- Ever wonder what it's like to live at sea? It's a lot different living on a sailboat in the open ocean than living on land! Sailing the Bahamas, we spent 2 days way out at sea with no land in sight. There are... challenges.

The TRUTH About Living on a Sailboat in the Open Ocean
Despite what you say, if I could do it all over again I would definitely want to go sailing🎉
Oh, I still do want to go sailing!
I had a boat for 45 years and will never have another one I'm done thank God 🙏🏽
I still don’t have one! I was just crew on this one. I really want one now though. Should I get one?
@@LyfeUntetheredTwo happiest days in life:
1 when you buy a boat
2 when you sell the boat!
@@LyfeUntetheredDepends. If you can work on it yourself and have a cheap or free mooring and love boats then maybe... otherwise you will need plenty of money 😂
@@LyfeUntethereda lot of the boat regret I hear comes from people who didn't get sailboats lol
Best decision I've ever made. Cruising life is so much fun and every day is different. Personally though, when shit hits the fan, that's when it gets really exciting and fun! Trying to make it around Cape Horn next year.
Dang! Awesome! ❤️
Cape Horn on a sailboat? 😮 good luck an safe travels!
I was a commercial fisherman / lobstermen in Maine for 61 years I retired at 67 and bought a 50ft sailboat been sailing now for 4 years and 14 k miles and still love anything nature wants to throw at me .today im in maine and we're having a hurricane going through a lot of wind 60 or 70 mph with one hell of a lot of rain we're up in a little cove out of most of the weather and I'm still loving it
Awesome! I love the ocean!
Huge fan of the movie Captain Ron growing up - this totally reminds me of that.
The people who can face all of this and find all the joys that it brings get my respect.
And they'll probably tell you that they would trade it for nothing.
First responsibility of the skipper...the safety of the crew & vessel...which includes making sure the vessel is SEAWORTHY & getting a WEATHER report.
You know accidents happen right
@@Jayson971 To you ...maybe. Having real world experience informs one of to be prepared...which includes regular maintenance.
@@petertaylor8922 will you know having real world experience and all accidents still happen
No one can be in control 100% of the time....my comment was to be prepared for the 95% of the things might happen. Example: MOB requires practice of retrieval on a regular basis...in all weather & sea conditions. (By the way I have been a keel boat instructor for over 14 years.)@@Jayson971
It was great!
We love our boat, this one weve had for 6years, before that we had an old chugger half the size for 2 years, before that a half cab, weve built 2 moorings and its cheap $53/yr, but atm we are packing up the farm with too many toys so its taking a while. We know how easy it is to waste water, keep fridges cold and watching the batteries and bilges daily, but thats boating and its the best, unfortunately not for everyone though x
All true but still SOOOO freakin’ worth it!
Yes. Yes it is!! We want a boat!
“This guys coming to rescue us here’s why” Point’s the camera at his wife sailing the ship 🤣😂🤣
ROFLAO
… no fridge??? Sorry but that’s rediculous we live aboard for over a decade and certainly have a fridge a freezer heating airco etc etc.. is sailing not exercising poverty..
Not my boat. i was just crew. This one needs some love.
My dad had two big boats I grew up on those things, too much work for me, I don't miss them at all, the boats that is
Geez you make look so lavish
Thanks for the tip. I think I won't live on a sailboat for retirement. You burst my dream bubble. 😮😢
Don’t be dissuaded! We did two trips on that broken boat with lots of drama, and we STILL want to buy a boat to live on at least part time. Just maintain the boat to avoid a lot of the issues! I freaking love the ocean! We’re trying to crew another boat soon!
Preparing a sailboat for open ocean conditions is by far the hardest part of it all.
Once that’s done (if it’s done properly) it’s not that hard.
Sounds like you would’ve definitely benefitted from having an experienced skipper onboard.
Worth it.
Yep!
Like all things you have the good and the bad. Sailors adapt.
Over 30 years living aboard. Keeps me young. At 81 yo, I have no interest in moving ashore.
Come to Indonesia
I have been around the ocean all my alarms have built many boats it is a double-edged sword of Love and Hate when it's good it's really good I mean incredible breathtaking Beauties like you've never seen and when it's bad it will scare the life out of you you wait for Poseidon to swallow you whole I have seen boats with her transom ripped out and no one to be seen around them in between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on that passage that night a storm came up there was a 25 foot Bertram making the Crossing with us 5 people aboard they were never seen again
are you trying to scare me cause i still want to do it
Ha no! I want a boat, in spite of the trauma! This wasn't my boat. I freaking love the ocean.
That ocean is a killer and I'm talking from real world experience.
i have heard you voice somewhere and i cant remember where. I think s om like youtube montage "The 10 best ...".
Its really weird youy voice is so a like that one
I did a bit of voice over several years ago. Mostly for marvel and disney commercials/creative content. A lot of it was on disney channel and disney xd. Some in theaters and on other channels.
I love water, their waves and feel of traveling by boat but i don't think I'd feel ok by living on a boat for more than a week. I can't sleep well with humidity over 65% or be functional person with temperature over 25°C (77°F)
you're a wimp haha
you sound like the blind surfer / youtuber guy
Sweet!
Is like when you want stay away from society maybe can't or don't want pay rent maybe some addictions involve but who cares u do what u want and that set be happy ❤
I want to sail with you me in saudia arabia
Just need to have a bigger boat. 100 x 20 motor sailer. Just like a house on the water.
No, a catamaran over a monohull is much more stable and less likely to make for such difficult travels
that's why your hire a full-time crew😁😁😁
Where’s the fun in that?! 😂
It's all fun and games until you die I'd rather watch experienced sailors
Looks miserable
Sometimes! But I love it.
Good sport for keeping your bowels working and your wife working at cleaning those undies.
STOP COMPLAINING....SELL THE BOAT.... UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Lol. not complaining! Just sharing. Not my boat. I want one! In spite of some challenges, I love it.
No shit
😂
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
And have adventures!
Drop your sails when you sleep
