    That looked like fun and you seemed to enjoyed yourself as well mate. Soon I am hoping to be preserving one of the LG02 reg Dennis Trident Alexander ALX400 buses as a lot of them have recently been withdrawn from the London United's fleet. I have my eye on TA238 (LG02FBC) which has the ZF Ecomat 5 speed gearbox.
    Keep up the great videos mate.

    Can't beat a good Volvo B7TL - they handle the 12/12B route quite well - have one most days to work in Bude! Nice job on the parking by the way!

    Well Done. I'm a driver in the North East and we have these Ex London B7's. very nice to drive. Can't wait for more shunting videos.

      Couldn't agree more, the steering is really nice and solid yet light enough to turn with one finger. More shunting videos on the way of course!

      TheIrish RoadSurfer Yeah i work at Go North East and we have the V---LGC version of these. Steering is exactly the same as described.

      You work up there? Nice one! I believe you guys are in the middle of receiving some Optare Solo's from us or is that another part of Go North East?

      @S23TOV Před 7 lety +1

      TheIrish RoadSurfer Yeah we are getting Optare Solos from you. Not sure where they will be based but already got a couple from you lot. Feel free to add me on Facebook :-)

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety

      Yeah they're quite alright those little things, the dark blueish one we painted has got some poke to it, if you're getting the longer ones from us too they have the 5.9L Cummins ISB in them and they are lethal hahahaa, they go like stink!

  • @MercedesCitarobusvideos
    @MercedesCitarobusvideos Před 6 lety +2

    It dosen't look silly with the hazards on. At the depot where i work we always use the hazard blinkers when reversing and driving around the depot, makes it a little easier for others to see us, so an accident wouldn't happen.
    :-) great driving

    Looks fun does this. I've just passed my test and I'm hoping to get on the Citylink fleet in Glasgow serving the West Coast and Skye. I've got to lose some weight first though. I'm being told there is an 18 stone weight limit for some companies now as a driver. Have you passed your PCV licence? If you enjoy the buses you should get out of the depot and on the open road. I'm subscribed and looking forward to more bus action!
    Best regards

      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks dude! I won't lie to you, it is like a dream come true, it may only be 10mph shunting but it's a start to an epic journey living through a life of transport! I'd definitely go for it mate it's well worth it, you'll be working for an ever expanding industry that pays well and it never gets boring like most jobs that make you sit there in an office block from 9-5 every day, it's a lovely change of scenery every single day and you never know what your day is going to be like so it stays interesting, definitely go for it mate :-)

  • @londonbusexplorer
    @londonbusexplorer Před 7 lety +5

    Very nice, the closest I have ever got to that was starting up a Versa, a Citaro, an Enviro 400 and an Esteem in Epsom, all caught on video, let me know if you want it linked. I'd love to drive though someday.

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      Best way to get driving without the Cat D license is to become a bus shunter, gain experience and also gain company loyalty then work up to being a bus driver more easily. Some companies like the one I work for pay for your Cat D licence so if you can, get yourself a job in a bus depot! :-)

    • @londonbusexplorer
      @londonbusexplorer Před 7 lety +1

      Well in London, we don't have many companies that are nice around here, although Metrobus sound nice, they are 20 miles away from my base. I went to Epsom in Surrey to start up the four buses, and revved them of course. Who doesn't want to hear a bus overrev?

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      Ahh I see, there's a lot of competition in London unfortuantely but you'll never know until you try! Plus you'll never over rev a bus if its at a standstill, you'll bring it to the rev limiter and that's it, still sounds epic though!

    • @londonbusexplorer
      @londonbusexplorer Před 7 lety +2

      The only nice company i know is actually Plymout Citybus, but I've only been to their yard once and I only visit for one week in August.

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      Couldn't agree more, tomorrow is my 3rd Month working there and from day one it has been nothing but amazing. Don't get me wrong it is incredibly hard work being a cleaner/shunter as you have a lot of physical work to do and when you're shunting you must be vigilant at all times as you are after-all driving vehicles that can weigh up to 18 tonnes! The money is amazing and the job is too, if you ever get an opportunity to work in transport, don't pass it up, it's so worth it :-)

He's got loads of D7C thrashage! :P Or you can watch my "VOLVO B7TL PURE POWER" video but I personally recommend BusThrash's videos, take a look at this one, it's the same type of bus from the same year and has the same Euro emissions as the one in my video czcams.com/video/l5mqR51725o/video.html

    What do i need to be a bus driver so i can choose for gcse plz thank colby

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +3

      To be a bus driver all you need is the basics such as English, Maths, Geography, Science and maybe business. Get yourself a job first, just to gain some experience working with customers (bus companies LOVE people with customer service skills). Then you have two options:
      1.) Get any job you want and save up for your Category D licence, get the licence then apply directly into a bus company as a driver.
      OR
      2.) Get any job you want and gain a lot of customer service skills, then apply for a job as a cleaner in your local bus depot and work there for a good while, gain your loyalty with the company and also gain driving experience when you're shunting buses around the depot. After mastering the job and shunting and you've built up your reputation with the company, apply to one of the driving positions and before you know it you're driving buses!
      *****DON'T FORGET***** to become a bus driver you MUST get your car driving licence, this applies for option 1 AND 2. When I applied for a job as a cleaner/shunter I needed my drivers licence in order to shunt buses, if you don't have a car licence then you'll only be cleaning buses but don't worry you can always save up for driving lessons to get your car licence and THEN start shunting. Luckily for me I've had my car licence for nearly 3 years now so it's all good!
      The good thing about wanting to be a bus driver is that it's one of the easiest jobs to get into compared to the likes of wanting to be a pilot or an engineer or whatever that needs a diploma or degree to get in to, all you need to be a bus driver is your GCSE's maybe go to college and get a job at the same time, then apply to your local bus depot!
      Hope this helps :-)

    Which body of B7 is this? Dashboard looks very Plaxton President shaped.

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      It is indeed a Plaxton President.

    • @lukeyg6042
      @lukeyg6042 Před 7 lety +1

      TheIrish RoadSurfer I guessed that. But the majority of PCB's B7TLs are Plaxton Presidents. The Mylleniums are nice but I've always liked Plaxtons.

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety +1

      Couldn't agree more, The Myllenniums tend to leak in wet conditions whereas the Plaxton bodies tend to rattle a lot but are solidly sealed from the outside environment.

    • @lukeyg6042
      @lukeyg6042 Před 7 lety +2

      TheIrish RoadSurfer I don't really like a lot of East Lancs anyways. Plaxton have always been known for making very good looking buses like the President, Pointer, Paramount, Excalibur. etc. But if Plymouth City Bus had a few B7TLs as ALX400s or Geminis with a 4 speed Voith, that would be good. At least the 4 speed Voiths don't make B7TLs as slow as fuck.

    • @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer
      @ThePlymouthRoadSurfer  Před 7 lety

      Lukey G Yeah mate the 4 speed Voith B7's pull away quicker due to their shorter gear ratios, ya can't beat a ZF B7 though ;-) In my opinion the ALX 400 is by far the best looking, least rattling, best watertight bus body i've ever come across, really nice bus body them.
