  • Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
Exterior. C/U of hand tightening bolt on small wheel with a spanner. C/U of Mr Alf Tabb of Kidderminster turning the pedals on a miniature bicycle which is upside down on a table in his garden. L/S of Alf turning the bicycle the right way up and testing the wheels on the table. Narrator suggests it could be ridden by "the little people". Alf takes the bicycle from the table over to the garden path. C/U of Alf getting on his bicycle which is 5 inches high and has 3 inch wheels, it is the smallest bicycle which can actually be ridden in the world.
M/S of Alf and his 12 year old granddaughter Pauline riding down the garden path, her bicycle is 9 inches high. Shots of the two riding across the road to a row of other miniature bicycles. Shots of Alf riding a slightly bigger 'upside down' bike with the saddle underneath. The narrator says Alf is a cycle maker by trade and he has been making the miniatures as a hobby for "a few years now" as he is 75 years old.
M/S of Pauline on a Penny Farthing miniature. C/U of Pauline looking at bicycles. Shots of Alf on bicycle with 'eccentric' wobbly back wheel. M/S of Alf and Pauline on a miniature tandem riding on the road. The narrator says the bicycles are made from old bits and pieces but stresses they are finished properly with ball bearings in the wheels, because they are used in a stage act to raise money for local charities. Alf and Pauline cycle out of shot on their tandem. The narrator makes a joke that the bicycles could solve parking problems.

This fella was a legend. There are Pathe clips of him, featuring his mini bikes, spanning 1938-1971. Apparently he passed away in 1976, over 90 years of age!
