    A suggestion
..designate a room to be used as a utility room, clean it out, get it organized with shelves for tools, paints, equipment that is gathered all in one place
.you’ll know what you have and can crack on! Great suggestion to organize the ‘crew’ from Billy’s to lend a hand for a couple of days to give you a much needed boost to get the ball rolling
..you deserve that for all you give to other people
.ask for help from Billy to organize it. Make sure you’ve got the paint colors sorted there plus mold sanitizer and undercoat and Osmo that Billy & others love to make floors and furniture spectacular. Get rid of the extras right away to give you & others space so it all can work. Can you load up a truck with stuff ASAP from the ‘don’t want’ pile for a brocante nearby
..do they take such things from people cleaning out their homes? Love the darker almost teal color which is deep and rich & would be grand with the golden tones
..but can’t tell via such a small sample
.it needs a sample pot to paint a plot spot for each color if you are uncertain and look at it in various times of day/nite. Seems overwhelming, but break it down with a chalk board list of priorities of tasks to cross off with each accomplishment. This is way over the limit for one person, so plan it out in bits with a huge chunk of help together with breaks for snacks, liquids, discussions ahead of time so directions are clear & on task. You all can get this done.

  • @NoNoNadiaMoore
    @NoNoNadiaMoore Pƙed 2 dny +76

    I think you should get Michael Petherick to help you with your color choices. The samples you had are so close that it doesn't really matter which one you choose for the bedroom, but if you paint the dressing room a color that is slightly off from the bedroom color it will just look mismatched and like you ran out of the correct color. You need something contrasting or a completely different shade of the same color as the bedroom. A much lighter version. You could even mix in white with whatever color you choose for the bedroom.
    By "throw away" I hope you mean give to charity...

      People, who are going there, are going for the friendship and most people would feel privileged just to stay in a chateau. Spray the room to get rid of insects. clean the window sills and vacuum. The beds Phil has are beautiful. Stuck in the middle of a room will be luxury and it will be fun to experience it all. Cleaning is all that's required. I do always make sure the sheets and bedding are nice. I like linen or 100%cotton. Nice fresh, clean. All the other stuff is superfluous. even a tent in his gardens would suffice.

    Color... Lined up 2 nd from the left.
    If it just for the party guests, paint the pumpkin in the bathroom and touch up the window frames. Put a piece of furniture in front of the torn wallpaper.
    Take heart Phil, I live alone and still find things I totally forgot I had. The trick is finding it before you buy a replacement!!!! I've done that more than once! I like your green candle/lamp. It would look nice on the terrace.
    Unsolicited advice: Can you get a dumpster delivered to your driveway? Go through each room, one at a time, and toss everything you don't have any use for. Put aside any decor you like or can make useful for party night. Put useful stuff you need in the future, like those bags of tile stuff, in whatever room can't be used for the party. Then, paint anything that can be painted without a load of prep. Then strip wallpaper in every room you want to (you'll have a dumpster after all). Fill any cracks with joint compound, sand and paint.
    Feel free to ignore my suggestion. It's how I would do it. I'm off to strim the weeds! Have fun!

    Is there an undecorated room you can rack and store what you're keeping organised by type? Some stuff in bins, larger stuff just on the racks. You might find the racks in one of the rooms too.
    And maybe a spare armoire you can fill with curtains, linen and bedding that you keep, folded so the good sides are inside.
    Good if you can pass on some of what you don't keep to folks you know can use it, and donate some of the rest to charity shops.
    If you're going to keep the planters on the driveway its probably time to pop some plants in them so they will look full at the right time.
    I hope sorting that stuff wasn't too rough. Emotions!

