SHOW WAS CANCELED I GOT TO SEE ACDC BUT I BLAME THAT DH RICHIE BLACKMORE PROBABLY SOME BEEF WITH BAND MEMBERS OR OVERDOSE. NEVER FOLLOWED THEM AGAIN FUCK RAINBOW 🌈

Greatest group

Deep Purple, 1973, "Who Do We Think We Are" Tour, ABC's "In Concert", Hofstra University auditorium. Ian Gillan, and Ritchie Blackmore by this point were no longer speaking to each other outside of discussing the setlist, and Ian knew he was leaving the group, but promised to finish out the tour obligations. Roger however, was unaware he would be leaving also, as Ritchie and the rest of the group came to the agreement that Ritchie would stay, as long as they got another bass player when Gillan left - otherwise, Ritchie planned to leave as well and take Ian Paice with him and form a NEW group with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy. So the decision was made to sack Gillan and Glover, find replacements, and Blackmore & Paice would stay. This is also the ONLY 'PERIOD' footage containing a live performance of "Smoke on the Water" with the MKII lineup (albeit edited). ABC also filmed "Strange Kind of Woman" (edited also) for this program, and the entire program can be seen on DVD "Deep Purple Live '72/'73", previously titled 'Machine Head Live 1972' on VHS. Sadly, ABC had the annoying practice of 'wiping' any unused footage not used for broadcast, and the rest of the show is lost forever.😢

I wish they had a poster that I could buy.. of Richie Blackmore playing that guitar solo with 250,000 people in front of him at night everyone of them paying attention to what he’s doing!…. Those type of concerts will never happen again not even close

I’m not even sure if the rest of the band ever appreciated Richie Blackmore for what he does… because once he left the band, they acted like he was replaceable and I love Steve Morse. He’s a great guitar player…. but that’s not deep purple, and everybody knows it.

Rumor has it the middle pick up was disconnected. He only used the neck in the bridge pick up for all of his guitar work…. I don’t know if that’s true but Richie Blackmore is awesome

If you are a musician that has played live.. you know what I’m talking about.. think of the amount of watts and power he had behind him and the amount of feedback he would’ve gotten unless he was a complete master of the volume control, muting with his palm and that Stratocaster it was a stock Stratocaster back in1974.. his guitar solo is nothing short of awesome the way he was able to do it with no squealing no feedback. He forced it to do what he wanted instead of the other way around… without the technology of the 80s and 90s early 70s think about that could many people and perform that well under those circumstances??

I get another verse of what your guitar is saying=Greensleeves is of the Classical genre' , even though it is a "folk" song, ( A Classical melody piece, the church stole, and put to words ). Now I hear that a folk song can be a Classical piece without words, commonly referred to as Classical Folk. The Folk genre, and the sub genre of Classical Folk, also cross over into the 2nd sub genre pf Medieval, therein lies a huge problem. I cannot compare musicians for each brings his or her own set of skills. Jon Lord and Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman each was truly gifted on his craft in their own unique ways. ... They all bore a magnificent showmanship in their own right. . Long live the progressive keyboardist that enthused us all!!
