Well, technically it was the director’s idea for this, but he knew Nathan Fillion always wanted the role. They had a mutual friend and they met up for dinner and the director pitched the idea to him.
I did not know that. I thought this was someone else's.

I wouldn't really call that an official video game movie, since it's not based off any existing game franchise. Its more like a spiritual VGM in the sense that Pacific Rim is a spiritual Anime/Mecha film.

Cuz unlike Paul Rudd, he actually looks too old to play Drake. He's a perfect fit for an older Nate like the version of him in Uncharted 4.

What is so wrong with actors still acting in their 40's or 50's. Don't people know we will all get old one day and there is nothing wrong with that because that's part of life. There is no such thing as the fountain of youth once father time gets to you. Other's act like if you are old that you should just retire and fall of the face of the earth. I like Nathan Fillion as Nathan drake he will only be the character in my eyes. Harrison ford is 80 playing Indiana Jones and like what you said Paul rudd is 49 Robert Downey Jr is 56 Dwayne Johnson is 47. Plus there are many other actors that I have a list of that are old so others better back off on Nathan Fillion. Or I will start a riot. This is what I think how uncharted should be in the first film cast Nathan Fillion to play Nathan drake then the second one should be the prequel with tom Holland and then have the third installment be a sequel to Nathan Fillion.
I would love if the new Uncharted movie had a post credit scene at the end indicating “20 years later” and reveals Nathan Fillion as Drake and Lang as Sully

Nathan Drake was a character inspired by Nathan Fillion. That's why he is the obvious perfect fit. The game was created after Firefly after all.

This was literally free and available to everyone with internet for years with universal praise and done with a low budget and yet movie executives chose Tom Holland and fucking Mark Wahlberg. I hate it here
If Paul Rudd can be the Ant-man at his age why can't Nathan Fillion be Drake? Marvel has been using older actors as leads and given them franchises; Downey Jr(43), Rudd(46), and Boseman(39/40) started their projects at a similar age. I think it could work.

The fact that they haven't been able to get Nathan Fillion in a live action movie of Uncharted is one of the biggest fails in hollywood history. How hard could this possibly be? You just got of love how hollywood studios repeatedly fail to make the easy obvious choices, whether it be casting the right people, funding sequels to beloved movies, or even getting quality scripts made. But somehow they have no problem cranking out shitty ideas like another Resident Evil movie, a Trasporter reboot, or a remake of a classic movie for no reason. Any person sitting from the sidelines could tell you that an Uncharted movie with Nathan Fillian is a slam dunk, or a sequel to Dredd would be a hit. And we could all also tell you that remaking the Transporter without Jason Statham is moronic. But somehow hollywood execs come to the exact opposite conclusion nearly every time. You can't tell me its about money. Its not like an Uncharted movie would flop. Even if it was shit it would still make bank on its opening week and overseas.

Just look at how engaged they are when watching this… especially the scene when Nate is in the office, speaking on the lost treasure! I’ve seen the clip twice and I’m equally as invested as they are… THIS is how it’s done! Let me remind you, this is a less than 15 minute clip!!!!! Sadly, we got the Tom Holland borefest instead
What if for the Uncharted Film they're doing now, why dont they have Tom Holland play young Drake and Nathan Fillion play the older and just have a story that ties to past and present

Had to come back and watch this after the new trailer. I just love this so much.
What really astonished me was when the director of this said that in an actual feature movie he would not use the over the shoulder camera and other gameplay elements. That was what fans liked about this! Shows Hollywood just cannot help itself, even when they have best intentions they think they know best and screw up their product.
Fillion was perfect ..Lang was ok and the actress playing Elena was fine for the brief time she had .

Technically there's a way to bypass his age... which is for him to play however long he has and also cast someone young for younger Nathan Drake. When he got too old that he can't continue physically, the younger actor can continue and make the rest of the movie-to-come prequel adventures.
Or just set it sometime after U4 then in a later film have Cassie take over

I think Jason Statham would make a good Drake villain. I would have said Walton Goggins, but he was just the villain in the Tomb Raider movie. If they wanted a Harry Flynn-type character from Uncharted 2 I would def go with Luke Arnold from Black Sails.

To comment on something that was said in the video, Nathan Fillion has actually already been in a marvel movie. Even though it was an extremely small cameo, I believe he appears as a character from the comics on a poster in one of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. There might be plans for him to appear later, and I sure hope so!
I think one of the good thing about this Film is that I really enjoyed it, despite the being short, without having any idea that it was based on a game.
He's by far the perfect person for the role. And Stephen Lang perfect for Sully

In Destiny 2, Nolan North took over the role of Cayde-6 to whom was originally voiced by Nathan Fillion. It makes sense that the voices between the two of them could be similar.
Since no one noticed.That kick that nathan drake did to take out Ernie Reyes/Kenu was a knod to the same kick that Kenu used on a foot ninja in his movie debut on Ninja turtles 2 the secret of the ooze.
I was so over joyed at seeing Nathan Fillion in this fan film because he totally nailed the character of Nathan Drake, and also because I'm a fan of the games as well. If this was made into a proper movie I would love to see Brian Cranston as the villain.

They should've actually got Rose for Elena, her personality is exactly like the character she voices.
But can she act? She's an excellent VA, but maybe she can't do live action acting very well? Or maybe she was just unavailable or not interested. I'm sure they tried to reach out to her for this project.

Maybe it's just me but I would have loved the game-play 3rd person style sequence in a big budget 'Uncharted' movie. Now while I agree that it shouldn't last the whole movie (though I'd like to see a good movie do that), I think the sequence we got in this fan-piece was awesome cinematography that gamers would recognize and non-gamers would be intrigued by.
Nathan Fillion is only 47 I think he is plenty young to do a few more action movies, and I hope he does.
The movie we never got. But I do realize that the film coming out is about a younger Nathan and Sully, so it doesn't exclude the possibility of making sequels where they're older (well...assuming the film even does well).

Ernie Reyes Jr is his name and he is from the Philippines. And the Sully is Steven Lang.

Ernie Reyes Jr. (Keno from TMNT 2) also did all the fights for Donatello in the first TMNT. It was fun to watch Ernie's career over the years as I first knew him from the 1986 Disney TV film "The Last Electric Knight" which became a 23 episode series called "Sidekicks" where he co-stared with Gil Gerard who played Buck Rogers in the late 70's series. I absolutely loved Sidekicks. Ernie was also in the 1985 Red Sonja movie as the bratty prince. A lot of people probably remember him from Surf Ninjas. He had kidney failure in 2015 and was still apparently on a kidney transplant waiting list as of August 2019.
Fillion was in a marvel movie. He did the voice for the blue alien prisoner in the prison in Guardians of the Galaxy. the one Groot shoves his fingers up his nose when the first arrive

I have been in love with the Uncharted franchise since I had my PS3. I have played all the games over and over and over even now on my PS4. This is not only a franchise that I love but characters I care about. If they ever get this theatrical film done I want it done right, I don’t want it done just because it’s another popular game turned into a movie, I want the people behind the movie to realize there are people like me who adore Nathan Drake, Sully, Elena, Chloe, etc. and we want to see the job done right so if it takes another ten years to get this movie done correctly then do what needs to be done.
Guess I really got to watch this now. I love Uncharted so I'm interested in seeing it on my own or with you (don't know if you're showing the whole thing)
