    My parents were Rockhounds when I was a kid in the 60s. We lived in the Mojave desert of California but traveled to other states. We had our own lapidary workshop. I absolutely loved it, I licked alot of rocks as a kid

    The "mossy plume" agate was spectacular. The seam agate looked like an impressionist painting. Ain't it grand when there aren't any fractures.

      Thanks Kate! Glad you liked them. The Moss agate is more of a plumey jasper but I stuck with the local terminology. I have a lot of the Moss agate if you ever want to trade. I have to go back and get more of the seam agate.

    That last piece, the sea agate, was mesmerizing! There were a hundred different worlds in that one rock, I could spend hours looking at this. What an artist Mother Nature is. Loved this!!

    That last one was a huge rock to cut and you did an amazing job with it. What a nice pattern inside. It looks so good rough I can't imagine when it's polished and even more beauty is brought out.

    That banded chert has some smart colouring to it...don't know why I think of Gucci lol That hike was well worth the effort for those results, gorgeous agates indeed! There's so much choice in that one slab alone, it would be hard to find a favourite spot on it :)

    I would love a chunk of that seam agate. The color is so awesome and the patterns are something else. I wish that I knew that you had such beautiful agates there when my folks took a trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick,but I think it was in 1998, a little over a year before my dad passed.     dude that last one is just wild, its amazing how solid they are with no fracturing. Mind blowing rocks!!! I love them all, but the big seam agate and the plume jasper agate are just works of art :)

      Oh man no cracks in the moss/plume! Rad!!!!! I’ve really learnt a lot from the lap club about cracks haha. So many of mine have cracks that mean lap work will be super hard unless they’re really small.

      The saw used in this video is an old core cutting saw built in the 70's. But hi-tech diamond sells very affordable beginner saws, 6" and 10". The link to their website is in the description of this video. Good luck!!

      The saw used in this video is an old mercury 14" core cutting saw. It's a bit awkward to use as you can see in the video. Not really practical for cutting slabs but it's the biggest saw I can get my hands on locally.

    If your diamond blades are doll you can peenin them with a rasp medium to large size steel file by striking the blade with the edge of the rasp I found that striking it every 16th of an inch or so all the way around the blade is grate

      There are no fractures so with a slab saw probably pretty thin. The blade on the saw is used is pretty thick.
