G&L L2000BASS Overhaul Restoration

- We overhauled the G&L L2000BASS, replaced the pots, and replaced all wiring.
I was excited to get a request for a bass that I haven't done in a while.
Rusty, powdery pegs, screws that won't let me turn. It's the best.
The pot was sticking and not turning, so I suggested replacing it.
I couldn't get a 1MΩ C-curve pot, so I substituted a B-curve.
I've never seen a 1MΩ C-curve potentiometer except for the L2000...
What am I going to do?
Replacing the wiring is my limit right now... I can't make the L2000 wiring any more beautiful than it already is...
I can't find any more beautiful wiring in my mind, so there's nothing I can do.
I used BELDEN "8503" as the wiring material.
I'm glad that the circuit didn't fail.
Well, I prefer the sound of passive, but I don't dislike the active sound of active.
This is the first time I've used a vertically split neck structure that is not made of pasted maple.
This is the way to do it, isn't it?

For masking tape, 3M is good. For high frets on guitars, 6mm is recommended.

Dremel 4000 rotor. Great torque, but hot! If you can, get a 4000 because it can do a lot of things.

I heard there is a new one called 4300. If you can use the base plate of a StuMac, this might work too.

Great work. I restored my L1505 and I found that reverse-log potentiometer on G&L website. Very rare (MM Stingray use one, too).

I recommend you using steel wool for cleaning the top of the screws. It will remove and polish them nicely wiping them when you have the screw mounted at the drill as you did with the brush and dremel. Lovely job I enjoy your videos a ton
Steel wool does not remove rust from the screw grooves, so I use a wire brush.

Nice job! Don’t know that I’d have patience! The thing I’m struggling with is putting all the tuner parts back into place. I m having a lot of play up & down on the actual string post. I wish I could attach a pic. I took them apart but can’t figure the parts align! I hv the exact tuners that you’re working on, in your video

G&L 確かジョージ何とかさんとレオフェンダーが設立したギターメーカーでしたよね。
発売当初(1980年前後かな…)にASATシリーズのテレキャスを8本馴染みのギター屋さんで弾きました。
どれも弾きやすく、パリッととしたテレキャスの音とダイナミックレンジが広く高印象でした。
迷った挙句に1972年製造のフェンダー テレキャスを購入しましたが(ネームバリューに負けました…)
このベースも綺麗な杢目ですね。

PUの固定ネジを抜くのも大変そうでしたね。

At 9:49 in the video, you’re buffing a part from one of the tuners. That part is one that I cannot figure out how to assemble into the tuning gear. At the end of the video you show the tuners all put back together. Is there anyway that you (or anyone) show how the tuners are assembled?

質問なのですが、カメラと編集ソフトは何を使ってらっしゃるのですか、？
カメラはオリンパスのOMD-EM5M2を使っています。
M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm F2.8 PROが使いたくて当時、GH4と迷ったのですが、みんなGH4使ってるからEM5にしよ！と思いオリンパスにしました。
後悔してます。（少し）GH4の方が多分いろんな使い方ができるから今はパナソニックにしとけばよかった。と思ってます。このレンズは最高です。em5も写真撮るにはいいと思います。
そろそろ時代はフルサイズみたいなので、fpか、α7sⅲ・・・ほしい。

地道に磨いてる光景は大変そうに見えるけど、私は磨けば磨くほど美しくなっていく行程が大好きなのでやっていて苦労は無いです。アンディさんはどうなのかな？
どの程度きれいになるかなーと思いながら心を無にしながらでも集中して作業できるようにシてる感じですかね。

At timestamp 5:33 I see the disassembly of the pickups. Mine has some oxidation and like some tips on cleaning them up
@@WankanTankan Rust was removed with a needle and a very fine brass wire brush.
同様にリューターとピカールを用いてペグを磨くと綺麗にはなるのですが磨き傷が残ってしまいます...
使われているバフは特殊なものなのでしょうか？
こんにちは。
例えばですが、ネックプレートや、TOMのエンドピースなどはリューターなどは使わず、手で磨いています。
メッキの面積が広い部分は必ず手磨きでないとバフ目が残ってしまうので、注意してください。
逆にペグや、ネジなんかはバフ目はほとんど残らないのでバフで磨いています。
使っているバフは市販品を改造して作ったもの（フレットなどの大きいものを磨くとき）このバフは非常に柔らかく、バフ目が残りません。
ペグに傷が残るとのことですが、おそらくですが、バフの質と、磨く力加減だと思います。
アマゾンなどでいっぱい安く売っているのもは品質の悪いバフだったりするので私は使いません。
ですが、広い面積のものは手で磨くと意識されるといいと思います。
コンパウンドもピカールでも良いのですが、マザーなどの軽い力で研磨できる物もおすすめです。