    Whether you ask for help reorganizing or not, well, maybe a bit of both; you just have to find the little temptation in each room to get started, a bit like participating in a discovery game... and yes, keep the lamp! It's quite nice, it could look good on a dark blue background. : ))

But 1st and most importantly as you find out today is that you need to put your stuff in order. If you start a project it will just make more mess. Some viewes suggested asking the Petrick family for help. I absolutely agree. Sadie is really good with organizing , Michael is great with colors, Billy and Yanis could help you getting those walls ready for paint in a day. You will feel so much better when you see things in order and rooms ready for you to renovate. If asking them is not a choice, invite one or two volunteers and give them the task of organizing and helping you with the cleaning. You deserve. You probably are enjoying living alone there ? I keep my inventory list in a Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheet on my computer. As I use items, I delete them from the list. As I purchase new items, I add them. It can be a very helpful tool, however, if you do not keep it current, it will defeat the purpose. Just a suggestion, Phil. You are free to take it or leave it. With so many rooms that need work, it's hard to focus on just one project and complete it. Halfway through, some other need pops up and you have to deal with it. Organizing your tools and other "stuff" is important so you know what you have and where it is.

    The two colours on the left are cold blues, and the two on the right are warm. All four are more suitable for a modern building. You could take the historical colour combinations used in castles of the same period as an example in interior design. The fact that you have decided to do a thorough "inventory" and cleaning in the house is very nice - keep up the good work🙂

    you could select your main colour for the room and then ask the paint mixer person to mix up a "half" or "quarter" version of the same colour so there is some continuity rather than a different tone

    When choosing a paint color, make sure to tape the sample onto every part of the room that you want to be painted and take pictures of it at different times of the day and different lights sometimes dark blue at night and look black. I learned the hard way.

  • @LynnThompsonAuthor
    @LynnThompsonAuthor Pƙed 14 hodinami

    Tape those color swatches up on the wall and look at them at different times of day; the way the light hits them can change them a lot.
    As you take inventory of the things in your house, list them on a spreadsheet and then list in another column which room you keep them in. Then, when you need something, you'll be able to refer to that list and find them. As you add new tools or equipment, add them to the spreadsheet and you can even use it to track when and where you bought them, so if they expire, have a warranty or ever need parts or replacement, you'll know where to go or can tell if something you have is outdated before you go to the store.
    Re the wedding items: if you ever intend to host weddings as a cash generator, those things would likely be good to keep somewhere, well organized, labeled, and stowed where they're readily accessible so you can set up for a wedding. You can add to the wedding supply inventory over time, keeping everything catalogued like the other things so you can easily find it when needed.

    Phil, good for you to recognize and remember why your rules were decided by you in the first place. We all have those moments. I agree with others that sorting out all your supplies, tools, and bits in one room would be excellent investment. Enjoy the process and your projects. It’s perfectly fine to have work in progress at any time and place. ❀

    Hi Phil, I love the dark deep blue best. It looks gorgeous against the gold. It’s masculine without being cold.
    You showed us a “hidden room” off the back staircase a few weeks ago. Why don’t you use it for storage for the time being? You could reclaim the purple bedroom for the party. People especially friends don’t mind the old fashioned decor as long as it’s clean;-) they’ll be more than happy to stay with you and grateful you’ve made so much efforts to host them. I like the idea of a painting boys weekend with Billy, Michael, Yanis etc
 to help you out. BBQ and beers with good music will go down a treat as a thank you!

    Hey Phil, is any of the rooms empty enough to add some metal shelves and to use as a supply room? Maybe the hide-away room. Once you put up some shelves around the perimeter of the room you can move supplies in and stack near like items. (Like kitchen and cleaning stuff together, wedding stuff together, outdoor stuff together painting/wallpaper stuff together. It'll help when looking for stuff to have certain items together.

    My kitchen has high ceiling, dark hickory cabinets and woodwork, and dark brick floor. Even with light walls, we cannot get enough light into that beautiful room. Be aware that if you do the dark color (i like #4), you will need HELLA lights to equal the lighting in another room. Also, try a complimentary neutral in the dressing room, as a dominant color may result in some interesting clothing choices 😁đŸ‡ș🇾
