WOW 😊 Loved that I could rappel rocks, wade through a river, hike and see the breathtaking views of the Happy Canyon narrows all from the comfort & safety of my house. Thanks, Tristan for the great trip & up close rappelling footage. Great job ! 👏🏻👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
Thanks for tagging along! 😁
@@SUVRVing thanks Tristan, do you have gloves for climbing. That is a beautiful area. Enjoy.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I don't stop smiling when I'm watching one of your videos. It's just so obvious that you are having fun & I have the privilege of sharing the experiences with you through your video craftsmanship. Happy Canyon was definitely a happy experience for me!
I'm sitting in a office chair and my wife is in a recliner, we are both worn out by just watching you. Thanks for the adventure!
True so true , me too worn out just watching . He is a ball of fire , reminds me of me.
Loved the reflective light on the narrows wall coming off the water behind you, while talking... Kinda mesmerizing. The whole hike and climb was totally epic!! Thanks!!
Epic hike! If I know my geology right, the cliffs at the top are the Wingate Sandstone, the slopes below them the Chinle Formation (which explains the petrified wood, as it's commonly found in exposures of the Chinle Formation), and the chocolate-colored wafer-cookie-like multi-layered rock below that is the Moenkopi Formation.
Wow! This qualifies as an EPIC adventure to me! I am always fascinated by petrified trees, and wonder about their history. If only they could tell us about their place in history.
Your climbs are always enjoyable to watch and educational as well. Those narrows, tho’…! 😮 You’re right. They were absolutely stunning! How cool to have been at the bottom amongst all that beauty. I especially liked the light on the water reflecting and dancing on the wall of the narrows. Delightful! What a day you had. I’ll bet you slept well that night! 😁 Thanks for all the work you put into this one. Extremely enjoyable!
Yep, I slept great! Thanks for watching 😁
I LOVE this video! Now, your repelling alone triggers the mom in me but the hike itself is spectacular. Thank you for bringing us along Tristan and BE CAREFUL! I worry about you!😉
I have watched many of your videos and all are spectacular but this one encouraged me to write and thank you for sharing many special places. I appreciate your filming to allow others to see the grandeur of our country. Always look forward to viewing your adventures. Thank you so very much, greetings from Kentucky.
Wow! You are so wonderful to take us along your journey! I can no longer do these adventures but feel like you. Guide me along with you!! So thank you very much! I’m just getting my SUV ready for a 2-3 night outing. We’ll see how that goes! At 71 I won’t be doing any rope work or major hiking.
Always a great adventure Tristan you are the hardest working man on CZcams. Thank you for all of your hard work, your videos make my day.
As always-my favorite part is when your back at your vehicle💞 What a spectacular place-I would love to run my hand along the walls. As a young girl- I ran barefoot until stepping on broken glass & having to walk home over a mile leaving a blood trail. I never got in the water again without sneakers! I think seeing you walk through that muddy river was harder for this grandma to watch than watching you repell over the cliff. Thankful all went well-sending you some old fadhioned grandma love XOXO, Iris 👋
I TURNED MY youngest 32 YR.OLD SON TO YOUR VIDEOS AND HE SAID HE WAS NOT THAT INTERESTED IN WATCHING NATURE VIDIOS. I said he video's hikes that you will not do and has great drone footage and interesting narratives of places he explores in the west that I will never see.. I need to spread your video's to my older siblings. I Guess I like them because I have done a lot you have done when younger and miss it, Repelling is an adventure taking that first step over trusting your equipment. I skydived in my 50's because I love adventure , But you give people in the East the beauty of the West that we will never see from a personal perspective.
I wrote a poem while I was at Burr Point once, all alone, it's in one of my videos on my channel. I got some beautiful video clips while I was there, such a special place.
The Dirty Devil River was named by famed explorer John Wesley Powell, as a comment on how disappointed he was not to find it full of clean water suitable for drinking. So was Bright Angel Creek, to express the exact opposite sentiment.
I’ve said this before, but if you ever write another book, it should be called, ‘What a Place…’
Stunning and spectacular is right! Wowsers. And the petrified tree stumps are really cool too.
