- In this video, I talk about my 2011 E63 AMG W212 sedan, which I recently bought. It's one of the best sounding AMGs and it has the legendary M156 V8 engine. I'm excited to dial this car in and make a few videos on it. (4K HDR) Shot on the new Panasonic S5 with Sigma Art 24-70 2.8.

These pre-facelift W212 AMGs looks so right. Agressive yet classy. I even prefer the interiors on this era of Mercs to the modern stuff they're producing now. Congratulations on your purchase, the car looks amazing. Look forward to lots of videos on it.
I mean it is just my personal preference, but I don't like how the headlights look in the pre-facelift ones. The post facelift's headlights looks much better. To be subjectively
Id love the tail lights and interior from the the facelift, and the front end of the pre facelift. with the 6.2 in the 507 edition trim from the W204
Tastes differs so much. While I find these models really ugly, w211 models are really looking good to me.

I agree with you, the pre-face w212 looks good ,like the guy in the comment section said the facelift version doesn't fit with the sharp and edgy look of the car

Looks like a car from 1920. But its a nice car, would drive it for sure.
Love this. I have owned my 2010 E63 for 7.5 years now. Almost at 200k miles. Wildly underrated cars.

The design really aged well and has everything you'd want from a car features wise.
This is the best looking 4 door car ever in history by far, and the best engine ever in history. I would just put the facelift tail lights and its perfection

Congrats, I have a black 2011 E63. I think the W212 looks better in lighter colors. Just a tip you might already know. Never rev it up high or drive it hard until the oil gets up to optimum temperature. When you start it up go to AMG menu where it shows you coolant and oil temps. You will see the oil temp flashing until it reaches around 175 F. I'm in the US. Then you can rev the engine high and drive it hard. I believe if you do this you never have to worry about the camshaft adjusters going bad. Mine now has 139k miles on it and still going strong. I drive it everyday and I drive it hard
I just recently picked up a 2011 in white, coming from Lexus I know nothing about these cars in terms of up keep. What should I be doing to keep it strong?
@@ryanventimiglio953 the most important thing is the oil really. Personally I change it myself every 5k miles. I use liqui moly 5W 40. These engines can consume oil. I check the oil level about every week just to make sure. If it needs a little bit I add some and make sure to never over fill. And as I said never rev it high or drive it hard until the oil is warm. Around 175F. Also you NEED to drive it hard. These engines if not pushed and not driven hard some oil can get into the intake manifold through the PCV valve. Driving it hard prevents that from happening. Also since these are high and FAST revving engines. It's recommended to change spark plugs every 30 to 50k miles. Air intake filters as well.

Congrats on finding your perfect spec! I have a ‘15 E63S myself and prefer that for a variety of reasons but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. No other vehicle blends so many characteristics quite like an E Class AMG.

@@shawndon7374 Yeah, That I agree with too! Those pre facelift model’s definitely command the style after all these years. I just also of find the post facelifts to not be shabby either.
@@shawndon7374 They are the second or top models..... Final facelift before softer curves rather than aggressiveness. 2014-2016 e63 AMG's are mental son !
Congrats! Been waiting on this video as I have a twin spec 2010 myself. Never knew about the production numbers. These will definitely become classics one day with the m156. Maybe sooner than we think!

I have owned my UK W212 6.3 M156 coming up 4.5 years. I have the w211 e55k for 2.5 years before this. In a straight line duel there isn't much in it. Apart from the sound ofcourse the 6.3 sounds more brutal than that of the sc 5.5 lump. Both sound insane but the 156 is much better it's fact! On the twisties the w212 leaves the big barge w211 for dead trust me the w212 is fantastic in the corners. It has an identical slalom skid pan performance or the E60 M5 with more power and torque. The luxury the car gives in general day to day driving is incredible. And then if you want that mad party to spring to life, then this car with this engine is just awesome. The exhaust note this car produces is just pure crazy. As you say it's in the top 5 if not top 3 sounding AMG cars. In w212 armour the 6.3 sounds much different to the C63 and sl 63 and the w211 63. Must be to do with the overall exhaust set up of the w212. As you say the pre facelift looks so much more aggressive than the facelift. Also the 5.5 tt maybe faster. But it doesn't hold a candle to the sound the 6.3 makes. Doesn't come close. The m113k sounds better than the 5.5 tt. Anyway congratulations like I have already said. Congrats my friend. The days of finding and buying these on Craigslist and other used car hubs is gone, good luck finding a well preserved good car that has been cared for and not abused on the west coast. I'm hanging on to my 2010 until I die...

In summer of 2021, when I was looking for a new car, I almost pulled the trigger on a clean 2011 E63 w/ 50k miles (non-PP). Got the PPI done and everything.
Ultimately decided it wouldn’t be the best to daily that beast so I picked up my amazing 1-owner, mint, 36k mile M278 E550 2014. I still think about that car though! Super excited for the new videos you’ll be releasing! Enjoy
Be interesting to see your W212/211 comparison too. I've owned a 2013 W212 E63 with the 157 - and frankly I love my W211 E55 as a drivers car much more than the 212. BUT the 212 is a step ahead in terms of technology & premium interior feel. (mine was facelift)

I have an updated head bolt, 23000 KM (14,400 miles), 2011 E63 AMG, W212 sedan with the P30 AMG Performance Package with the interior and exterior High Gloss Carbon fibre packages in Diamond White. It is one of the best sounding vehicles I own !

For me personally I prefer the sound of M157 engine. It feels more deep and more like the roar of a tiger. And also this turbo whistle in the end of the revving is gorgeous. M156 also sounds magnificent.

I was hoping you'd eventually do a video on the W212 E63, I bought one 3 years ago and don't think I'll ever get rid of it
I'll be honest I think it reminds me of the W210 a bit when it comes to looks, of course the headlights are not rounded but the rear lights are of similar shape and just this classic look is what makes it relatively sleeper-like even though it's a modern car. But the M156 sound my gosh it's amazing, probably top 5 best sounding engines of all time, certainly the best sound for a 'normal' car.
