- Welcome back to Tokyo's hipster town of Shimokitazawa!
After visiting this super trendy area of Tokyo - known for thrift stores and great cafes - in season two of #hijessicaanneinjapan, I 100% couldn't resist coming back again.
But this time, I brought Sammie (IG: @twinbuns) and Jemma (IG: @jemma_mae_) along with me for an amazing day out vintage shopping, arcade hopping and singing our little lungs out at karaoke!
And as much as I'm a tried and true fan of solo travelling, there are just some activities in Japan that are much more fun with friends - and this day was a LOT of fun!

I've been following your Japan vlogs since your older trips a couple years ago and I'm obsessed with all of them!! I'm curious to know how you learned Japanese and if you're fluent?? I'm trying to improve my Japanese before I travel there and was just wondering about your experience :)
Shelby Shikashio thank you so much! I studied Japanese as a second language all through high school and for a semester at uni. I’m not 100% fluent, but can definitely get by with what I have for travelling ☺️ if you can speak some Japanese while you’re there, a little really does go a long way, and it’s definitely not required in the larger cities. Have an amazing time on your trip! 😁

Thank you so much! It's such a fun and hip neighbourhood. I get my nails done at the Max Kelly salon in Ebisu every time I go to Tokyo, they always do a stellar job!

Definitely, a lot of them only sell vintage designer!! It's currently summer in Japan :)

Sammy 042 that’s so exciting! I like doing Airbnb experiences over tours as the groups are smaller and they’re much more local 😁 have a great time on your trip, hope you get to see snow!!
Have you flown out of Haneda Airport before? If so, do they check your tax free goods when you hand over your receipts?
I've only ever flown through Narita, and have never had to present my tax free goods, but I'd definitely rather be safe than sorry and prepare for it to happen just in case :)
