud save files. You have to choose local
Can I restart a NG+ save? I forgot to give my pawn a name and it’s so annoying my it’s making me not want to play.
I noticed the NPC you showcased for buying appearence items only has 2 in its inventory. How would we get unlimited uses out of him?
Maybe once you buy one or all of them, the item will be available to buy again after some in-game time. It usually works like that in games like this one. Not sure tho.

Doesn't this mess with Denuvo's anti-tamper and count as an activation? Pretty sure you only get 5 and then you brick your account.
On the PlayStation five, if you were that down bad to start a new character, just delete your saved data through the storage system

The fact that it is a work around instead of a basic free feature leaves a very putrid taste in my mouth
A workaround that if you do it multiple times may get you banned (from your single player game) by denuvo. The "5 PC limit" is clearly stated on the store page. Use this workaround at your own risk. I personally only did it once so far once myself, but I also stopped playing once I realized the extent of the problem. I don't trust that denuvo can tell the difference between entirely new save data and a new PC, as people are saying that it CANNOT tell the difference. This going well beyond a few annoying microtransactions.

I never made it past the loading screen last night thank goodness (started falling asleep while waiting for it to load) and just refunded it on steam. I'm not going to freak out over the microtransactions that are completely QOL optional things, but the one save file ever thing and reported performance issues had me nervous, so I'll just wait until they fix stuff and there is a sale. I am somehow still limping along a custom build from 10 years ago that's only upgraded to a 980ti and is somehow still able to play modern games on mid graphics settings, so it really doesn't sound like I would have enjoyed the performance issues on DD2 at this time. Maybe I'll hold off until I upgrade to a new high performance rig.
For the PS friends. I went into my PS cloud data and deleted my saves, i also deleted the game and reinstalled it right after and was able to remake a new character, hopefully it helps you all
Why would you have to delete the game when you can just delete your game save data in PS5? Thankfully I don't have PS+ so don't have to worry about cloud sync.

There is no way to change names after creation, unfortunately.

It also affects your movement speed and stamina regeneration.

You can backup and create a new save on PS5 if you have an extra memory stick lying around. Note, you can only have one save per USB stick, which is incredibly stupid, but whatever. Yeah, this was pointless on console too, it didn't prevent whatever they were intending it to.
(Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization has a one save limit as well. I transferred my PS4 save to my PS5 and can easily overwrite my existing save, so I keep my PS4 save as my backup "safety save" in case I screw something like lose an NPC I want to keep alive. So yes, this does actually work.)
- NOTE: I am mentioning this because this person who has 2.24 million subs clearly didn't test this on console, otherwise it would've been obvious. I don't see how this game is a unique snowflake in that it has some kind of weird specific thing that wouldn't make this possible (unless it's always-online, which it ain't, or it has some other kind of safety net, which it don't).

Ive tried to delete my actual game data and denuvo blocked my acces to the game so whatever you do do not delete the data in your pc