WOOOW!! This is one of the most beautiful places I've seen! Your videography is wonderful! Thank you SO MUCH for going here, and making this video. I'm so thankful for people like you, and CZcams, so I can see places I would never be able to see, and would never know about otherwise! ✌️❤️
This was one of my favorite videos, Tristan. Spectacular scenery!. Of all the videos I've watched, this is the only one I can remember where you ended up exhausted and breathing hard. Good for you, man! My favorite part was at the end of Happy Canyon where you relayed your stats; the shimmering reflection of water on the canyon wall over your right shoulder perfectly punctuated the midpoint of the hike.
Burr Point! I’m familiar with that area. I love how you go to these wonderful areas that most people don’t know about. When I was a Park Ranger at Arches NP, we were always headed to these quiet places on our days off. Tristan, you would have made an amazing Ranger!
What amazing scenery. Just the views at the top make it look like a lovely alternative to the crowds at the Grand Canyon. Thank you Tristan.
It's worth going to the starting point just for those views, for sure. Thanks!
Awesome adventure and you captured it beautifully. Those narrows were spectacular! Thanks for sharing with those of us without your climbing expertise who wouldn't be able to see it in person.
Spectacular trip! Glad you took us on this tiring hike and climb. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks!
What an amazing trip this was! I really think that instead of Happy Canyon it should be called "every photo is a work of art" canyon.
Wow... what a spectacular adventure!!! Thanks for taking me along. The camera work is outstanding.
Thanks Tristan, that was one of the best adventure hikes I've seen on Utube. You should always ensure that you have sufficient water/electrolites and regular healthy snacks with you to bolster your energy levels on such a strenuous day.
Very stunning narrows😊the boulders and logs stuck above are impressive. Makes one think about how they got there. The quantity of water that was once there. Thank you for sharing with us. We could never see this without you. Awesome views. Thanks again😊
Those uranium prospectors were a tough breed, exploring that greater area and making trails for/with their WW2 surplus jeeps in some of the most desolate regions of the country, studying those trails on google earth is a trip in itself... Great video of another less visited corner of Utah... Thanks for taking me down there.
At my age I ould never have made that trip down the canyon by myself and I really appreciate your letting me "tag along". Without a doubt the canyon was spectacular and the best part of our hike. Looks very similar to Antelope Canyon in Az. another fantastic place.
Who fantastic if we could have a petrified tree stump for a coffee table! Is it as heavy as rock of the same size? The happy cannon rock walls are gorgeous! Wouldn't it be great to have walls in a house fashioned like these?
I loved watching every minute of this adventure! The red rocks and canyons of Utah are spectacular. Loved the different cameras you used. Those of us who aren't able to do these hikes any more love watching your adventures. Thanks.
n this old 71 year old lady enjoys what you show me. Thank you verry much. Jane in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Thanks Tristan another outstanding video, love how you explained the rock climbing, enjoyed the 4 reasons why you went there , showed me spectacular places I would not be able to make it to but would love to. Love the slots , geology, stats you give and the history. Thanks again ❤
What a great day! Can’t thank you enough for taking us along and showing off the stunning area. Well done you!! Loved it!!
Mesmerizing colors and striations in Happy Canyon. Real eye-candy.
Amazing hike! So glad you made it back in one piece, that was pretty intense. What a beautiful and hidden gem. Thanks for taking us along. I can say I repelled down into a canyon vicariously through you, lol. Love your vlogs! Keep ‘em coming. 😊
Double wow on the climbing filming. Beautiful area. Thank you. And thank you for being clear at the end about the challenge and the fitness required for these stunning adventures.
Dude you’re site is so fun too watch for older explorers with bad knees, you’re fishing channel makes me feel so incompetent thank you very much.
What an exciting hike. Beautiful clifts, rocks, and water.
Great trip, great video! When I saw the petrified stump and other flat sections, I wondered how they seem almost to have been cut, having such a flat surface.
Wow! Loved the Happy canyon narrows, the minor's signatures, the view and the petrified trees. Gosh, I loved everything about this hike practically. But I think I would camp at the bottom, too rigorous for me in one day. Thanks so much!
You have a real sense of storytelling and narration. Anyone who watches your videos must truly feel like they are along with you on your journey. You have a real gift. Keep up what you are doing!!
