- #NAMM2020: Taylor Guitars has announced the expansion of its Builder’s Edition collection with four new models from the workbench of Master Guitar Designer Andy Powers.
Read the review of the 816ce and 324ce here: guitar.com/review-taylor-guit...
Player comfort and sound are the main focus, with Powers’ innovative V-Class bracing system providing the platform for the new designs. The new instruments added to the collection comprise the Builder’s Edition 816ce, 912ce, 652ce (12-string) and 324ce.
This new quartet rounds out a diverse premium range that now features nine guitars in total, with Powers taking an uncompromising, “director’s cut” approach to tone, build and ergonomics. New features on display include the 816ce’s unique soundport cutaway and a guitar made from ‘Urban Ash’, a sustainable timber often found growing on roadsides in Southern California. - Hudba
Just got a new 912ce Builders Edition and it’s a dream guitar. The Grand Concert size it’s just perfect, not too big and not too small. It’s extremely ergonomic, fits like a glove, and the sound it’s just incredibly amazing all around.
0:00 = 324ce
5:24 = 816ce
10:05 = 912ce
11:50 = 625ce
In the UK there are now guitars being built with lacewood back and sides which is harvested from plane trees which grow commonly round here - the wood looks lovely. Only small companies using it at the moment though and quite expensive.
Thank you for making my 816ce . What a joy to play ❤
can't wait until mine arrives
Nice to hear a clean player demonstrate these beautiful instruments! Great Licks Man!
I love the 816ce bro. Although i cant afford now. But man, i cant wait to get my hands on one. I been playing since i was 7 and im 32 now. Im a writer and a big fan of guitars. 816ce builders edition is an absolute beautiful instrument, i mean wow the sound it has is so unique. I think its really on point with action, intergration as well as, an amazing equalized treb to balance with the bass. Lol "sound port cut away". I love it. Im dieing to have it.
I have a Taylor 714ce V-brace and I have to say the sound is amazing. The v-brace makes all the difference in the sound. I have other Taylor acoustic guitars they don't come close to the v-brace.
Andy really made some genius improvements to acoustics. Never got to play the Builder Edition yet but would really love to play and maybe own it.
That new 324ce... beautiful.
completely agree - about to buy one. Just not sure if I should get 2017 with x brace or 2020 with v brace...
@@Pharesm i would prefer v brace
I want it so bad but my debit card weeps at the idea 😂
Owning that 324 has been added to my goal list for 2020.
Got it yet?
@@makeavideowithoutyouinit I actually ended up getting a 322ce V class. Love the grand concert body.
Just bought a 324ce V-class...
Good Lord.
Good on ya, Andy.
This sounds so GOOOOD! unheard of
What a fantastic guitar. You are right on the mark with good timber all around us. We don't need Brazilian rose wood. I am an irish company called notekase. Thanks for the video
I must say that this model has the first sound of a Taylor guitar that call my complete attention. It is new to the brand, better, warmer and friendly to my ears. I mean the 324ce BE.
I played my first builders edition today... I loved it, she is a 324ce builders edition like he’s holding. Needless to say I’m buying it lol 😂 I am a Taylor fan boy have been since my first 214
That is an amazing looking guitar I want it now
Im blown away..
That 912C is killing me man, I'm sold.
2021 will feature the Taylor Paper Plate V-Class builder series, proving Taylor can build a guitar from anything.
Man o man, i wish i had the money, i would buy it without a hasitation...what a gem it is! I mean the 816ce builder's edition that is!
That 12 string is insane too brother.
If only I can have the tabs to those licks played on the intro for the 324 CE Builder's Edition..
Can you interview view him on the Taylor GS Mini Koa Plus?
I like the Bridgeport (I'm a hobby machinist). What do you do with it?
Beautiful! What’s the fingerboard on the 912ce? Ebony or Koa?
Urban forestry - genius idea!
Taylor's 'innovative' cutaway design is identical to my Benjamin Scoop cutaway I conceived in 2006/7. You can see the design in many of Mike Dawes' videos. This type of cutaway using a bent piece of wood inserted into the corner of a standard guitar was probably first conceived by Theo Scharpach, with similar ideas executed by Uchida, several decades ago. The sound-port in the centre of a sloped cutaway is also an idea used by various makers for some time. I am a one person operation as are many of the other actual innovators.
