Cords cords cords - how things have changed. It may be a small thing but when you watch the video again look at all the cords they have to deal with. Constantly adjusting them and moving them around. With vocalists back then it was part of the act how they would use the other hand to hold it, just like Joe Lynn Turner here. What a great song and band. 40 years ago and we know it can happen here.
Big Fan of almost all Rainbow. Cloverdale, Dio, Turner. And Bonnet, right? I'm celebrating my birthday listening to Rainbow and some Deep Purple. . Nobody sounds like Ritchie Blackmore.
If Blackmore ever played the same lead twice on a tune, it would be his first. But he makes it work, because after all, he's Ritchie (EXPLETIVE) Blackmore damn it !!!
Im a punker from laredo chief but damn ive always loved Rainbow.......deep purple and black sabbath.....san anto is my go to for my metal and punk shows...as a kid id watch the Rainbow live on Mtv early 80s
Formidabili .
it's kinda natural to play a little to alot faster live. Blackmore pumps it up on all of live recordings I have heard. Ritchie wants to kick your ass and a memory you will never forget. many great guitarist bought their first guitar after seeing Ritchie perform the night before.
Mark Hauptman yes, it is. Having pushed him out of Purple in 73, Blackmore invited him into Rainbow in 1979, where he remained until Purple was reformed in 84. Glover has said he thinks it was Blackmore's way of admitting he'd been wrong to discredit Glover in the early seventies.
Mark Hauptman. I like Glover the most of any bassist Blackmore played with. Great Producer and a good song writer also. Plus he just looks like he's having a blast all the time.
Blackmore being left out of the Beck, Page, Clapton conversation.... Unfuckingbelieveable. He might be the most well rounded of all the aforementioned, with possible exception to Page, in that regard....
Zeppsett! You're on the same page on said comments /w me as well-- sooo, here's the thing, I think ppl are FINALLY giving the 😈 devil his, err, Ritchie his due-- how can U?? He's single- handedly changed the landscape of R&R along with the short- list of Pagey, Hendrix, Beck, Trower, Angus, Townsend, Dave Gilmour- and others- may the Black Knight keep it going many more yrs.to come👊💯🎵
Wow....tempo holy crap....I know it's live and everybody's amped up but wow 180 BPM? Just asking for a drunk friend 🤘 And why would you ever want any other bass player than Roger Glover?
@87cadillachearse I dunno. Looks (and sounds) more like speed to me. Especially considering the tempo; this is about 15 or 20 bpms faster than the record.
JMO, but Rainbow was better than DP. Not a hot take, just my personal preference. This is a fantastic song and a lot of fun to play...at normal speed. It's really far too fast here. Probably because Ritchie was stoned out of his gourd.
Why do bands tend to play their songs so much faster when they play live versions. I think they loose the groove by playing things so fast. Its great that they have the chops to speed up the song but it looses the musicality . I really love this song but I like the album version much better.
I have always wondered why americans pronounce "San Antonio" as "San antone".... Why do they leave the " i " out of the word?, but then again, maybe It's just Turner, if I'm mistaken, pls don't kill me
Epicusername0412. Its people who aren't from there who want to think they sound like Texans. Texans and literate people pronounce it San Antonio, with the "io" at the end. Same with San Francisco. People who live there call it San Francisco or just "The City". Tourists and dorks call or "Frisco."
Buck Johnson I’m from San Antonio n I call it San Antone...when I’m traveling abroad.. people are accustomed to it.. because they call it San Antone in all the old western movies
i'll let you in on a little secret, David.... Ritchie was miserable his whole life until he met Candace and took off in a whole 'nother direction musically. i've been to several Blackmore's Night concerts over the last couple of years, and Ritchie is getting more and more personable because of her, i believe. he's certainly interacting with the audiences more than ever before and his playing reflects a new-found sense of inner peace. his solos are more fluid and intelligent than ever before (and i've been fortunate to have seen him play live a dozen times since 1973.)
myrryxmas. Well I suppose If you want to have tea with him and talk about Global Warming. Me? I wanna see Ritchie at Mach 3 with Ian, Cozy or another punch you in the gut drummer,, while Ritchie does another lead others only dream they can do.
Blackmore is great, but I think he has a tendency to 'put on a show' when there are TV cameras in an auditorium. Still, he is the best, so he can do what the hell he likes, as far as I am concerned. Can't wait for the Manchester show in a few weeks' time. It can happen here!
Mr Roger Glover, one HELL of a bassplayer through the years.
Yes ! Thank you ! I could not agree more
The Best!
Blackmore kicks so much ass it's not even measurable... This is great man...
Blackmore is a Genius. I love listening to Ritchie Blackmore.
Lifelong fan.
Thanks.