Every time I tune in another Incredible trip. Loved your comment, "where's the fun in driving when you can do the miners repel". Thanks for taking me someplace I could never get to on my own. Yes, you looked totally spent, great feeling isn't it!
Tristan, such a great hike report !!!🤩 And absolutely stunning views!!!❤ Thanks so much. Cheers 🍻 from Germany, Felix 🙋
Wow is an understatement! You are definitely part mountain goat. Enjoyed the hike through the canyon.
What a fantastic hike. So beautiful. It's not anything I could do and I'm glad it's hard to get to. One less place to trash out. Thank you for another wonderful video.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 waaay to go tristan! thank you for sharing your amazing hike with sooo... many treasures! the moqui marbles were cool. and the narrows were spectacular. travel mercies and continued blessings! 🕊
Another wonderful video, Tristan! I love all the scenery in Utah and I so appreciate you taking the time to video your trips. Your title says "this place would be insanely popular anywhere else." I would add "and rappelling wasn't required." :) Wonderful place!
Tristian, once again you don’t disappoint, great trip, hike and rock work! Just want to share that those petrified logs you sat on are probably a little radioactive, as many were deposited in meandering ancient rivers, covered by sediments and their organic structures replaced by uranium rich minerals through millions of years; that’s why uranium was mined in that are.
The view in the canyon is incredible. Sharon Davis' comment sums it up for me ❤
What a magical place to explore! I must admit that I wanted to see just one more bend past the water! 😅 Easy for me to say from my comfy spot! 😂 So many cool formations! What a gem!
Fantastic episode Tristan! I really appreciate the effort you put into this one. The filming as well as the narration was top notch. You may have equals but none that I have watched are better than this one.
Blessed to have a real pro like you take us on an adventure. All The Best! jim
What an amazing hike! Your recent adventures are making it harder for me to wait out the last 8 weeks on the east coast, relocating back to my native Pacific west for extended travel in the areas you visit, particularly UT went once on my 7 week trip around the country and could not get enough of it. I've been in the Mid-Atlantic for 28 years, relocating from CA in the mid 90s. Anxious to get back. The east is gorgeous, but similar. The west is diverse and I miss the dry heat! I've been keeping track of these spots and am excited.
That was an amazing adventure and another beautiful section of Utah. I know you are a skilled climber, still I keep telling myself I wouldn't be watching this video if things didn't go well. Sorry I guess its just the mom in me. Thank you so much for a great video. ❤
That's one killer hike! Amazing scenery.
Happy Canyon narrows is spectacular!! Thanks for taking us all along with you.
That is the coolest place you've taken us yet. Great physical effort, done topnotch video along the route. Good work in all the technical parts. Narrative and explanations on point. Good tips and advice. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. My wife and I love that area of Utah. Peace, Out.
Thank you for taking me along on this amazing adventure. I’ve known about Happy Canyon but wasn’t able to get there in my younger days. It was fun going along with you. An awesome adventure! 😀👍
I think I remember a hiker who got stuck in quick sand in the middle of the dirty devil around where you filmed . He was rescued eventually.
Tristan, Always great fun watching your video's!
I always enjoy the fact that along with the views
It is having convadence that you always know what your talking about!
That makes it more of a pleasure to enjoy your video's! :) and I should explain how you take everything you do in your video's to mention everything you are doing to make your video's!
Like st the end how you had to ration your water!
Yes, that envolve's your
Energy level! And a lack
Of sleep! I should say also taking in consideration when you
Ate last! I am sure you probably worked off what calories you had for
Breakfast!
Thank you for giving such
Complete description's
Of your entire experience
In each video!!! :)
My favorite part was where you stopped in the canyon. Loved seeing the pool of water shimmering on the walls.
Yeah that was fun to watch. Had my heart pumping just watching the repelling.
I've been faithfully watching your videos for several years now, and I always enjoy them. Today's video was 'spectacular'. Thanks for the adventure. God bless you and stay safe.
