    A few years ago I managed to talk to Kathy (who is the person who runs the official website of the band) I asked her about how it was possible that perhaps the best tour in the history of the band has so little video material, She told me He said that in those years it was very expensive to make videos and that he would have to be thankful that the documentary Sing blue silver and the show As the light go down existed. But she didn't fully answer my question since to make a documentary or a show absolutely everything is filmed and then edited. I believe that the band has in its archive everything that was left out of the final edition of that tour as well as images of several other shows. In 2005 I saw the band live in Madrid and I could see that the show was filmed entirely from 3 cameras and THAT VIDEO IS NOT AVAILABLE the band will have in their archive. I don't understand why Duran Duran isn't slowly releasing their unpublished shows for sale like other bands currently do. a pity.

      @@alirashid402 keep in mind that in 1984 they didn’t have in ear monitors like they do now, so they couldn’t hear anything that they were playing or singing, because of the sheer amount of noise and screaming from the audience!

    • @stefanolugo9215
      @stefanolugo9215 Před 2 měsíci

      @@alirashid402Of course it does sound different! It's not like artists record live shows on a cassette tape and put it out as it is! :) They record it on different tracks and mix it in the studio. A mix of a song made during a concert is totally different from a mix made for a live album that will be played on hi Fi systems, not in a stadium or arena. Also, if you listen to the drums on arena (album) and arena vhs you'll notice they sound totally different. A mix for the record , a different mix for the vhs , supposed to play on tv and not on hi-fi systems . Also you might notice that on the Arena (album) there is barely trace of Raphael De Jesus and his percussions, while on As the lights go down (album) they're more prominent. So yeah, of course it doesn't sound like the concert, as goes for every single one live recording ever made in the history of humankind. Otherwise they would be called bootleg and not live album. Sorry for the long post.

    Man, as a big heterasexual fan at the Dallas Tx show, it was like this: screaming, hardly hear the music, I was in awe I can't believe I was watching the supergroup Duran Duran at their best conquering the world! Our Beatles of the 80s passed on from led zeppelin of the 70s. I hate it they didn't stay together a complete10 yrs and break up as every successful band does. They were and is still my all time favorite band next to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles😁✌☕

    • @liquidbraino
      @liquidbraino Před 10 měsíci

      "Post production" is Movie terminology. In the music industry they "fix it in the mix" but of course they didn't have auto tune back then - you just back up the tape and do it again until you nail it and if necessary they can hide stuff in the mix by bringing levels up and down on different channels. Like the bass line for RIO, there's a spot on the album where John screws up a tiny bit but you can only hear it if you're listening to the isolated bass line for that song (which I highly recommend if you haven't heard it). You don't hear the screw up on the album at all and BTW - I'm still amazed that John could play any of that complex and difficult bass line at the age of nineteen (I think that's how old he was when he wrote it). It blows my mind even more that he goes in front of live audiences and plays that bass line without a pick. My fingers would probably bleed if I tried to play it.

    • @chrisluckhardt
      @chrisluckhardt Před 10 měsíci

      @@liquidbraino "Post production" is also an audio term and I know that because I'm an audio engineer. As for John, he was and still is one of the most underrated bass players in pop/rock history. Music sounds so rigid now because everything is fixed in the mix. The human quotient is missing. (e.g., natural errors, imprecise precision)

      That's right. Shot on a Canon 1014 xls with the Cannon attachable telescopic microphone on top and using Kodak Ektachrome Super-8 160 ASA color film.

      @@arricammarques1955 - I completely agree, but I also didn't want to shoot this on 18 fps to get the extra time and lose more quality, what little I had of it, so I opted for shorter time.

    This is the year they really blew up and became a teeny bopper band and totally turned me off to them until the album Astronaut years later when they were a reunion band. Just listen to all the screaming girls. Total turn off for teenage boys.
