Congrats on 10k subs!🥳🎉🎊
@@fsalex937 Thank you so much! I'm so grateful for everyone's support along the way.
A Gamer's Wife I’m wondering what is the type of your axolotl that’s a grey color?
@@dannydahl7982 He's a melanoid. :)

EARLY. also. Such a cuddly and smiley animal. Yours look very healthy!
Also CONGRATS ON 10K!!!
Thank you so much! Haha, us "FishTubers making off-brand videos about non-fish pets" gotta stick together. 😜
FTRrrrrr do it more idc if it has a schedule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jk do it whenever
@Georgia Tate no
Hi!
Successfully plugging in USB on first try? Now that's skills.
🤣😂🤣
I want a axolotol so bad! Their so cute and Ive done tons of research! My parents said I can get one this weekend! Im so exited!
Holy cow, that's awesome! What color morph do you think you'll get?
A Gamer's Wife I dont really care! I will love it however it looks! 🥰
make sure you have a cycled tank
did you cycle your tank? doesnt sound like it tbh
Gecko yup, I have a cycled tank, aquarium fan, filter, all that stuff! Ive got it all set up!
One thing that should be added is that fine grain sand is a good substrate for them! Along with tile and no substrate. I find sand is really nice for the aesthetic reasons, and it gives them something to grab onto when they walk/swim around on the ground
Never use gravel! Axolotls will choke on gravel! They like picking at the bottom, and will end up choking on gravel. The fine grain sand passes right through there system since it’s so small, gravel however, will not
Hope this helped any new axie owners!
Awesome, thanks for explaining the substrate situation more clearly!
Would you just replace the sand every time you change the water?
@@imhumaniswear6736 if youre using a siphon to change the water make sure to siphon near the bottom because thats where all the gunk builds up. and you wouldnt need to replace the sand. sorry for being a year late
@@koz2178 thanks! I'm still looking into getting an axolotl, but that'll be later in Life for me lol
@@imhumaniswear6736 there Is one in kuwait I swear!
Some Axolotls like to jump. Mine jumped out like 2 hours after I put him in his tank. Please put a lid on if yours is young, overly active, or has previously jumped out.
Wow, thanks for sharing! My axolotls never jumped, but maybe they were just lazy. :)
maybe it didn't have enough oxygen?
@@monsterbooks1059 Mabye you didn’t have air
the first video really helped me with my axolotl and this one tells me what i should get
Thank you for posting your Axolotl videos. Your care guide was awesome in helping me figure out how to feed my Axies their bloodworms! In a jar! Coolest tip ever!
I have four Axies in an 80 gallon with a chiller and a unique filtration system I rigged together. I really appreciate your attention to detail - the smooth edges of the tank decor, the plastic plants to diffuse flow, etc.. I also really appreciate your brevity and ability to give a ton of info in a very brief period. You're one of my favorite channels because of that!! :)
Oh my goodness, that means so much to me!! You totally made my day. 🤗
Currently in the process of cycling and setting my tank up before I get a lil baby. This video is very helpful. I bought this exact usb fan. It's AMAZING. my tank temperature went down 2 degrees in the first hour and is still going down. Thank you so much!
i’ve been watching go helping recently and now i want an axolotl and i’m glad you just mentioned him😂
Excellent list. I can’t believe I missed this video.
Thanks for the idea of the insulation and fan! I have been wanting an axolotl for so long but was worried about cooling and cost. Thanks so much, subbed 😊😊
Thank you for this video so much! It helped me a lot. Keep up the good work!
Thank you SO much this was super helpful!!
Thank you so much
Very enjoyable as always! Big congrats at reaching 10K. Well deserved
Thank you so much! It feels like a dream. 😊
Thanks now I know how to take care of the oxalotl when I get one for my birthday
You are so helpful I love it ❤️ thanks for the tips!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
I just got two axolotls - an albino named Butters and a speckled one names Speckles! This vid helped me so much!
this is going to help me so much thanks
I love this video!!! thanks 😘
Lots of good info and great shots of the cute lil axolotls.
👍💕👍
Awww, thank you so much! They're such cute little creatures. 🐉
You helped me sooo much
I love your videos ! They are short but very informative, and I wish that I had come across them months ago when I adopted two axolotls that needed rehomed. immediately
Thank you so much! Glad you've found them helpful. :)
Great video and very informative x
I'm getting a real axolotl in a week and we're so excited
Thank you so much this video was very helpful I am very interested in getting an Axolotl but I've never had any experience with axolotls only just regular fish when I was a kid so this video was very helpful thanks
I’m going to need a lid because I have cats who will try eat it.
Lola Blueberrycloud lol same
Awesome...your so crafty and inventive...
Thank you so much!
Love ur earrings! I also love axolotls there so cute !
I’m getting an axolotl soon so this helped
Your earnings are adorable!
Thank you so much! My friend got them off Etsy for me; I think they were made in Spain. :)
In my two axolotl tanks I have Amazon sword, golden Anubis, and Java fern in plant pots with no light and no fertilizers and their all doing great! They have been running for 6 months now. Also I just have an aquarium fan on top of both tanks I got them on Amazon for $20
I am trusting you with my axolotls life.
