NICE IDEA for small light duty hook-can't push off with it, of course. I would suggest the following: 1)sanding back the factory lacquer finish and recoat (2-3 coat minimum) with good varnish or oilbased paint. 2) add 2 STAINLESS STEEL hose clamps-TIGHT in top two inches where hook attaches-cover with two layers of electrical tape, so pole doesn't split-which it WILL do otherwise. 3) Using friction tape, or something grippy, cover the bottom 10-12 inches with the material to improve grip...Cheers
this cheap one has actually held up real well. been submerged in the salt a few times and no real signs of wear after a year.
I went on my friends boat last year. It was the first time for all of us crabbing on a boat. I brought garden tool called a potato fork. It did the job lol