Yikes! Tough day at the office but I really wish you wouldn't do that all alone. I selfishly need more of your videos 😊
Your videos always makes me wanting to visit your part of the Western US, Utah, Idaho etc. Those marbles are interesting! What beautiful views!! Since I am no longer able to do long hikes, climbing and other similar activities, I enjoy watching your adventures that show you doing those activities!! Love that 360 camera. Those petrified wood especially the darker pieces are fascinating!! Boy that river is very brown! No wonder it's called dirty devil river. Very cool looking canyon!! Beautiful!! If you are tired, I would have been dead 😂. Enjoyed your video!!
A real treasure. Thank you for sharing.
Just spectacular!
Truly captivating episode. The scenery was ringing some bells and I had to go back and look at my own footage and mapping, but having spent maybe all of 7 or 8 days in all of Utah in my entire life, I have actually been here. I mean, I didn't do that hike of course, and didn't get into those narrows, but I camped on the rim of the larger canyon just above the airstrip (which I didn't even realize was there until watching this) and drove the Poison Springs road. Visiting this canyon from above and below was the absolute highlight of my Utah adventures, and it was awesome to see it again like this - and to see the hidden gems I missed by not hiking about. 😄
WOW!!! Must have been a killer on the rope climb at the end after such a long hike down and up.
WOW, what a beautiful canyon. You are right, there would be tons of people if it were drive and park access.
WOW Tristan 👌👏👌. That was fun!!. I wish I knew how to rappel. That's my kind of adventure. Thank you 👍
Tristan-I thought this was a GREAT video, the best one I-ve seen alll week! And I watch a bunch of videos! Thank you for going thru all this. Very gorgeous! You are awaesome.
Liked the writing on the walls 🥰
An amazing adventure. Sometimes limited access is a good thing for preservation of treasures such as this (and Chaco Canyon). Kudos to you!
Utah, so much to see. What a magnificent slot canyon.
Always enjoy your videos. Beautiful views of the canyon and the narrows. Thanks for your efforts to show us another great adventure.
Wow! I'm impressed
again another cool place that I at my age will never get to go in person, so thank you for taking me there !!!!

Tristan, WHAT a video! Thank you so much for the rappelling, taking us all to such an interesting & gorgeous area.
What a beautiful place. I love the cayon area what a gorgeous place .Rest you deserve it. Take csre and thank you....😊
What a great hike/climb. Take your water filter with you so you can refill at the river both ways.
Incredible! What an amazing adventure! Simply beautiful!
Amazing location/scenery! Thanks for sharing that canyon. By the way, I want to compliment you on a specific episode you did awhile back. Mt. Timpanagos and your family heritage... interesting, dramatic, and heartfelt! Thank you for sharing some personal family history. Also, have you ever, or plan on ever exploring the Virgin River in the Virgin River Gorge?
Lovely landscape and well done. Watched a lot of your videos and loved them all. Cheers mate from Downunder.
hey man, i have just found your channel and i love your videos and your calm, down-to-earth style. really great pictures of even greater sceneries, that give me "fernweh", a german word for longing to be gone from here and somewhere, maybe there. take care of yourself and your kin, my best greetings from germany!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoy the videos, and I appreciate you watching.
😎👍 Awesome adventure!
Incredible views and skill on your part - what ever you earn from these - it’s not enough!
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing your strenuous adventure! Stay well!
What an absolutely gorgeous canyon and tremendous effort! Glad you didn’t die from dehydration 😮
Spectacular video.
Thank you for sharing such a unique place which you could see all by yourself
this is up there as far as your coolest hikes go. Impressive!
Well, dang. Now I'm gonna have to either buy a jeep or learn to rappel.
Wow your stamina is awesome! Loved watching it, such beautiful scenery.
Wow...amazing adventure. Thanks for sharing and please be safe!!!
Great hike, way beyond my abilities. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful 😍 canyon!!!! Please take care of yourself, good nutrition!! Blessings
Using that ascender brings back memories, my friend. I bet you were beat at the end. Sleep well
Me too! Gibbs and jumars. But I’ve just plain knocked knots too. What a great time that was…a lifetime ago.
Wow, that really was quite an adventure. I drove by that Dirty Devil River when I was doing the Mighty Five but didn't even get a photo. I was very intrigued with the Henry Mountains too being the last to be explored range in the lower 48! but too cold and rugged for an old man like me ha ha