I love your earings!!!
Thank you so much! A sweet friend of mine got them from Etsy for me. 😊
soooo cool
Genius!
Your earrings -so pretty and cool :D
Great advice. I've been thinking of getting one. Going to found out if my exotic vet will work on them first. Not very many vets in Wyoming that do exotics. You always have great tips and I really enjoy your videos.💖🙂
Yes, that's so smart! My #1 mistake with my axolotls was not making sure I had an exotic vet lined up in case of an emergency. Let me know if you end up getting one. :)
Hey! Love your channel! I was curious on what type of tank you currently keep your axies in.
Great video, great advice for beginner axolotl keepers👍
Thank you so much! Hopefully it'll help some new axolotl keepers out there.
@@GirlTalksFish Yes and I think you definitely have😁
Ahhh! Love the earrings!💕(why don’t they have an Axolotl emoji 🥺)
Beautiful
Thank you so much!
I have 2 Axolotl tanks one has a Cascade HOB that was REALLY cheap on Amazon and was completely ajustable. The other tank has a Cascade Canister filter. Can't say which works best but they both work super well at keeping their tanks clean! My one is a planted tank with Java Fern, Java Moss, Anubias and, Villisneria. The Villisneria grows slowly but does well and gets tall.
That's so great to hear that you've been successful with live plants! Thanks so much for sharing what you use. :)
Your glasses are really nice
I’m getting one today!
Congratulations, that's amazing! :)
Thanks I set it up perfectly 15 gallon tank with 17 degrees Celsius water
Currently I have a DIY cooling system with a rat's nest of cables from 3 PC fans to an RPM controller to a power socket, but these USB fans connected to a single USB extension cable will look much cleaner. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yay, glad to hear! I know ZooMed and other companies sell aquarium fans, but I've always heard they're kinda loud. I love my super quiet Arctic fan. :)
Good video thanks
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
I LOVE YOUR AXOLOTL VIDEOS. i have 7 and still watch beginner videos 😂😂
Thank you so much! Haha I'm the same way too. Love continually learning and being reminded of the basics.
Buckets make water changes so much easier if your tank is not set up near a sink ! Also a kh testing kit for water hardness.
Oh totally! I can't believe I forgot to mention buckets, or maybe the complete Python siphon system that hooks to the sink. Thanks for adding your comment so that others can see!
A Gamer's Wife of course ! :)
I actually had to rare baby axolotls but we had to move and unfortunately they couldn't travel with me so I sold them to my friend and now they are happy healthy adults but I am going to purchase another one in about 2 weeks so yeah super excited
Thanks for the links! Although I thought the mesh lid was required to keep them for jumping out?
I got the exact aquarium you showed
I never used any substrate or stones when I owned an axolotl when I was younger, but quite a few hiding places.
Subscribed!
My axolotl is 15 years old, I think he has lived long because I don't fuss over him, feed him about once a week, clean his tank about once a month
Only note is that it’s definitely better to have a mesh lid than an open tank because sometimes Axolotls will jump out!
I have that same center piece driftwood in a 30 gal
i have axolotls my self and i highly recomend a mesh lid because they will actually jump out of the aquarium and well you know what happens then
Yes! Like you said you need a mesh cover so the cold air from the fan can reach the water, I have dogs and I know that if one of my axolotls were to jump out my dogs would hurt him. I got a reptile cover from Amazon for $20 for a 20 gallon Long and what’s really great is the cover has a slit in the corner so my air line tubing from my sponge filter can fit through!
For a chiller just buy a cheap mini fringe and a drill 2 holes in the side of it. Buy a bunch of tubing and a low flow powerhead (but strong enough to pump the water that far). Intake on one side of the tank and return on the other and run it through the the fridge with a lot of tubing coiled in the fridge. Copper coils inside because it will get super cold and soft line to and from the tank. There are videos on it. It's pretty simple and far cheaper than buying a chiller. Do it right and you can still have room to put stuff in the fridge for Axolotl food and stuff for yourself. I have 14 Axolotls and I have two 55 gal and a 125 gal tank. I paint the back of my tanks black and run fine black sand to keep it dark and lots of love plants to keep the water clean and they like to play and lay in the tall plants. They are super fun!
That's awesome! Sounds like some amazing setups. Thanks so much for sharing.
Can you post a video about it?
Of your tanks I wanna see them if you don’t mind
Axolotl my favourite animal
3:39 omg look at the white one at the top
The earrings you forgot to tell us where you got them 😂😂❤❤
I love your earrings I wish I could buy my own pair :D !!!!!!!
A friend got them for me from Etsy! :)
I decided to finally get an axolotl in for the filter are used a AQQApowerhead filter and hook it up to a spray bar
My dad is getting me one for my birthday in four days my birthday is on the 26th I’ve done a lot of research I just have a few questions and concerns but otherwise I’m so excited!
Thanks to this video, I don't need to axolotl foolish questions.
