Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture and the surrounding areas experienced a devastating earthquake at a 7.6 magnitude on New Year’s day. Although we weren’t in the area, this was still a bit heartbreaking for Maiko and I, since we were just there a little over a month ago, specifically at the Wajima morning Market where we met the kindest people in the world. Even though we just met them on that one day, we were so appreciative of how they welcomed us to their market, our hearts just goes out to all of them. This is one of the hardest hit areas in Japan and pretty much no longer exists as the earthquake collapsed many buildings and then a massive fire tore through the area of more than 200 homes and shops leaving much of it in rubble. In total, more than 26,000 people had to evacuate their homes in the Ishikawa area, while more than 12,000 people had to evacuate in the Wajima area alone. 81 people have been reported dead in Wajima and 100 people still have not been found. There’s no electricity in over 6200 homes with most everyone having no access to water. We wanted to help raise awareness with this video. If you want to help yourself there are links above. Thank you for your time.

Yummy eat bro 😂
Great video Paolo! It would be nice if some hotel owners would give these people rooms to stay and get them out of the cold where they can stay till they are able to get back on their feet.
Hi Paolo, I noticed that despite the overall English translation available on the Japan platform website, there are a series of required questions below payment info in Japanese to be able to donate. Most of it is in English but then…not. Anyone else having that problem or maybe can translate that portion or…thoughts? Thank you for doing this video, I have been watching the news and wondering how to help.
@@dylangoldsmith6774What I saw in Japanese seemed to be a description of what the payment was for. I used PayPal to donate.
@@dylangoldsmith6774 same issue now...Paolo please help arigatou
Did my part. Thanks for using your platform to spread good around Japan! I love the country and the natural disaster news has been breaking my heart. ❤
Because of Paolo”s videos I decided to visit Japan this year. Many interesting places to see and activities to do.😄
Im good fam i donated $500 Paying for a little girls chance of life saving operation so a little girl with something wrong with her heart out-trumps a Street food market
You are a good man Paolo. I hope you do a follow up video when you can with these people.
Many of my relatives are from the area. Two of my aunts lost their homes. I’m just so glad they are alive. One of my aunts was home all day with her daughter in law and grandkids, but the earthquake happened when they stepped out of the house by chance.
My aunts are still too active to just go to an elderly home, but I also can’t imagine them dealing with the process of a rebuild. They are currently staying with their adult kids elsewhere, but they just want to go “home”.
How are they now?
The lady who wrapped Wolfy’s feet is an earth angel. It’s heartbreaking what happened but we’re glad you’re using your platform to raise awareness. Thank you for sharing clips from Ishikawa Prefecture. Shall check out the web links and look forward to updates on a very caring community deserving of help, preservation & protection.🩵💙
Japanese people are generally kind and charming, at least with strangers.
I hope everyone gets over this earthquake and send my love to japan
Thank you Paolo for bringing awareness of the terrible event and most importantly the opportunity to help. Because of you I was able to donate. I live in Florida and familiar with natural disasters. We all must come together to help others.
is japanese government help these people financially or build their homes to live normally again? if they do something like this, the poor people may not need help anywhere.
It's so sad to see so much history disappear. We gave what we could to help but wished there was more we could do.
I am glad you posted some of the footage, it can serve as preservation of what the area was and will hopefully be rebuilt to be in the near future
I'm Japanese but It's my first time to hear stories about Wajima Market from anyone who visited there as tourists. 😢
It must have been hard, but thank you Paulo san for making this video🙏
The liquor store lady is such a gem. I hope you can find out if she’s ok. My heart breaks for these lovely people. Wolfie is such a delight to see. I certainly hope these survivors get transferred to some places with adequate water, warmth and sanitation . Also praying for the pets
Thank you for the video. Have just donated. Love and support from Australia! The world was so good to donate so much when we had the devastating bush fires across our country 4 years ago. Nice to be able to help. Love Japan and it people and culture. Look forward to coming back soon!
Just donated. I love your content and appreciate your work on making Japan accessible to us. The damage is horrific and I am glad I could help in some small way. I would love to return to Japan (went in 2019).
Greetings from Vienna! 🇦🇹
I am sorry, but I have no Japanese Account. So, please donate this to the Japanese Red Cross! My Thoughts and Prayers are with you! 🙏😇
Peter Steinkellner
Wow! Thank you so much for the donation. Although this is not the preferred method to donate since we'd rather have it go directly to the charities, we'll make sure this money gets to them. They will appreciate the support no matter how it gets there. THANK YOU!!!! Also, as a reminder to others, you can donate directly on Japan Platform from whatever country you are in.

