Good information. Correction- A 20% Tax Collected at Source (TCS) applies to foreign remittances exceeding INR 7 lakhs, except for those intended for education and medical purposes. Remittances below INR 7 lakhs in a financial year are exempt from TCS.
Similarly Opal card has a weekly limit of 35 aud. This is very useful. My opal card reaches this limit by Thursday every week, which helps for free travel across Sydney during weekends!!

There is no limit to the amount of physical currency that may be brought into or taken out of Australia. However, travellers entering and departing Australia must report any currency they are carrying of $10,000 or more in Australian dollars, or the foreign currency equivalent. But in my opinion keep the money in wise and keep the card and app in the phone. Thats the best way instead of keeping cash. Add the digital card into the phones wallet and you should be able to use for any purposes.
