"In exceptions such as There Will Be Blood or The Master". My insides fill with joy to know that PTA is even in his mind, one of the very few modern day cinematic geniuses.
Every actor, or every person for that matter, you hear that works with Scorsese says that he is fantastic student and teacher of film and this just demonstrates that. He is a fantastic teacher. It is part of the reason he's been so successful at making movies. He's studied all of its ins and outs. Not only that, but his passion is so apparent that his contributions to film could never be anything short of incredible and it probably makes it so much fun to work with him. One of the greatest to ever do it! Wish I had the chance to work for him. That would be a dream!
Robert Donat was such a great actor, so expressive. Laurence Olivier is so wooden in anything he does compare to him. We were deprive of an amazing actor.
Fantastic presentation! So amazing that scene from “The Magic Box”, I need to see that film. Also, I agree wholeheartedly with Scorsese on the importance of preservation.
my heart will shatter into a million pieces the day he will no longer be with us. i couldnt ever hope to put into words what his movies and his legacy has meant to me as an aspiring filmmaker. love you, Marty!
I just realized the power of cinema by watching a movie Au hasard Baltazar(french 1966).dir-robert bresson. Then onwards I have surrendered to power of cinema..
Very interesting. Does anyone know what Scorsese thinks about Decasia or the Fisher-Price Pixelvision camera where degredation of the image is implicit to the aesthetic?
He's not a Professor . He's , get this, a former moderate Republican Congressman from Iowa, who specialized in banking and agricultural policy, and who was respected by almost all his colleagues Obama made him NEH Director, and-I believe- Trump hasn't bothered to remove him. Incidenatally, he did not say *Man Street*, He said *Mean Streets*
Any one stupid enough to deny that film is an art should pay careful attention to this lecture. If they still cling to their position after watching it, they are fools, indeed.
Mr. Scorsese is a national, cultural treasure - Thats for sure give MCU their dues dont be an old mad man because they are making better movies than you and making a mad amounts of money. Your still using robert dinero, al, do you think the future cars about gangster movies or old actors? Sorry we all make cinema sorry your version of cinema is from the old school.
Hes and old man with great films hating on the new with better films. Im sorry we move forward with exceptional visual innovation. Sorry Martin hasn't got an award in for ever hes just mad he has been destroyed by MCU!

Mr. Scorsese is a national, cultural treasure. We are beyond lucky to have him still active.
"In exceptions such as There Will Be Blood or The Master". My insides fill with joy to know that PTA is even in his mind, one of the very few modern day cinematic geniuses.

He often says good things about PTA
What's PTA?

Whenever I need to remind myself of why I'm committed to making movies, I look at that opening clip from _The Magic Box._

Apart from being a great filmmaker, he is also an amazing lecturer.
That opening clip from the Magic Box almost made me cry. Beautiful.
Robert Donat was such a great actor, so expressive. Laurence Olivier is so wooden in anything he does compare to him. We were deprive of an amazing actor.
thanks for sharing The Master's thoughtful lecture, delighted to see this one.
Fantastic presentation! So amazing that scene from “The Magic Box”, I need to see that film. Also, I agree wholeheartedly with Scorsese on the importance of preservation.
Brilliant speaker, nothing didactic about it, almost conversational, but he doesn't waste a word. Marty, direct my movie!
Thanks, Professor Scorsese...

What an extraordinary insight on the history and future of cinema.
Release code DANIELLA ALHAMDULILAH WA SALATU WA SALAM 3ALA RASUL ALLAH SAIDUNA MOHAMMED SALA ALLAH 3ALAYHI WA SALAM...
Out of the top filmmakers alive today; Scorsese beats them all.
i agree by far
+MrHEC381991 I think Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg belong in that group too.
WideTubeVision4 Speaking of Clint I've only just saw American Sniper for the first time the other night but yeah, another top director.
Scorsese definitely on the top, James Cameron not too far behind with his innovative storytelling techniques
The movie Martin Scorsese referred to ( 1:05) but not revealing the title was The Age Of Innocence (1993).
I SAY THANK YOU.
my film lit teacher assigned us to annotate this speech
Same lmao
This. Is. Incredible.
how does this only have 15k views?
Because he hates anyone better than him. This is old shit grow a modern brain. Let this go to the Archive!
Excellent. Thanks for sharing it.

Martin should sit on Kent's lap and they could do a ventriloquist act together.
Brilliant!
Love this
The conversation at the end was a little odd. And at the end the guy said "thanks Meredith".
He said "Thank's Marty", as in Marty Scorsese :D
Lawrence Olivier? How did Michael Fassbender make it into a movie from 1950?
That was Robert Donat. A great British actor. And Lawrence Olivier as the policeman.
Mr. Scorsese could make a movie on paint drying...and he'd get an Oscar....and I'd pay money to watch it...
Very interesting. Does anyone know what Scorsese thinks about Decasia or the Fisher-Price Pixelvision camera where degredation of the image is implicit to the aesthetic?
Did that professor actually say "Mean Street"?
What a noob

At 1:04:9 martin takes someone's name who has watched John Ford's movie 47 times. Can anyone tell me his name? I can't make out what he said. Thanks
+Thomas Andersen thanks man
+BASANT RATHORE Orsen Wells watched the movie 'Stagecoach' 47 times before he made CK.

If I was Scorsese, I think I'd have lost it by now. "How the hell difficult is it to pronounce "sez he"? It's NOT "sAz E," Dagnabit!!!
beutiful!
I say put it in the archive let the modern take hold!
Great interviewee awful interviewer.