As much as I prefer the Dio-era, these guys killed it. I've gotta give Joe Lynn Turner credit, he's an amazing singer.
He is a bad ass and looking back at all of Rainbow they always had great vocalists/frontmen. I love this music.
Anything with Dio is better, but JLT is most definitely an amazing talent.
When Mr.Blackmore plays in the mood the show is amazing !
I like this song. I remember when I was high school student.
Ritchie is really capable of some one of a kind playing when he's in the zone.
One of his best solo songs.
Bobby Rondinelli is amazing on his super Yamaha RC 9000 red hot kit!!
Big Fan of almost all Rainbow.
Cloverdale, Dio, Turner.
And Bonnet, right?
I'm celebrating my birthday listening to Rainbow and some Deep Purple. .
Nobody sounds like Ritchie Blackmore.
I love this version.
Of course It's GOOD...It's Blackmore & Glover !!! ;-)
I attended this gig AWESOME!...Riot opening...so cool
You saw Riot open??? Damn, I'm so jealous, I love RIOT.
Saw them at the Cornwall Coliseum, still got the sweat shirt. Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
If Blackmore ever played the same lead twice on a tune, it would be his first.
But he makes it work, because after all, he's Ritchie (EXPLETIVE) Blackmore damn it !!!
This is the first single i ever bought, i was about 9
What a band what a line up..Please reform !
I was there!!! Was supposed to be in my HS freshman orientation but fk that, Blackmores Rainbow is in town
Ritchie Blackmore fantastico una esplosione di magia della chitarra...GRANDE

Same question. Glover is fantastic here....a perfect machine
Simply a DUMBASS...Sure He Don't Know Blackmore & Glover Are Living Legend From Deep Purple !!!

That's what I Like...Speedy Rock & Roll Version...Great Track !!!
Check out the reverse sweep picking at 1:28 at the end of that lick.
Здорово 👍 рок 🎸 навсегда здорово 👍
Had to slow it down to .25 speed to try and see what Ritchie was doing at 1:27 it's outrageous.
It's an arpeggio
Speaking only for myself, an in person explanation from Richie would be like Plato trying to educate a blade of grass.
is that Roger Glover on bass?
Mark Hauptman yes, it is. Having pushed him out of Purple in 73, Blackmore invited him into Rainbow in 1979, where he remained until Purple was reformed in 84. Glover has said he thinks it was Blackmore's way of admitting he'd been wrong to discredit Glover in the early seventies.
Yes, it is the Welshman.

@@buckjohnson725 and he produced some of my favorite albums, like Judas Priest's Sin After Sin and his own Butterfly Ball project. Love those albums.

......I've heard of playing fast before but yowza!.....BR is WORKING.....GREAT BAND...
Why is the guy giving Roger thumbs down at 2:10
I saw this tour in Dallas at the Wintergarden. Good show in spite of Ritchie being obviously fcked-up.
Genius but strange 😳😂
I think Roger Glover raided Micky Moody's wardrobe!
His hat
JMO, but Rainbow was better than DP. Not a hot take, just my personal preference.

Joe lynn at his best!

prydonian460
more like slowed down in the studio
Because it was the early 80s and each band member snorted an 8 ball of quality blow right before playing this
🤘☠🤘
I freaking love this song but they're way too fast on this performance they're all jacked up on Blow or Jack Daniels or something
