I'm with you on pulling weeds. It is therapeutic, in fact it's a favorite thing to do after a good rain when they come out easily.

Question - why don't you let volunteers help you with the upkeep of your garden - like Auxiliary Ladies Retired Groups looking for exercise etc or women in general looking to network in their gardening abilities? Giving you more time on interior renovations?

I bet the deceased caretakers family know quite a bit about your home as older people do talk about such things to their family and friends. I would a lot more research before I go digging up your old foundation and unsettling everything that’s so old. They did built supports under buildings back in the day that were arched , I ve seen them in books and on documentaries also. Enjoy your summer! M.

Phil, would you ever consider hiring some young people from town, maybe kids, or grandkids of the bar’s patrons, to help you with odd jobs like weeding? Just a thought.

I weeded my garden here in Sydney Australia two weeks ago and already they’ve come up again. We’ve had lots of rain lately which didn’t help. It’s an endless job. Love the sound of birds at yours and ducks as well 👍

1 gallon vinegar, 2-3 oz orange oil , few drops of liquid dish soap. Put in spray bottle. Miracle weed killer!!

Phil, you are off to a good start on the weeds attack. I have wild morning glory and bishops weeds that are creeping all through my back garden. I have back and heart issues, so I can't bend for any length of time without pain. I pull up a little bit at a time. My back garden is river rock, but I am certain the underlay must be worn out by now. Good luck to you on the weed attack.

It's amazing what a little bit of sunshine can do to brighten your day/mood, the ducklings were so cute and glad they found a new home with you in your Chateau

You keep mentioning you want to make things easier to maintain, may I suggest, landscaping carpet, sometimes called weed barrier , it comes in a roll and is easy to install, and relatively cheap. You could certainly use it on the terrace, and even in the driveway. You would need to rake the stone out first to install it the put the stone back on top, hardly and weeds after that and any that do appear pop out easy since the roots can’t root. . They make it to last 10 yr or 20 yr

5 litres of white vinegar, 250 ml of dish soap and 1.5kg of table salt. Kills weeds in 48 hrs.

I like these new residents to your pond I don't know where the others went though but never mind. Easy enough to clear weeds on your terrace we have seen it before so I won't bother commenting about it. I heard you were assisting Billy with a spot of welding we haven't seen you at all. I hope your guests will assist a little around your chateau would be nice :) Lightning will be glad for the extra attention. Do you serve fish and chips at your pub then ;) best thing for weeds that mixture have done it myself from stuff around the house.

Weeding: one of the least favorite jobs of home ownership! It never ends, they multiply over night, and after bending over to pull them your back feels like you're 108! Lol. I'm also weeding this week. It's been 32°C which makes weeding a real joy! If you leave the weed killer for at least three hours without it getting rained on, it should work a treat!