A little off topic but you should really try aquascaping with pearl weeds because they grow like wonders. Keep up the great videos ❤️☺️
Awesome, I've heard good things about pearl weed. Thanks for the suggestion!
new follower here!! I just watched your video on softening water flow for axolotls!! it was super helpful because I just set up my 55 gallon tank with a 70 gallon filter (it was half off from $60 to $30 and they were out of 55 gallon filters and I have 3 boys in the tank now lol) I love your videos they are super helpful. thank you so much for the advice!
My pleasure! :)
Hi I researched for 2yrs til I got my axys they are 5and half months old doing really well and been transferred to bigger tank soon. I'm happy with their growth and smart. The smaller one not sure sex yet lol is so clever and amazed how it quicks things. I wondered if u can suggest anything to give things to encourage! At Xmas I put a mirror baubel next to the tank and is fascinated. I know it's funny but drew an axy like him stuck it to the outside again loves it!! Lol anything else for my smarty ones? Thanks
I love your earrings, were did you find them?
saw that fake driftwood piece at Petsmart still today here in Holland MI
i love that drift wood but sadly petco doesn’t deliver to the uk 😩
Its my first time getting an aquatic pet so i dont know much but i really want to get one :)
I'm begging my parents to let me get one 😂 right now my mam is sorta convinced but wish me luck 😂
nice earring
Yes, I can't believe you noticed!! Here's a closeup of them, if you're interested: instagram.com/p/BwZqeXbgKMA/
c.j is back to normal but i did a massive funeral for my little axolotl. c.j his mow slowly going back to shape, I'm moving him back to his old tack tomorrow might again THAMK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH
My pleasure! Glad C.J. is doing better.
I’m here on a search for videos about their tank. I’m trying to figure out all the stuff you need to do like cycling the tank and all that Jazz.
where did you buy the cute axelotl earrings?
I need guidance on breeding and caring for Ambystoma mexicanum, thank you
I dont have an dechlorinizer but I have a water filter! It removes chlorine from the sink!
Very good video for those looking to get the very cool creatures💦
Awesome to see you in the comments! Thanks so much for watching my non-fish video. :)
if you get a 20 gallon tank can you put two axolotls in it? also what if you get one then in a couple months or even a year you get a second one will it be stressed by the new roommate or will it be ok cuz i’m thinking of getting two just not at the same time and i really don’t want to spend to much money on a whole other tank
I have 2 axolotl babies they are so cute and don’t take axolotls out of water for more than 1 hour
Just a quick question.
I live in a cold climate, northern america. My house is drafty, so it's pretty cold in the winter, and up to 95°F in the summer. Would I need cooling? Thanks!
You forgot to mention aquarium coop. jk. Nice video. My favorite size aquarium so far is my 20L. Great size for alot of aquarium livestock.
LOL! 😂🤣😂
Should I use an aqua clear 50 gallon filter for a 20 gallon long tank?
Would you suggest a wire lid or just a lid because I have four cats like I can trust them with my tortoise but when it’s fish I remember my fat cat loving to be on top of it
Hey my sister would love those earnings
some questions if i want a silent filter which one should buy, also if i want plants which ones should i pick real ones fakes i dont have idea
I know Im years late and won’t get a response but it’s worth a try. Is it ok to keep my room light on or but the tank close to my tv?
I NEED to know Where you got Those Earrings
It is way better to have a lid on your axolotl tank. They do jump, but if you need evaporation ability, use a mesh lid and a fan!
do you guys think a lid and that has two big open compartments are oki?
Such a helpful video! It is my DREAM to own a pair of axolotls but I have so much fear that this Texas heat will warm my tank top quickly! I know the chiller is the best option, but that price is the reason I don’t have the axolotls yet! I’m very curious how a fan would do here. Maybe I should test out your affordable method for a few months before adding the inhabitants, just to be sure!
I've found as long as your room is cool and you have something for surface agitation then it's not normally a problem. I have my tanks in a room with a regular window unit with its own thermostat set to 70. The water temp stays about 68. Plus you have this one room in your house thats cooler then the rest of the house if you want to take a break from the heat lol.
Tom Machin oh I could never lol I get uncomfortable when the house temp drops below 74. We also live with several reptiles and a parrot, so the house can’t be kept cold no matter what. 73-76 is the norm here, year-round!
Yea that's why they have their own room. I just used a spare bed room for mine. I like it cold tho. The rest of the house is set to 76 with central air. This one room is the only room with a window unit to make sure they are cool enough. The window unit is sooo much cheaper then a chiller also. I think I got it from Craigslist for like 125$ or so.
For sure! An experiment sounds like a great idea. I was able to drop the temperature by 8°F with just the fan and the reflective foil insulation. 👍
If I place a lid on the tank how do I place a filter in too?
I have 3 one albino, one wild type, and one ghp black one
That's awesome! I think my favorite is leucistic but there are so many crazy color morphs nowadays.
I don't know what tank to get you linked at 36 gallon tank
What about if someone lives in a basement turned into bedroom, would the axolotls need to stay warm?
Where did you get those fabulous Axolotl earrings from? - They’re so cute!! 😂🤓😊😊
My friend got them from Etsy!
@@GirlTalksFish Oh cool! Thank you for responding!! 🤓😊😊
Oh man, I'm really Into sculpting clay, thanks for the great idea haha! :)
