They should specify that if you try to stop suddenly, the rider will pivot forward into the ground headfirst.

Pure physics. If the thing is going thirty miles per hour and you stop the wheel, you will continue forward (and down!) at 30 mph.

Well, no mechanical brakes. Since the pedals don't freewheel, a little back pressure slows you down. If you need to hard stop, just dismount, and with your left foot on the peg apply pressure to the rear wheel with your right foot. Works a treat. You mount and dismount a lot on a high-wheeler in the city.
Surely they should be fined for going through a red light.

Anytime you try to stop, it's a potential crash. These things are very unsafe. These bikes weren't on the scene very long , the safety bicycle was invented in 1885 quickly rendering Penny Farthing bikes obsolete. Anyone who rides a Penny Farthing now is just seeking attention.

@@SteffiReitsch Some people like old technology. I don't ride these, but I understand the appeal (I drive vintage cars and tractors, and build steam engines). But "everyone who likes things I don't like is dumb and just seeking attention" I guess.

Rofl, you really have no idea of bike prices eh? At least here in belgium people are regularly paying 500-1000 euros for a normal city bike, 5000 for an electric bike, and 2000-8000 for a decent racing bike. I can't imagine these have large production numbers, probably close to a custom bike. Not to mention the spokes, wheels and tires must be expensive. 2000 seems normal.

Very stable, actually. You're riding a huge gyroscope, after all. You can maneuver at a much lower speed than a regular bike.
