Some really poor refereeing decisions, particularly in game 4. Was the ref getting tired too?

The Referee is so bad. Change the Ref. So many bad calls. He needs to get more training.
    Nice game.

Yeah haven't seen a match where a player got so robbed in a while. 4th game completely ruined by referee.

They somehow always manage to live stream the most anti free flowing squash matches haha

Curious that the first instance of 'striking opponent with the ball ' by Dessouky (albeit hitting just Miguel's racquet in the third point of the match) with a shot-directly on a path to the front wall-was awarded with only a LET, but the second such unfortunate occurrence, when Fares was fully tagged in the kidney by Rodriguez, was rewarded with a STROKE...

      that's social science for you

It's because FD chose to play a let. Had he not insisted it would have been rewarded a stroke.

Dessouky ASKED for a let. That's just good squash etiquette - he should have stopped and not played the ball. If he didn't ask for a let he would have gotten a stroke but possibly also a warning from the ref.

Hmm... While the sportsmanship is commendable, it's interesting that the players are given ultimate adjudicational authority. Would Fares have been so magnanimous if it were match ball in the balance?@@olddog123

Consistently bad calls from the ref. I guess we can argue the calls evened out for both players.

The constant drivel from Joey Barrington about players blocking their opponents cross court shot is very irritating. You need to give your opponent the option to play a cross court (in fact according to the rules a clear shot to the entire front wall) but in practice referees do not require that. If you do not it is a STROKE and that MUST be the rule otherwise players will just block a cross court and only allow their opponent a boast or a down-the-line shot. Obviously no-one should hit their opponent, they should hold their shot and be awarded a stroke.