So what you're saying is, Taylor is the Apple of the guitar world.
@@carlosdominguez3108 thanks for your contribution...
Most important is that has Benjamin cutaway got patented? If not, Taylor can use it.
@@jackleung7254 I can't prevent anyone using the design and if asked about using it by other makers I just ask them to attribute it to me if they got the idea from me. I'm just pointing out here that this idea did not pop into Austin Powers' mind from nowhere: the cutaway is identical to my design not just in concept but in shape. Hole kind of ruins the look for me...;-)
Nick Benjamin except Taylor actually made something that sounds good.
Equally beautiful to the instruments is that old Bridgeport Knee Mill.
Model J?
I have that very guitar your playing now,I plugged it in at first I got a lot of feedback from the guitar but hopefully it's gone now the 324ce B Edition
❤️
What the music sounds at 5:25? What is the name of the song?
More a Martin and Gibson guy, but the builders editions are the only Taylor models I've ever found myself really wowed by and these sound great. I'm glad Taylor is focusing on high-end this year and not over marketing another "innovation" gimmick.
I am totally just the opposite love taylor guitars
I have to agree with you. Taylor’s have always been to overly bright for me but Andy’s getting really close to Martin tone while retaining nice mids and highs.
So i just got my custom 12 fret GA Cocobolo back and sides with lutz top. They lost the back and sides i picked out said they found right after and made guitar with back and sides i didn’t choose. Made me change maple binding saying they couldn’t do it with cocobolo anymore as it doesn’t glue properly because of the oils from cocobolo and the hardness of maple. They didn’t ship the loose pick guard as requested. I couldn’t get V Class bracing as they couldn’t do it on 12 fret. So needless to say I’ve sold my other Taylors and keeping this new 12 fret cocobolo for now but I’ll never buy another Taylor again I’m going with Santa Cruz from now on or at least for next 2 guitars starting with an H13
Murray Wilson
I live in Australia nowhere near any repair Technicians, my action on my 150e has become way to high since I bought it 4 years ago ( 13/64ths or 5mm to be precise ). I am very conversant with correct truss rod adjustments and saddle heights which are not the way to correct this action.
I am unwilling to freight the guitar via risky freight and have contacted Taylor support with the issue however they refuse to help me with shims to reset the neck even though I am very capable to do this work.
I am gutted by this lack of support as a retired musician I expected so much more from Taylor . Now I will have to try and manufacture my own shims and just wear the condescending , dismissive emails I received back from Taylor guitar support in the US. Buyer beware, this is a common issue and they refuse to help other than say how specialised the shim work is and link you to their list of repair places.
No slouch of a guitar player, Andy.
Chapstick?
What is the name of the song at 5:22 ?
Dang I want that twelve string.
Im deaf in one ear. When this particular guitar is played i feel like i have a surround sound even though i cant hear from both sides. If that makes any sense? Lol
I love the feel of the Taylor guitar neck it is an amazing guitar but they really need to abandon there pickup system and go with a high quality Fishman system and not the one that the controls are in the sound hole. I have two Martins and we have a Taylor at our Church and I really like the feel of the Taylor better than my Martins but I hate the the pre amp system on the Taylor
I have owned and sold so many nice Taylors cause the ES2 is just garbage.
dnottis You know that is what a lot of other guitarist say too but it’s like they really don’t care. If they would just go with a high quality Fishman with a multi EQ I think Taylor would start dominating the acoustic guitar sales.
@@joenichols6861 I agree, they sound great unplugged. I've got a Martin GPC-11e right now that sound killer plugged in and unplugged. Taylor has to step up their pickup game.
@@joenichols6861 I cant see spending $1500 to have to drop another $300 to replace ES2, sorry that just doesnt make sense to me.
dnottis I agree.
Sabotaged by pop up ads at the final seconds by the sponsor...like shooting oneself in the foot, bad on you GUITAR mag UK....
Since when can Toby play guitar? 🧐
Tree huggers just start making guitars out of pine cones why don't you 😂
Neat stuff. Unfortunately, I don’t want to give any of my money to Scientology.
huh?
The only problem I have with Taylor is the price.
I did not know they made one that cheap.
Ugly cutaway..... O.o
