Thanks for this. Can you please help with a video around Edge and Authenticator? It's a little confusing. I've got edge on my iPad and iPhone and PC but when you toggle the switch on the iphone where authenticator is installed, it allows you to use edge or authenticator or both for passwords. And then what happens on the ipad where there is no authenticator, only edge? This is all very typical Microsoft confusing.... please help!
Hello. I am having trouble restoring my iPhone microsoft authenticator app to my Macbook Air microsoft authenticator app. Is this possible as i cant find a way for it to sync or restore to my Macbook. On my iphone it is backed up to iCloud but it doesnt give me an option to restore from iCloud or my email on the Macbook app.

I notice that no all accounts would popup when I try to login..while with other accounts, I get a pop notification where I just click on the matching number. How can I have this done for all accounts?

regardless of which app, is it possible to reverse engineer authenticator apps? Let's say someone has either physical access or remote access (via malware) on your phone and they got passed all the lock screens. So now they have the 6 digit authenticator codes, can they reverse engineer the app to get your password to your accounts/emails?

Thank you for doing this video. I tried authy and loved it and added all my accounts to it but the ICONs are so small. I emailed them and they said there is no way to make it bigger which Is a disappointment. After watching this video I now know about the backup feature with Microsoft authenticator as I was always afraid I may delete the app in error or if I misplace my phone it was all gone so thank you. Is there a way to transfer all my accounts 23 accounts from Authy to Microsoft authenticator?
Hey Ryan, thank you so much for your comments on this and my Authy video. This type of feedback makes creating videos worthwhile! I really appreciate it :) Tbh, I'm not sure about transferring accounts from Authy to MA. My guess would be it's not possible because I think the Authy backup is held with Authy and only retrievable when restoring to the Authy app. I'll do a bit of digging and if I find a solution I'll do a video on it :). @@FacultyofApps I did some research and I don't believe it's possible to migrate. I was so excited for Authy because of desktop and mobile access but I am not sure why the accounts boxes are small...... it's bugging me. Customer service at Authy said lots of people complain about the same thing.... I guess I will have to do the transition one at a time. I went through lots of your other videos and I " like" them all. I just discovered you a few days ago. Anyway, keep up the good work.

I realize this is a video for setting up Microsoft Authenticator on an iPhone, but it's very similar on an android. I have a question for you, or anyone kind enough to answer:
If I used Microsoft Authenticator for 2FA on my Google account, what would happen in the hypothetical, but very real, scenario where you were using Microsoft Authenticator that does not allow multi-device use and you lost or broke your android phone.
When setting up a new android phone, you need to log into your Google account, but I would no longer have the 2FA authenticator TOTP codes to login to the new phone, since they would be on my lost or broken device...how would you set your new phone up? With the recovery codes that you should be saving as backup when setting all of this up?
The scenario you describe has sadly happened to many people, who find they are locked out of all their accounts because they no longer have access to the authenticator app. In the case of a Google account, Google might offer other ways of authenticating yourself if you lost access to your 2fa codes, but I wouldn't rely on it. Personally I prefer Authy because it does offer multi-device use.
Two many steps and therefore very confusing. Seems to be a very complex process

Ummm, click bait? You said you were going to show us how to setup and use the authenticator. You kind of passed over the setup and use part and jumped straight to Facebook. I downloaded the authenticator app, and have no idea how to use it. I'm still trying to login to my Outlook account, but can't because it says I have to use the authenticator app. I'm going in circles. How do I get outlook to ask me for the authenticator code?

Hmmm not sure to be honest. You might be able to export your codes to a second phone but not sure whether it would sync new codes.

how do you recover your Microsoft account? because my PC keeps notifying me that it sent a code to my device, but i cant find it on my authenticator.

Hi, yes don't worry, it's perfectly normal. When you're ready to log in, just use the number that is currently displayed on screen. 🙂
