Awesome Dom. I am loving records lately. This weekend I scored a collection of 835 pieces of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal vinyl, CDs, cassettes and DVDs for just under $0.50 per item. Full of rare Misfits, Metallica, AC/DC, Ramones, complete sets of RUSH, Japan imports tons of bands. Just started going through it all. I've also sold a sealed 1977 Star Wars soundtrack for $200. Great list, I wansn't aware of a lot of them, but I am now!

Thank you so much for this incredibly informative video! I always look at piles of records and have no idea what I’m looking at. You have given me a place to start and I really appreciate that. 👍😃

When I saw you were on about these, I thought Elvis would be near to the top, as he is still good today to listen to as he was when he first came around. This information is invaluable to record collectors starting out. Thank you, Don. Charles in the UK

Collect it because it's Bernard Purdie! "You done hired the hit maker! Bernard "Pretty" Purdie!".

Wow-- this is a awesome list and great post! I have both the Shining and Hard Day's Night in my old collection (but Hard Days Night was seriously played to death!). Now I'll take better care flipping through LPs at thrift stores. One thing I often wonder about are Broadway soundtracks with 'original cast' or other pluses, as I see them so often. Thanks for the post and great info!

Soundtracks is one thing that I will pick up when I find them.
Many a time I will go through boxes that have already been picked and find some nice soundtracks that have been passed up.

Have a record cabinet packed full of albums from the 1930s thru 1968, that hasn't been opened since 1969. I'll get to it someday. I remember some of those super thick 78s being in there as a child.

13:49 Being an "old-timer" I am very aware of this . Yes; OLD SCHOOL valuable. Back in the day we used to confuse THIS with "Mutiny on the Bounty" LOL.

Been a heavy collector for 45 years. From a musical standpoint I could care less about 2/3 of this list. Still very interesting. I would be able to flip most those with zero hesitation. Too bad I've never seen any of these.
I've had a reissue copy of Lialeh for 20 years. Have never even seen an original, never expect to. But any Bernard Purdie record fetches good money. He was a session drummer with more credits than you can count. If you're GenX or older, he probably played on one of your favorite songs. This particular record was for an X-rated movie, so it didn't have a big run. However, a lot of the drums on this record ended up being sampled by rap music. Tracking down original sample sources has been a giant collecting niche since the 90s.
I still wonder who buys those Caine Mutiny records. It has been the top dog since forever. I've never listened to it, but I can't imagine it's that great!

Excellent content once again. Completely forgot about some of my vinyl collection and you got me to thinking now that the new Top Gun movie came out I have an autographed copy of the original soundtrack. Might be a great time to sell that, since people might be searching for the new video stuff?

Kind of off topic, but I have a copy of the Beatles "Revolver." It is on the red Capitol USA target label, not Canada. The vinyl is beautiful (it has the Winchester symbol on one side in the dead wax) and the cover is in the shrink wrap (missing about 1/3 of the back shrinkwrap from the opening back) but still excelkent condition. Any ideas on value?

Oh man you’ve done to me again! watching your videos I get to feeling like you’re telling me a great fish tale. About how so and so got lucky under the bleachers. Yeah, like that’ll ever happen to me. Although I do believe it happened to someone, somewhere, at a whenever o’clock

That was a fun trip down memory lane. I have the ‘boot?’ L.P. of The Caine Mutiny.
I know the story behind the few pressings that did ‘escape’ onto the market .
It’s a great soundtrack which was released, finally, on CD a few years ago minus the dialogue that, I thought, always spoilt Max Steiners score..
      Thanks again.
      Merry Christmas.

1:37 The first LP was legitimate -- but THIS is a "fake market". I wish you wouldn't blend "classic / vintage" with "Limited Edition".

    • @TheAuctionProfessor
      @TheAuctionProfessor  Před 2 lety +2

The items in the list are the most valuable. Being limited does not make it fake. Limited Edition items have been around since the 1920s. Promos, record club editions, grocery store give away discs, and so many others are limited and have been produced for 100 years or more. All items are legitimate soundtracks.