Unfortunately for 50$ now became less because CZcams takes a FAT Cut. Your money is best used sending it directly.
Please, please, please. Keep us updated on them. Especially those two friendly and heartwarming ladies who did those things for you. My heart goes out to everyone affected and pray that they'll come back stronger than ever.
Paolo thank you for sharing this. My hopes and prayers are with these beautiful people and their shops and stalls. ❤❤❤
omg that is so heartbreaking! I hope the optimism and kindness of those people will help them through these tough times.
Really heart breaking. I really hope and pray for those affected. Especially the poor liquor store lady. Definitely will donate 🙏🙏
Prayers for everyone affected by the earthquake and the fire from South East Georgia USA. Paolo you and your family are such good people for everything y'all do you help those who are going through such a hardship right now.
Just donated, and I hope that this will help the people in Ishikawa and those who've been affected. Thank you for linking the websites, I would've have not known where to donate or support the relief efforts. And thank you again for the videos and bringing the situation to our attention!
We were there in Noto Peninsula for 5 days in September 2022. We went along the coast by car and saw the beautiful roads and coastal sceneries in Wajima, Suzu, Nanao City … I have been to the scenic spots like Senmaida Terraces, Tarumi falls, Wajima Market, Rokkosaki Lighthouse in Suzu City, the fascinating streets lined by old but neat beautiful houses, the friendly people. It’s so heartbreaking to see them devastated by earthquake, fire and tsunami. I have wonderful memories of them uploaded in my CZcams channel @japanwithjanice. Watching the daily news about their current situation is very saddening. I’m constantly praying for the people’s safety, strength and recovery from this unfortunate calamity. Thank you Paolo for this wonderful video.
Thank you for letting us know this. I just donated and my heart goes to all those people in the market. Japan is one of my favorite destinations, I have visited Japan many times. Me and my husband also wanna visit there again this year.
Sending hugs and prayers to the families from the Philippines. I copied the link and shared it to our chat groups so that my friends can donate too. Thanks Paulo! May God Bless you! ❤️🙏

What a sad but beautiful video. Thank you so much, and thanks for leaving links to donate for those of us who don’t speak Japanese.

Good job man! Sharing this video to help out.
What a loss to the people. I loved this video. Wolfy is becoming quite the social gentleman.
this was so sad to see that this happened i hope everyone is safe and that maybe they can rebuild their shops once again.
Kia ora! Thanks for the video Paolo, did my bit to support. NZ and Japan share a special relationship helping each other at times like this - thinking of 2011 Christchurch earthquake and the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami
My heart goes out to these beautiful kind people. I really hope everyone can give a little bit and that the money makes a difference in easing everyones burdens. ♥
Oh my goodness that's so heartbreaking. I cried when you talked about the liquor store lady and how sweet she was. I'm praying she's ok and that everyone can rebuild quickly.
I did my part when I was in japan a week ago, thank you Pablo for spreading the awareness. I hope more help can reach them
Thank you very much for this video Paolo. I did my part and wish everyone who suffers good luck and the strength so get over to this hard time !
Thank you for providing this information, Paolo. 🙏
I think it's great that you dedicated a video to help those at the markets. It's so unfair that bad things happened to those nice people.
Thank you for raising awareness and I hope more foreign youtubers in japan start doing the same!
Bless you and for your deeds. Hope that your video will help more of the people there in Japan
Thank you for making this video and sharing it ❤

Commenting here in hope to boost the video ❤️ thanks for using your platform to talk about this as news where I live didn't have anymore update after the first news about the earthquake, so I did not know about the fire and other problems.
So very sorry what happened to the people in this area of Japan.
Thanks for this Paolo
I hope and pray that those affected are building up their lives and businesses by now. God bless all of them. One day we will visit them too. Thanks for sharing .

My prayers go to the people affected by the earthquake..... May help comee soonest and may you regain your life again in the quickest possible time....
I was in Tokyo riding the train when I saw on the display screen that there was a delay for one of the shinkansen trains due to an earthquake. I didn’t realize how severe it was until later (because we never felt anything in Tokyo). It’s heartbreaking 😢 after my recent trip to Japan, the country (along with her people) now have a special place in my heart. Praying for the people affected by both the earthquake and the fire. Sending love from Florida, USA ❤️
Thank you for doing this...also, Wolfie is such a sweet little boy!
